My dad was stationed in Guam in the early 80s. Lived on base (South Tipalao) and went to Agat Elementary (Kinder) and Harry S Truman (Elementary). I still have family over there but haven't been back since. I miss how you can go around the island in a day; hope to go back someday.
Guam will forever be a part of your childhood. Yes, you definitely need to come back to visit. You’ll probably end up staying just like me. I grew up in the mainland, came back to visit and fell in love with the island. Buenas from Guam 🇬🇺
Love your channel.. I used to live in Guam back in the late 80s. And the prices back then was way cheaper. Back to the US, prices here has been sky high as well. Plenty of jobs in Guam back then, hope still a lot of jobs opportunities these days. I love it there.
Oh-those were the best times❤️ Seems like prices are high everywhere. So much has changed since then. Still plenty jobs, if you’re not choosy. Mostly fast food, store clerk, and security. Be safe over there, and Hafa Adai from Guam 🇬🇺
Chamorro here and permanent resident Visa holder living permanently in The Philippines. Here in the Phils, it is very common to enter a private business and shopping center/Mall with armed guards/hand held metal detectors, checking everybody’s personal bags upon entering. I find this security procedure effective to keep everybody honest and prevent peeps from bringing fire arms inside the establishments.
Buenas Che’lu, I pray it doesn’t come to that here on island. Armed Guards, wow. I also heard about terrorist groups and kidnappings for ransom, which justifies armed guards. Be safe Che’lu, sending prayers your way 🙏🏽
And I love how the supermarkets over there allow you to leave your personal belongings and other bags from entering the store..and just pick it up as u leave with a number ticket.
@@Neal_only1I've always said...if your gonna live in guam..much better and cheaper living in the Philippines as guam is very filipino oriented anyways...sorry chamorros 😆
As their policy for security purpose, it would be okay for bags to be searched at the entrance of the store, (same way they do to everybody when entering malls or casinos in the Philippines) but not to search inside the store without probable cause.
Wow. Looks all different. I lived on Guam in 1975-76 as an 11/12 yr old (61 now). My step-dad had been hired by Mark Pangalinan (probably butchered the name) to run the new Ben Franklin Store at the time. 7th grade was in Yigo - the Junior High there? We lived in Dededo and then in the summer we moved to a different house and I was registered in a new school, I can't remember the village name now) but then Super-Typhoon Pam came along and waxed everything. it was all a very interesting experience as a boy. We left back to stateside about 2 months after that and electricity was still weeks away from being restored. When we were there, I remember there was Carnation powdered milk or the cans of sweetened-condensed milk (that was very expensive) but at the time I wasn't paying attention much to prices, I'm sure it was expensive then too. While we were there fresh milk was started from a dairy on one of the other islands. I had some good friends in school and I thought the girls were all beautiful. LOL. I saw a recent image that Ben Franklin Store is closed/vacant now. At the time, it was the big, gleaming building in the area when it was brand-new, looks small now. Such memories! I'm sorry it is very expensive there, I'm sure like Hawaii and Alaska, most everything needs to be shipped or air-freighted there.
Thank you so much for sharing this part of history, and your childhood memories with us. Yes, Benfranklin, and Gibson were the top department stores then. Now it’s Macys, Kmart, Ross. Typhoon Pamela, I heard was the worse to hit Guam, because after hitting Guam it made a U turn and hit it again. I believe the Yigo Jr. High is now FB Leon Guerrero Middle school, and Benfranklin is now Docomo Pacific, a Japanese phone company. So much has changed since. It was such a pleasure reading your story/history. Thank you 🙏🏽 much appreciated, and Hafa Adai from Guam 🇬🇺
@@planetguam8475 Oh, thank you! Hafa Adai to you as well! We had moved to Guam from Homestead, FL (south of Miami) so the weather was pretty similar (Homestead later got destroyed by Huricane Andrew in the early '90's.) We had 2 earthquakes there on Guam too! One was 6.5 and the other 6.75. It was wild seeing the house walls like wave back and forth! I don't recall Typhoon Pam backtracking. There was a super typhoon that was a couple of months before but it wasn't a direct hit, it brushed by a couple hundred miles off. But Pam was HUGE, slow (8-9 mph) and we felt it for days before ad days after. Luckily the houses we lived in were both reinforced concrete so they stood. It was wild going outside as the eye came over, everything was perfectly calm and quiet...This was all for a half hour or so, then, back inside, nail the doors shut again. After the quakes and the storms, mom had had enough and wanted to go back stateside. It is a beautiful island though!
