So I ordered mine about six hours before you released this video. Now I feel like I made the right decision. I personally think this is your best video yet.
Ok so this is my first Elektron product and I must say it is very very VERY impressif ! I coupled it at first with the Nord Drum ( make it pure Swedish drum couple ) and now with the Vermona drm1. I was surprised how easy ( sometimes too easy ) it is just to do a beat on the fly. The midi section is really easy to understand ! Plus the construction is really well made ! sharp machine and a real pleasure to play.
Here after knowing you didn’t receive the mk2. Since I want the mk1 to take my first steps in Elektron system, I’m here with a smile on my face. Keep it up
You make this sound great vs other TH-camrs and videos done by Elektron (Cenk/Mr Dataline). Not everyone wants to use a drum machine purely for making EDM
Thanks Mike! I don't want to sound boasting but I kinda think so too =) I really put a lot of hours and effort into understanding this device before I made my videos
That is why i love simple analog synths.Life is too short for getting lost in such overloaded functionality. Do you remember how cool the DX7 sounds... but it was a pain in the ass to program it.
I am addicted to watching videos like yours. I need to actually make music lmao! But this was great, it helps me to decide whether or not the Digitakt will be my next sequencer/"brain" after buying and getting used to the Circuit.
Loved this video! One of your best and about an instrument that I am personally very interested in. I'd really love to see you dig deep into the Digitakt as a complete solution for building tracks. Using the sampling functionality (that you did touch on a bit with the kick drum) to create a fully fleshed dance tune without the assistance of a computer or secondary gear. I know both the Rytm and Octatrack can be used as such, would be great to see how the Digitakt stacks up in that area.
Hence this Video is already quite old in terms of the Internet. But i really have to admit that without Bo's Tutorials i would never ever use and understand the digitakt and elektron's ui Navigation. Sadly good Manuals are rare. And i don't know why. I came from EMU Samplers and a Roland MV8000 and been into midi and electronic music production sonce 1994. But with just the factory Manuals i would have returned the digitakt instantly. Continue your good work Bo.
Bo, First off let me say that visuals of this vid were magnificent ! Very Pro ! Top notch ! NOW ! The Digitakt, along with the Circuit are my most impressed by and desired products that I've seen in years (and yes, that even includes the DSI p-6, drool). They are both Audio swiss army knives, they can do a lot of stuff and they don't take up much space ! Plus Major Bang for Your Buck$ ! ! Very enjoyable intro vid, Thanks ! ~ I'll watch for upcoming vidies !
You're gonna have Sooooo much fun ! ! ! Question : What are you going to name your Digitakt and when will he get to have 'a play date' with "Paul" and "Barry" ?
Thank you sir! I think you will be pleased with it for sure. And this week I am releasing one Digitakt video every day at 12 CET. Tomorrow I will cover sampling
Nice overview. I feel like the Digitakt would be an amazing creative tool and now I am wanty. Great point also about working with your own samples and shaping them yourself. I much prefer to work that way to create something unique.
Great suggestion. I've just sold my Circuit as I found it too limiting. Considering the Electribe, but it looks like a difficult interface. Despite the cost, the Digitakt is tempting.
can be fun also to link digitakt and circuit, so digitakt can sequence circuit's drums while playing its own samples/ while circuit playing synths (arps for example that are missing on the DT) that are re sampled in the digitakt. crazy loops lol
Don’t care about playing sounds or sampling, at least for now. What I really need is to replace my drummer. Will this work? Most videos I found create/play effects and manipulate them ( not interested) again I want drums/drum kits) to play variety of styles. Thanks for the help
thanks for your overview, gives a good impression! For a future video I'd be interested in seeing the Digitakt integrated in a setup with some other synths. Furthermore I'd like to see how you use the Digitakt in your own music :)
Thanks mate! I got some tunes coming where you will see more of MY way of using it. I will probably use it stand alone a lot just like I did with the Circuit.
Bo, you made a nice, crazy bass sound from a kick drum. How do you save the sound that you created afterwards? Do you have to resample it or can you save it directly?
+det rechter you can save them as SOUNDS. That means that you save the settings and a link to what sample was used. So basically you get a list with all your saved fav sounds. Very very handy!
