The answer to why we like Lauren is because she's very straightforward and genuine. Her eyes are telling too, like you can see right through her soul or maybe not. Whatever. The Lauren in this interview is the same Lauren I have watched in the Terrace House.

I'm so glad I found this interview, I try to follow up on Lauren as much as can and I missed this one. She's incredible and has such a good mind and art. Definetly thankful to have watched aloha state and seen her art, thoughts and gigs.
Never thought she is not Japanese and definitely does not make you feel she is 18. Love her, I guess she is different. She is the kind of girl I would admire, spend time, just sit and listen to her talk. Definitely the one TV star I wanna meet.
Seriously, I love Lauren and she's super cool... Feel like the interviewer is not great at his job. For example, Lauren was talking about how people in the house can't interact with the commentators and that went totally over his head. I could listen to Lauren talk all day though; feel likes she's actually really mature for her age.
I think this is first time somebody who was on the show talks about what is going on behind the show!!! Great to know!! I don't understand whole things with my limited English skills though...
i loved seeing an illustrator on the show!! usually on shows when you hear about artists on shows they only do realism but it was so refreshing to see her style on the show, especially since we got to see her in the middle of painting and stuff.
Looooooove Terrace House. I watched all 48 episodes of the previous season in in Japan. And every episode of Hawaii. It's exactly like Real World Japan, except there are no assholes, no phony drama, no fistfights. Everyone is smart, compassionate, and thoughtful. It doesn't seem like there would be any drama but somehow it's endlessly fascinating and charming. Lauren was one of the best parts of Hawaii. You can't take your eyes off of her and she is genuinely talented as an artist.
helix Pretty sure they mean maturity wise. But compared to what her peers would be doing, it’s safe to say her lifestyle at least is very independent & mature. Everyone has room for growing.
I think you just have a warped version of how intelligent women are even at a young age. Teenage girls are not the vapid stupid and shallow individuals that TV shows want you to believe them to be.
Damn what she says about how it's okay to be awkward and anxious, that it's not something that's bad and shouldn't be hidden, I think those are my new words to live by.
wow thanks for the show, i have always been curious about lauren's upbringing and glad i found the show! so inspiring to hear her story and i love how she shares her experiences with the modeling experience!
Really interesting hearing from some of the house guests after the fact, and what their take was on the show, what happened, and where they are now. I've definitely got a greater appreciation for Lauren as a person after watching this!
Randomly came across a video of Lauren thanks to recommended videos. Thought she seemed super chill and really cool. Fell down the rabbit hole of Terrace House after that lol. Waiting for the new season of Aloha State is torture tho. Have been watching Boys and Girls in the City in the mean time. Tho I don't feel as strongly as connected to them, it's still super addictive and a fascinating show to watch! The Presenters are also hilarious. It's motivating me to actually start learning some Japanese now.
I watched the tokyo version first and i have the opposite feeling as you haha! I felt more connected to them. I also liked that they were actually in Japan and more culturally japanese than the international guys
I actually have to take back what said because during the second half of the show I started becoming more and more attached! I liked the people who came after a bit more. People like Handa whos time was short be was so damn cool. Genuinely someone I look up to now. Aloha State Part 4 is up on Netflix now too and I need to find the time to just binge through them lol.
Yeah I feel the exact opposite as well I cried when Boys and Girls in the city had ended because I had grown so attached. The aloha state I like it but I definitely am not as interested in it
Feel thats cultural. Japanese people are just more socially awkward than people in Hawaii (Or any other US state) would be. More formalities when meeting people. Which could be really seen when Taishi came to Hawaii. The mood of the house was a lot more formal than when the three current Hawaii residents (Yuya, Eric, Yusuke) were there
Sometimes it's easy to overlook things when placed in a specific context. When I watched Terrace House I saw her as a very smart but also somewhat shallow girl (which is obv. just an artifact of her age, who isn't at 18) but I really didn't realize at first how damn good of an artist she is. When I took a close look at her stuff it really blew my mind and I am not that easily impressed by art. But her imagination and ways to execute it is amazing. She really is very very talented. I just got blinded a bit by just seeing a girl who loses her poop as soon as a bit older guy with a pretty face and a nicely combed head of hair enters the stage (and he really didn't have thaaat much to offer otherwise tbh). But really, how could you blame an 18-year-old. It was just easy to forget because otherwise she seemed so mature and smart. I really hope she is successful with her art!
It's very refreshing to hear her speak more in English. Watching the show, I always felt that she was overly awkward in Japanese. Then again, with Japanese being my 2nd language, I probably would have been even worse if I was in her position on the show. Although something that has always struck me about her, is that her mental/verbal communication seems to be on a different wavelength than the facial/body vibes I get from her. In a way she is very easy to read, and in other ways, it's like her mind is somewhere else. She also just seems to be uncomfortable and second guessing herself or others all the time.
She's so beautiful and so is her art! I wish her all the best. I know her success will continue to grow. UPDATE: I didn't know she wasn't Japanese! Wow!!
Although I really like Lauren now I felt that her leaving early in AS was a good decision. I wasn't particularly interested in her during the show but now that she's got this fame out of it she's been opening up a lot more and lately it's definitely shining.
Tbh she was my favourite in TH Aloha state series. Idk why lol but she bought a different dynamic to the rest of the cast. 😂 but i did love everyone else too.