The cost of living is high in TX too. Hopefully in a year or so we'll get some relief. What year were the grocery stores founded? It's interesting that the most expensive grocery store uses a search policy. Hopefully Donki has their policy posted. I wouldn't shop there. I like the applause you use for Spam. 😂 Great video ❤
Hello Linda. Donki is the newest to open, just this year. Kmart was in the early 90’s. Cost-U-Less in the late 80’s or early 90’s. 7 Day Supermarket in the 2010’s not sure. Payless is by far the oldest. It’s locally owned, I believe it opened in the 70’s, possibly earlier. Trump said he’s going to brings down inflation. Take care in Texas, and Hafa Adai from Guam 🇬🇺
I understand your frustration; I wouldn’t want my bag searched in front of everyone either, as it can feel like being treated as if I did something wrong. However, policies and laws are different matters. As a private business, they have the right to set and enforce their own policies, including hiring security to implement them.police officers need probable cause to conduct a search, but as a customer choosing to enter their business, you agree to abide by their policies. If you’re uncomfortable with this, you always have the option to shop elsewhere.
First of all, thank you for your comment. I wonder if this is just a Japanese business practice, because never have I been subjected to this in any American business e.g. Kmart, Ross, Walmart, Home Depot etc... As a young teen I was caught shoplifting at a Raley's supermarket. Security saw me through second story surveillance mirror windows. They apprehended me and I had to call my parents. Thing is they witnessed/saw the act that warranted the search. Here at Donki they can search you at a whim notice without reason. Go through your "Personal property" simply because you are in their establishment. In other words, I have to leave my right to privacy at the door, to shop and give them my money. If this is store policy, I wished I was aware of it earlier, because I would have never entered - they just lost a customer. Donki will not succeed on Guam unless that policy is changed. This policy is so alien to us locals/ Americans. I sincerely thank you for this healthy debate, it is what I was asking for. I wish more would chime in.
bro you act so entitled going into someones business trying to tell them what to do lol. Inform yourself on the business' policies before you go inside. No one asked you to go shop there lol. This sort of policy is 100% American. You can tell by checking where the store in question is located. You trying to say its an Asian policy shows you need to get out more, or alternatively you're just slightly racist lmao. th-cam.com/video/l-MAou8OnrI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=mFhxKgzwlzE3h3sI&t=2070 You're literally standing next to security's "receipt check" signage. Why they need probably cause? they're not the police -___- you watching too much tv brother

as a 1st grader in the late 70s, I remember groceries being really expensive that about half of the island population relied on what was then called "Food Stamps" now "EBTs" issued by gov assistance. A lot of the stuff you showed are very similar to mainland costs. But that milk at almost $10, yikes
Buenas Che’lu. I’m glad to hear prices are comparable to the mainland, confirming we’re not overcharged here. Do you remember what year ebt replaced paper food stamps? Just curious. Sending prayers and blessings from Guam 🇬🇺
People tend to have the most issues with unexpected bag checks. Being pulled aside at a store or other venue and asked to show what’s in your purse or shopping bag can feel intrusive. However, security guards typically have a reason for making these requests. For instance, many stores have their security guards do random bag checks to minimize the risk of theft and ensure the safety of customers and employees.
Maybe so. But not on Guam or any other stores I’ve been to in the mainland. Up coming video will prove it. If there is a reason, probability, or any action by the customer to warrant such a search e.g. putting something in his bag, shoving something under his shirt, yes. According to security supervisor and comments, Donki can search for whatever reason or for no reason at all. It’s easy to say until you, yourself is told to open your purse/bag for inspection in front of others. Thanks for joining this healthy discussion.