Thanks for the great overview Bo! I think you convinced me to get this little guy based on the morphing on that kick drum and the chromatic playing. This is exactly what I want in a sampler, quick interface, fun synthesis and the ability to play samples melodically and trigger then like a drum machine. I was worried that this would be too redundant with my octatrack but this feels much quicker and more fun (I love the single button sampling). Quick question: do you know if it's possible to connect a MIDI keyboard and play the sounds chromatically that way? If that is the case I may need to unload my wallet immediately lol. Looking forward to your other Digitakt videos.
Glad you like the video my friend! You can most definitely hook up a keyboard and play those sounds chromatically. I have tried it with a Keystep and voilá: you have a very playable synthesizer. Because there are no arp on the Digi or other ways to really play it "live" except from the chromatic mode.
Excelente review , very in depth and clearly explained(not that lightspeed demos from Cenk). Really Amazing machine....and absolutely worth the price I guess. Cheers
Awesome introduction video! Thanks for your effort, Bo. Can you please answer one question? I understand that samples are stored inside each project, right? If so, can you import samples from one project to another?
Samples are saved on the +Drive in a "sample" directory. When you import a sample into the project it goes into the RAM from what I understand. But you can also save sounds. Sounds are samples+settings. They are avalible to all projects from the sounds menu. And can be quickly previewed and sorted.
BoBeats Thanks so much for your reply! Does this mean that each project also stores sounds being used? Or all projects have to load samples from the same global folder?
hehe yah for sure ..not mine either. i am sure you will figure it out. you just got it. i am still trying to figure out the midi option on the mpc live.
Nice one man! Thx as always, crispy! But why only a gig of storage? 33 secs of sample time? Is this the SP12? Lol And any ability to back up via computer? Curious, guess I'll find out soon!
Very interested in the back-up proces , also in the daw-integretion/overbridge (i know its not out yet for digitakt) ... im getting mine in 2 months (can i wait that long?) so stoked for that ... anyway good vid , interested to see more
Great vid! Best vid about the digitakt so far!! So just to get my head around it. Every project has 8 banks of patterns which consist of 16 patterns per bank? and every pattern has 64 steps or?
You are correct sir. 8 Banks. 16 patterns per bank = 128 patterns per project. A pattern can be 1 step - 64 steps long. But can also have changes to speed which makes either the pattern go faster or slower. That doesn't really add steps beyond 64, but it can give you access to 32th (instead of 16th at normal speed).
Nice video - thank you. I would like to know about midi tracks - is there an arp or any other midi facilities like chord memory? Also, does is have an 'audio thru' function like the RYTM audio input (which is way to quiet to be useful). Is there a master compressor? Finally, how are the pads? The RYTM ones are terrible. Sure you will cover some of this in the next vid :)
Would love to see how you would compare the Rytm and Digitakt. I plan on ordering the Digi, and wondering how I would use it compared with Rytm, which I haven't really gotten into yet.
I will make a more detailed video on this since its a question many ask. But here goes: Its a complicated comparison because both have big strengths in the same areas... Digitakt is much more versatile as an instrument goes. Analog Rytm is much more impressive as a drum machine and for actual live performance of drums. Performance controls are lacking on the Digitakt... BUT at the same time the CONTROL ALL function of the Digi is super impressive... The effects sound better on the Rytm. The overall sound of the Rytm has a more musical feel to my ears ... BUT... Playing samples chromatically is a lot better on the Digitakt. It just seems more musical to me. My guess is that the AMP ENV is not the exact same or that some other witchcraft goes on under the hood. The Rytm has a real master section - the Digitakt has 8 volume knobs...
Hello bo, great vid ! Can you extend the lengh of a sample without affecting his pitch in the digitakt ? Also can you change the pitch whitout changing the lengh ? thanks
Hey Bobeats, Which do you like more the Digitakt or the op-1. I really love how you can sample anything from anywhere right into the op-1 and it looks like you can also do that with the digitakt. However I don't see a song mode on the digitakt where you can create a whole song like the op-1.
Sounds crisp! I mean like it has really awesome, high quality D/A converters. Can I humbly ask for a dedicated midi sequencer video? Mostly about CC implementation, LFO and Trig Conditions for midi. Thanks!