@@planetguam8475 Let me clarify my comments pertaining your video . A security guard can search your bag in a retail store if you give them your consent, but they can't search you without your consent. Security guards generally need your consent to search your bag. You can say no and they cannot force you to search you or surrender your bag. However, it may be a condition of entry that bags be searched on entry or exit. Store owners have the right to check customers' and employees' bags to prevent theft and minimize stock loss. However, They must clearly display a sign at the store entrance that states that customers' bags will be searched

no, they do not do random search in bags. I guarantee you that they do not have that in their store policy. It is because he is a man and man normally do not walk around with a bag and also, he somewhat looks like a hobo (no offense intended)

Question…Where’s that store located at never seen it before.. man I miss home been away from the island too dame long. I’m out here in the states and seeing your videos just makes me miss Guam..
A lot the products you showed is cheaper than here in California. Not to mention, Guam doesn’t charge sales tax so you pay the sticker price. Nice content 🤙🏽
when i was stationed there in 1992-93, Guaminian natives can shop at Navy Exchange.. did they stop that practice?.. i noticed that the stacked up on beers.. cases and cases of it..
Hello, a lot has changed since September 11, 2001. Locals can’t shop in base, unless they’re in the service or a dependent. Thanks for your service and Hafa Adai, from Guam 🤙🏽
Thank you for helping homeless Mike! Yes u are right, always do your kind giving in private. I eat expired foods too. I'm eating toast for dinner & I live in Australia. Cost of groceries is insane world wide. 🌎 Be blessed 💜
Many blessings to you. I’m saving up to buy Mike another phone for Christmas. I pray someone doesn’t trick him into swapping it again. I eat outdated foods, taste the same to me. I do it to save money, also I don’t like food being wasted, which will happen to outdated food if not sold a month after expiration. Take care in Australia, and Hafa Adai from Guam.
I worked in rural Alaska for a summer in 2014 and it was the same way. Unfortunately these places don’t have the economies of scale like the mainland. Everything is flown or barged in making it super expensive. By the way I work in law enforcement and the security officer is correct. Private business don’t need “probable cause” for a search, that only applies to government agents like the police. You already consent to the search when you enter the store, or you can stop shopping there. Many stores where I work have policies where you can’t even bring a bag into the store, or leave it at the front with customer service or checkout.
Thank you for the info. Yes, shipping cost is added to the retail price, which will bring the prices up. As for "Probable Cause" I was using it specifically what the word is literally, as defined: reasonable grounds (for making a search, pressing a charge, etc.). It is also not exclusive to law enforcement, although most commonly exercised by: [6] Notably, this definition does not require that the person making the recognition must hold a public office or have public authority, which allows the citizenry’s common-sense understanding of the legal standard of probable cause for arrest.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probable_cause *if security witnessed us shoplifting they can search, and call the police to arrest us. Yes, it's mostly practiced by law enforcement, but not exclusive to them. I could have probable cause to have the police check your car, if I witnessed you on video, brandishing a firearm. Note: I am using it as the very definition, not as a legal code.
Please see part 2. Security was in the right to search. I apologized to them, and proved that it was not common practiced to search without any reason whatsoever, on Guam or any American business that I am aware of. Also common curtesy should be exercised to paying customers but not required: pls see video.
I do a lot of shopping, but I’m in Pennsylvania USA I’m not in Guam but I think the seven day supermarket seems to be a better place to shop. I do a lot of shopping and price comparing and I would say that was the cheapest place for this video anyway that I thinkkeep being awesome kudos
I don’t see a problem with the search. I’ve been stopped before. I had nothing to hide. It wouldn’t be hard to stuff that bag full and waltz right out the door.
awesome video again brother ❤ that was totally wrong the procedures at donki as a undercover security officer before for payless in agana 35 years ago you have to visually see items put into the bag to warrant a search of personal belongings because that's an invasion on people's rights just say they have something in their bag that's really personal they don't want to expose their personal items to them so i think that was totally unprofessional also prices in homes commanding a price over 5k have amenities like a gym, view, swimming pool etc luxury things take care brother i always love your videos brother ❤
Wow! Your knowledge and experience in both security and real estate is very appreciated. If this is store policy then security didn’t have a choice but to do their job. As for paying 5k a month, yes amenities is in order. Thanks for your expertise ❤
Loaf of bread for $4+? Man, I thought that $2.50 for a loaf here in PNI is outrageous but yet we can't really compare - because our incomes and minimum wages cannot be compared....meat and egg prices aren't too bad but the cost of milk and bread there are way out of our backfield here😮
The amount of sakis on Guam is crazy work. I think everyone should have their bags looked at especially if it pertains to products coming out of the establishment being shopped at.