Hey Bo! Love the vlog. Big fan. About the digitakt, it is about the reverb and delay effects. Is it possible to individually assign the effects per sound or track. If for example i want to play a sequence or pattern and i only want the kickdrum to be effected by reverb or delay. Is that possible? Or is it more of a effects that works globally? Cheers Leon
+Leon Ardos hey! Thanks Leon! the effects are send effects which means that you set an amount per track that is sent to the fx. So yes you can have no fx on say track 1,4,8 and some lvl of fx on the rest. But the settings for the fx (delay time for example) are the same for all tracks since they are global and not insert
Thanx for the rapid response Bo! Its greatly appreciated. In a separate note I really like when u do your reviews because they are well balanced. You try to show the possibilities and at the same time show the limitations with sonic gear in a good way. 👍🏽⚡️💻. I just made an order for a digitakt.
Hey Bo, Great channel. Superb videos. Does it record automation? Does it auto-quantize a rhythmic sample with a beat you create on the DT? Will it sync automatically to the beat?
I'm reading through the manual now. However I have a Cirklon sequencer en route, which I want to trigger individual tracks on the Digitakt. Do you know if this is possible? And what is the maximum length or size of a sample?
I don't think you can trigger just one track. You can record 33 sec samples. But you can load up to 64 mb of samples into a project. So whatever length 64 gives you in mono. In theory. Not tested it.
Great review! and Hi from NW Florida - watching this makes me question my new studio current equipment choices, If I may solicit your opinion... As an "Old School" trained musician and new to the production studio side. I am heavily vested in Novation.. ie.. Circuit, BS2, MiniNova, and Impulse 49 plus my non-electric instruments. My Question is should I be married to one manufacturer as I am to Novation or try to manage many others like adding Elektron devices as well. I want to produce the best output I can within reasonable cost, but not get lost in learning ten different kinds of device workflows. Hope this question makes sense.. Thank you in advance
+dahDougieBoy I dont think they got the same lvl of support as do Novation with the Circuit. But they have added features to other devices before. New drum synth engines for example to the Rytm
I have a few hardware equipment like a Aira TR8, 303, Korg KP3, 2 Synths, and a MPC 1000. Which Elektron device would you recommend to pair with my setup? I am moving forward with a DAW setup to record and I will most likely channel my hardware for tracks. I don’t have an Audio Interface or any Midi connections. And I usually go from one instrument to another to track on my MPC. From the monomachine, to more recent projects like the digikat and Digitone, I am interested in getting something more modern and in date while prioritizing sound quality and workflow. I’m interested in having a synth sequencer and I will have time to invest in a machine and would just like to know which one will work best with my current setup to better shape my sound and for better future recording. Thanks!
Hi Bo, thanks for the vid. Does the Digitakt support sample stretch like the Octatrack to keep samples in tune when the tempo changes? And is the Digitakt already added to Overbridge or is that yet to be released?
Hi Bo! Thank you so much for all of your videos, I’m a big fan! I’m curious about the process of recording the Digitakt into a DAW like Logic. Would you essentially create a pattern and record it as audio via an audio interface? Are you able to record midi notes from a pattern and assign the Digitakt sounds to those midi notes inside the DAW? Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question. I’m new to hardware. My usual process has been a midi controller into a DAW, and I’ve been curious about how to integrate outboard hardware into the process. Thanks again!
please please please...the midi sequencer!! We have had videos on everything else already but I am holding off all decisions until someone shows how this works, can you save sequences, how easy are they to program, what features are there...
hey Bo ! I'm about to get mine, entering the Elektron family ! Yet I still have a question, I wish to sequence my vermona on it. It has 10 different MIDI notes and I was wondering if there is a way to assign those notes on the digitakt ? ( if not its also cool I could just sample the hell out of it :P). Oh and P.S: since you mentioned it, how old are you ?
+Stephen Kyburz you can use all 8 channels of midi to sent to just 1 midi channel and thus using at least 8 individual notes at one time. But it will probably be a little clunky :-) my age is a secret!!
haha I was just teasing you for the age ! Thanks for the information, but can I use a chromatic mode for my drums machine to learn the notes ? ( I don't know if I'm quite clear :/ )
+Stephen Kyburz yes chromatic mode will work but each trig/step can only hold up to 4 notes. So if you want to trigger say all 10 sounds on 1 step you need to use multiple midi tracks! :-)
+Stephen Kyburz i should say also that while you can play a couple of octaves from the chromatic mode there is no way to switch the root note of the actual pad... so when you are not in chromatic mode the midi track you press will trigger C3 I think. But in step sequencing you can ofc sequence whatever notes you want. And you can play an octave in chromatic mode
Hey Bo , I was thinking about either getting a Digitone or a digitakt as my first instrument. I barely started getting into music a couple of months ago and I was wondering what you think would be more practical choice? I love synthesizers and sound crafting , but I’m also considering maybe getting a sampler for a lot more versatility I’m kind of stuck on deciding.
BoBeats I’ll definitely check it out! I was thinking of starting with an elektron machine cause I really like the workflow from what I’ve seen and I’m willing to challenge myself to try it. Thank you for the suggestion tho!
The midi and sampling is the main parts compared to the Rytm MK1. But check Rytm MK2 it has sampling as well! And then there is the biiig price differences
Hi mate, thanks for making the vid! Was wondering how the digitakt handles muting steps - does it clear the velocity and other params? or does it just, mute the step? Might seem like a small detail but I really hate it when muting steps erases the pattern...
Thanks for the info :) I prefer muting steps by pressing the step key to mute - without destroying the pattern. Workarounds like lowering the volume are cumbersome. Will have to check out the new MPC's . Cheers anyway.
You can only play 1 sample per channel. But a sampled chord can be played chromatically. Not sure how great it will sound, depends on how far you push it
Is this a good machine for a beginner I want something that is not just a drum machine I trying to decide between this a novation circuit or roland tr08
Was that all done with the Digitakt? the gnalry vocals and the backing? is that music sample from a complete track and available for purchase by the way? lovely piece of work.
Question; Can you chop a drum break(any sample) and then have all the hits live played sequenced onto the same track (each pad plays different sample but on the same track) , or is each track limited to one start/end point in the sample file? Any info is greatly appreciated.....thank you in advance :)
I am overwhelmed with choices haha. Digitakt, the Model:Cycles, Polyend Play, Polyend Tracker, Deluge... Sheesh... The Digitakt seems to be the front runner. But does it have the ability to record or sequence unquantized steps?
Can anyone tell if I can control the Digitakt with another midi controller? For example the novation launch control xl... The idea would be having the faders to control the audio intensity in each audio track! Tks

So I ordered mine about six hours before you released this video. Now I feel like I made the right decision. I personally think this is your best video yet.
Thank you mate! I put a lot of effort into getting it tight. :)
After a year was it worth it?
Three77Sparks still using it? Tell me
Ok so this is my first Elektron product and I must say it is very very VERY impressif ! I coupled it at first with the Nord Drum ( make it pure Swedish drum couple ) and now with the Vermona drm1. Here after knowing you didn’t receive the mk2.
Since I want the mk1 to take my first steps in Elektron system, I’m here with a smile on my face.
Keep it up
thank you!!
First on the block and the most thorough out of the gate!
Proud to be a patreon supporter. Everyone should join up!
Thank you Alec! So grateful for the love and support. Today at 12 CET another tutorial/overview of sampling. With a pinch of fun sprinkled in
You make this sound great vs other TH-camrs and videos done by Elektron (Cenk/Mr Dataline). Not everyone wants to use a drum machine purely for making EDM
Hey BoBeats, this is seriously the most informative Digitakt video out yet. Thanks heaps!
Thanks Mike! I don't want to sound boasting but I kinda think so too =) I really put a lot of hours and effort into understanding this device before I made my videos
interesting to see that v1.08 and v1.10 have changed what the filter aspect look like - they've added gfx instead of just having knobs. neat!
Excellent tuturial. Pure concise and simple. Thank you.
hey bo recently I'm purchased Digitakt. Thank for your Tutorials It's very help to me. Digitak is an old device, but it looks like heritage item
Awesome!!
That is why i love simple analog synths.Life is too short for getting lost in such overloaded functionality.
Do you remember how cool the DX7 sounds... but it was a pain in the ass to program it.
had the DX100. Man it was a paaaain
I am addicted to watching videos like yours. I need to actually make music lmao! But this was great, it helps me to decide whether or not the Digitakt will be my next sequencer/"brain" after buying and getting used to the Circuit.
I'm getting this and a Korg Minilogue as my set up. Can't wait.
Solid combo!