I'm sure Donki would love to search your bags. They seem to really love doing that. Good luck 🤙🏽. And I agree there's a lot of Saki's on island, but at least put up a sign telling your customers that it is policy, like the way 7 day supermarket did. It's called curtesy to customers, unless you don't value their business.
Actually, many places in Asia “shopping centers”, before entering the shopping center, consumers’ bags are security checked for any concealed weapons before entering the shopping centers or shops. This has been a common practice in Asia after the take down of the twin towers in New York. I actually feel safer shopping in crowded places with this type of security in place. Btw, they do the same at the Donki store in Bangkok. Better to be safe than to regret not having any safety net. Great video, love it.
Thank you for the info. I’m glad I put this on TH-cam, comments like yours make me understand the situation better. Goes to show I don’t travel much. Thanks again.
If the searching/inspection is done at the entrance of the store or before entering the store, it's ok ... otherwise if you are already inside the store and inspected randomly, it's not, unless there is probable cause. Also the inspection should be done by the security guard discreetly, without exposing to the public the personal items or what's inside the bag, unless it is an illegal item.
Prim, on the real my friend and I went there like 3:30 in the morning and I swear we were the only 2 plus like 5 employees. Anyways I carry a pouch across my chest and I always wear dark jackets with the hood so as we were leaving this young guy same spot where that security guard is at Stopped me and literally said " They caught me stealing " but I said fook I ain't that type of person then he goes " Yes sir we caught you stealing, stealing my Heart ", I was like wtf kinda store is this!! 😂🤦🏻♂ Anyways ya I think they do that only to the Chronic Hours shoppers cus nothing else to do nai!! 😂🤣🤦🏻♂🤙🏽
Yes, if in fact it is their policy then they have the right. This is a Japanese business and I'm not familiar with their practice. But I'm very familiar with American business, and never have I witness this being practiced. Not at Home depot, Safeway, Payless, Ross, etc...if it was, they always had a witness, they always had a reason. Donki don't need one, they can search you just for the heck of it - Lol. Because I'm now aware of their policy, I won't be going back to Donki, and if they continue to enforce this policy, Donki won't survive on Guam. Thank you for your comment, and for this healthy debate.
@@DennisA-v4i True. I had better expectations for Donki. Their policy isn't for Guam or the mainland, therefor is doomed for failure on island. We as locals, or Americans are just not used to this practice, it's alien to us, and better suited for other countries. I'd rather shop at Walmart or any other place for that matter, than risk being humiliated. Thanks for your comment. Take care and many blessings to you.
Besides the prices I can’t get over the fact how big no HUGE that store was, how clean, how many products, overkill if you ask me..and surprisingly empty of customers. Guam never been there anyway greetings from 🇳🇱
Wow! From France. Yes, huge store and overkill. We all thought it would run Kmart out of business, but Kmart here is still strong. Hafa Adai, greetings from Guam 🇬🇺
That is so BS! I always shop at Donki with a pouch/sachel (larger than what your friend has and I never got searched). From my understanding, those searches were unwarranted for sure. They probably judged your friend for his appearance because I know for a fact other people would not get searched there. If you can get the full legal policy hand print stating their claims then we can see if they have legal probable clause. To be fair though, I never shop late at night there so I would not know if their store policies differs from regular traffic hours.
Thanks for clarity on this subject. Yes, I believe profiling and judging had a lot to do with this incident. And yes, it would definitely be good to see this policy in black and white, it will clear security, who has the burden of enforcing this policy, they were just doing their job.
women for sure will not be searched for any size bag unless they see them in camera stealing. He was profiled because men dont normally carry bags and appearance
They do have some good paying jobs, but those are mostly taken through nepotism or family connections, or what we call the “Parr/Friend system”. But If you are a skilled worker with experience, you won’t have any problems finding work that pays decent. Minimum wage here is $9.25, plenty of those job’s around though.
If you dont consent to search or seizure they have no right to search, policy is not law, they can try to detaine you if they have reasonable suspicion but to a extend. As for prices on Guam it's becoming a mini Hawaii.