I got the Korg monologue now as a set up but I just ordered this machine today off Amazon can't wait to dive in
Great video! I've probably said it before, but I really like your voice delivery in these videos, nice and calm/soothing :D
Thank you mate =) its the psychotherapy voice
You are a great reviewer because you show lots of audio samples instead of only talking.
Thank you Linus =)
Loved this video! One of your best and about an instrument that I am personally very interested in. I'd really love to see you dig deep into the Digitakt as a complete solution for building tracks. Tomorrow or on Thursday I will release my first video with a "full track" made on it =)
can't wait to get my own.... :D been saving up for 4 months

Great Vid Bo. Didn't even know I was GAS'ing for this.
Ah, that GAS-trigger Bo!
Tyler Alan Johnson What is gas' ing?

You're gonna have Sooooo much fun ! ! ! Question : What are you going to name your Digitakt and when will he get to have 'a play date' with "Paul" and "Barry" ?
Can't name the Digitakt... Then I don't get the pleasure of pronouncing it correctly. Di-Gi TA K T
Well done review, pre-ordered mine a month ago from a US retailer. waiting...
and subscribed.
Thank you sir! I think you will be pleased with it for sure. And this week I am releasing one Digitakt video every day at 12 CET. Tomorrow I will cover sampling

I might have to dive into the digitakt pool with you.. great video
Excellent video Bo! You stepped up your already good quality!
P.S. I need a Digitakt now
+Martin Taha thanks mate!!
Great review! I would love to see a side by side comparison between the digitakt and the circuit and/or the electribe 2.
A Circuit vs Digitakt will probably be something I do =)
Great suggestion. I've just sold my Circuit as I found it too limiting. Considering the Electribe, but it looks like a difficult interface. Despite the cost, the Digitakt is tempting.

the electribe is dead easy to use. dont worry about that. if the digikat can sequence the electribe satisfactory i might have to get it
Thanks for the feedback on the Electribe. In the UK it's (currently) half the price of the Digitakt.
Cant wait to get my hands on one. Pre order needs to hurry up!
Where is that Ask Audio hook up???
haha
Good job, Bo. Well shot. Well explained. Well played.
Thanks Matt! =)
love my Octatrack. but now I wonder if this should've been the brain of my setup instead
can't wait to see digitakt to sequence some sub37 or mother 32 :)
Its on the list for sure. Sampled the Mother 32 a lot but now its time for some real sequencing =)
yep gonna be lots of fun for sure
Those xlr right angle cables look nice 👌
Don’t care about playing sounds or sampling, at least for now. What I really need is to replace my drummer. Will this work? Most videos I found create/play effects and manipulate them ( not interested) again I want drums/drum kits) to play variety of styles. Thanks for the help

Artemiy Pavlov samples are, if saved, always globally accessible. Sounds (a sample + specific settings) are also globally avalible.
good overview Bo, i cant wait till i get mine in the next run. hoping you do a video on the midi out.
Yeah I am working on a midi video but I want to do it justice. Midi is not my strong suite so its taking a bit longer :)
hehe yah for sure ..not mine either. i am sure you will figure it out. you just got it. i am still trying to figure out the midi option on the mpc live.
MPC Live looks so dope =)
its great so far except for a few crashes but i am pretty sure its just my unit. i am talking to akai about it.
Very inspiring video. I'm looking forward to your other video's!!!
Thank you sir! Got 6 videos out on the Digitakt =)
Great video Bo!
Thank you mate!
Nice one man! Thx as always, crispy! But why only a gig of storage? 33 secs of sample time? Is this the SP12? Lol And any ability to back up via computer? Curious, guess I'll find out soon!

Great video. The price point in the device is right but its missing a sd card slot. Nice to hear your over the cold.
Thank you Shannon!

Midi tutorial coming up. In short: no arp, no chord memory. It has a audio monitoring function so you can play synths thru it. But not add FX.
is there any video where we can see the differences between the digitakt and the syntakt , thank you, big fan of your channel
im working on such a video
This is a phenomenal review. I have one on the way as well. Thank you.
Thank you mate!
You sampled Alan Watts? Can't wait to get my hands and ears on this little gem 😍Tack!
YES! We have a winner! =)
OMG I never win ANYTHING ! What did I WIN ? Is it the DIGITAKT ?!! LOL
Would love to see how you would compare the Rytm and Digitakt. I plan on ordering the Digi, and wondering how I would use it compared with Rytm, which I haven't really gotten into yet.

Also can you change the pitch whitout changing the lengh ?
thanks
+Thibault JUILLARD the answer seems to be no to both questions
Hey Bobeats, Which do you like more the Digitakt or the op-1.
I really love how you can sample anything from anywhere right into the op-1 and it looks like you can also do that with the digitakt.
However I don't see a song mode on the digitakt where you can create a whole song like the op-1.
The OP-1 is a little more flexible in terms of making full songs but the Digitakt stronger sequencing capabilities for both audio and drums.
sickly tough
Sounds crisp! I mean like it has really awesome, high quality D/A converters. Can I humbly ask for a dedicated midi sequencer video? Mostly about CC implementation, LFO and Trig Conditions for midi. Thanks!
Midi sequencer video coming up =)
Yay!
I can't believe this thing doesn't have song mode. Seems like such a huge oversight.
Thank you!! :)
Hey Bo, Great channel. Superb videos. Does it record automation? Does it auto-quantize a rhythmic sample with a beat you create on the DT? Will it sync automatically to the beat?
It does not record parameter changes from an external source on the midi tracks. On the audio tracks I have not tried it.
I don’t think it syncs stuff in the way you describe. There is no time stretch for example
I've only watched 30 seconds of your video and I already want it! Do you think it would be redundant if I already have a Push 2?
+Vanessa Louzon very different machines. I think hardware samplers do offer something quite different from Push, but yeah it CAN be redundant.
hmmm I guess I'd need to try it! Anyway great vid, as always, and thanks for always replying!
You are welcome! I try my best
In theory. Not tested it.
p.s. I just found ur channel today and I must say Im in love!!
+Essio Fuzulu thanks man :-)
Great review! and Hi from NW Florida - watching this makes me question my new studio current equipment choices, If I may solicit your opinion...
UH40online Same setup here. What'd you decide?
... I am infront of my SP303 and imagine it's a Digitakt... damn, my imagination is not strong enough...
+R SIG use the force! "You are a Digitakt!"
How is Elektron's track record for adding new features to their products? Anything like Novation? Or mostly bug fixing and thats it?
+dahDougieBoy I dont think they got the same lvl of support as do Novation with the Circuit. But they have added features to other devices before. New drum synth engines for example to the Rytm
Thanks. Great videos btw. I'm very tempted to order one and your videos doesn't make it any easier to convince myself I don't need it :D.
+dahDougieBoy hehe :-) my bad!!
No time stretch what so ever so far. Overbridge is not out yet as far as I know. I don't have an ETA.
Excellent !!!
Thank you!
Why have two inputs (L+R) if it's to only playback mono samples? There's gotta be a way to have stereo samples.
Because the Digi can function as a sound card or simply as a 2 channel "mixer" (no real control over input level tho!) to monitor the incoming audio.
Mmmmm I see... that sort of makes sense, though is a bit of useless if you can't control the input level...
I'm guessing that the sample is of someone describing Willie from Death of a Salesman.
Naw =) its a philosopher
Great review!
Thanks mate! One new Digitakt video at 12 CET every day this week =)
please please please...the midi sequencer!! We have had videos on everything else already but I am holding off all decisions until someone shows how this works, can you save sequences, how easy are they to program, what features are there...
I KNOW :) I am working on one but I didn't want to rush it since I want to do it justice. Still some stuff that is unclear to me =)
TACK! Letar själv efter något i samma stil, vill ha så mycket som möjligt för pengarna.
Thanks Bo. So it's 1 single target assignable LFO per track right?
Yes, that is correct! Thanks mate
Hi Bo, get it through the analog distortion. I want to hear that bad boy gnarl :)
Cool idea!!
Thanks for the help ! I need to have it in front of me and figure it out, its the best way, I'll keep in touch. cheers !
I think Digitakt and Digitone is quite hard if you are a beginner. Check out Novation Circuit too!
BoBeats I’ll definitely check it out! I was thinking of starting with an elektron machine cause I really like the workflow from what I’ve seen and I’m willing to challenge myself to try it. Thank you for the suggestion tho!
A great overview. Thanks. i am however yet to see what this box can do, besides outboard midi control, that the Rytm cannot? Anyone??
The midi and sampling is the main parts compared to the Rytm MK1. But check Rytm MK2 it has sampling as well! And then there is the biiig price differences
cheers Bo. Will do. Keep up the inspirational vids.
Digitakt or Teenage Engineering OP-1 wich one should i buy for making songs? 😕
can you chop up one sample and assign the chops to different parts?
Yeah
Hi mate, thanks for making the vid!
Was wondering how the digitakt handles muting steps - does it clear the velocity and other params?
or does it just, mute the step? Might seem like a small detail but I really hate it when muting steps erases the pattern...
+Chris Stewart muting steps can be done in two ways. Either you erase the trig or you simply lower trig volume or velocity
Thanks for the info :)
I prefer muting steps by pressing the step key to mute - without destroying the pattern.
Workarounds like lowering the volume are cumbersome. Will have to check out the new MPC's .
Cheers anyway.
Good Vid Bo Thanks !
nice and informative !! will follow your vids closely! cheers
Thank you Olli! Glad to have you here
BoBeats You know your channel is good when celebs like Burg show up! Hey Olli!
sunil solanki haha :-) cheers mate!
Can you play chromatic chords on one sample or do I have to sample different chords ?
You can only play 1 sample per channel. But a sampled chord can be played chromatically. Not sure how great it will sound, depends on how far you push it
BoBeats bummer
Well my Electribe 2 did
That's a groovebox though not a drum machine :) And Elektron boxes eat Electribes for breakfast and walk away hungry IMHO!
I know dude, but for hip hop or other instrumental music genres I need more flexibility.
Is this a good machine for a beginner I want something that is not just a drum machine I trying to decide between this a novation circuit or roland tr08
Love 3:46 ... where are those vocals coming from? Is that a built-in demo?
+Bluemoth all music are original music by me
Was that all done with the Digitakt? the gnalry vocals and the backing? is that music sample from a complete track and available for purchase by the way? lovely piece of work.
do you know how to transfer projects and samples off the digitakt back to the computer? Manual only explains computer to digitakt. Thank you.
+Manish Sehgal I havnt tried doing this but you cna do some kind of syx dump :-)
BoBeats thank you!
Hello! Does Digitakt also have a cutoff and resonance?
Yepp
Excellent review as usual mate. Thanks very much :-)
thanks mate =)
Question; Can you chop a drum break(any sample) and then have all the hits live played sequenced onto the same track (each pad plays different sample but on the same track) , or is each track limited to one start/end point in the sample file? Any info is greatly appreciated.....thank you in advance :)
great overvieuw...def want 1
when tuning samples can you see the frequency/note your tuning to?? in chromatic mode does in play in the key of C?
No, its all done by ear unfortunately! Or using a tuner
I aspire to pronounce 'rytm' like you 😀
+allanroney rrrrrrr yyyyhhhh TEH eeemmmm
Can you backup the entire unit via USB?
+Maurice Steenbergen not sure!
Is it possible to have 1 button trigger more than 1 sample at the same time?
No
Can you use Chromatic mode on the MIDI tracks too?
yepp, it works very nicely
Can you plug a usb midi controller into it and record midi chords?
I dont think a usb midi controller works. I have not tried tho!
Did you sample John G?! (If not, I'm sure you could get some amazing samples if you did...)
haha omg! Best idea. EVER. I have to do that. (I have sampled Nick Batt of Sonic State tho... Coming in a video soon!)
BoBeats but does it have PWM?
Oh at 12 CET tomorrow you will most definitely get an answer to this!!
BoBeats haha! I feel there needs to be a Nick Batt/John G mashup some time in the future
I am overwhelmed with choices haha. Digitakt, the Model:Cycles, Polyend Play, Polyend Tracker, Deluge... Sheesh... The Digitakt seems to be the front runner. But does it have the ability to record or sequence unquantized steps?
Did you make the intro song with the Digitakt ?
Xxmona 10xX yepp
Im so hype to get mine love minimal and deep house hope you make a video on those styles 😎
Can anyone tell if I can control the Digitakt with another midi controller?
For example the novation launch control xl... The idea would be having the faders to control the audio intensity in each audio track!
Tks
Search Bobeats Digitakt Midi Controller and you should see my video on it. But the short is: yes! :-)