I felt the same way. After reading the comments, I learned security was not at fault. They were doing their job in accordance to store policy. It’s the policy - it’s so unAmerican - I don’t agree with it, therefore I will no longer shop there. And yes, they did detain Gunter, which really frustrated me. Yes, I’ve heard the prices in Hawaii are expensive too. Thanks for commenting, it’s much appreciated 🙏🏽
In the Philippines it is common policy that before you enter the mall or supermarket, the guard will have to check your bags, they have a stick to just check it. They don't touch the bags. Then that's it you can go in
Yes, I’ve learned this through comments such as yours, thanks. In Guam or the mainland, it is not common policy nor is it commonly practiced. I also understand there are armed, dangerous rebel groups, and kidnappings for ransom. In that case, better check that bag twice. Stay safe, 🙏🏽
Wow prices in Guam is too high . It"s more expensive than seattle . How much is the minimum wage in Guam? . Guest need to learn how to bake and plants vegetable to save money
Nothing grows or manufacture there, it’s crazy how a pack of strawberries in Guam is 10$ the last time I was there unlike here in the states it’s just 3-6$ depending where you shop.
Wow, lactaid here in IL is just $4.48, spam is $3.98..... Didn't realize it's more expensive in there .... Your eggs and meat are much cheaper though... But what's the minimum wage in there? Minimum wage in here is $15, but I'm currently earning around $40/hour, and my pay wouldn't be enough for a family of 4, so my wife needs to work too to have a decent life and able to send our kids to college. Just wanted to compare the cost of living, thanks
Thanks for the info. While some things may seem cheaper here, if you look at the whole picture, it’s not - due to minimum wage differences. $15 is high compared to Guam’s $9.25. So either way, Guam is more expensive. To many of us here on island, $15 per hour would be a huge blessing. Thanks for sharing, and take care in the mainland 🤙🏽
I lived in Guam from the 90's to year 2000's everything was cheap back then and alot of jobs and tourist Guam was booming, Ive been living in the US mainland for 15 year's now and everything here is up too, everything is way expensive now a days.
Hello, yes I agree. Inflation is not sparing anyone. Guam’s not bustling like before, especially after Covid. Slowly it’s picking back up. Still have many jobs, but mostly fast food and security. Take care in the mainland, and Hafa Adai from Guahan 🇬🇺
Lol, crossing the border 😂🤣. Yes, according to their policy they can search you anytime, for any reason or for no reason at all. Once you step into their store, all your rights to privacy is gone. The least they can do is put up a sign about this policy at the entrance.
I would agree that any retail establishment has the right to establish their in-store policy to prevent shrink. It's becoming increasingly common everywhere. If you don't like the policy, then don't shop there.
Exactly. I wished I was aware of this policy earlier, wouldn’t step a foot in there. From the comments, I’m learning this is practiced in Asia. I’m perfectly fine with Local and U.S. practices, thank you. Love hearing your comments, they’re simple and to the point.
The target store in waikiki they have so much behind locked cabinet now. Such a pain doing shopping. I think i'de rather have someone looking in my bag
I’m certain Donki security would love to search your bag, your purse, and your car. Just ask them and they’ll hop right to it. Best wishes and happy holidays.
Just so we’re clear, to search a persons bag, they’d have to wait until the person steps outside the store to actually search their bags and say that they’re stealing items from the store. Yes, even though you see them put items in their bags, it wouldn’t be considered stealing until you actually see them walk out the store. Its wrong to search and accuse in the store bc they could use that against them and say something else like “ I was holding it in my bag bc I got tired holding the items in my hand “ 💀🤣 YES ! THIS IS A THING ! secondly, they can’t just blindly accuse somebody bc of the way they look or how oddly suspicious they act. It’s considered under discrimination and that would be a mistake on their end when someone else get searched like that and be sued. By store policy pending on where you are at, yes bag searches are not illegal.. but small bags and pouches wouldn’t be considered “ searchable “ just because it’s small and could only fit wallets.. so makes no sense to search on small bags, it would only be big backpacks.
Prices are almost the same where I live in, and that scene you posted on don quijote they have the right to check your bag it's their store, here in Oahu Hawaii don quijote stores they make sure that all the security storage your bag in the lockers and give you a number of plats after you return your locker number to the counter service you can claim them once you're done shopping at their store.
I guess it really depends on what area you live in. Another Hawaiian gave a price quote in the comments and it was much more expensive. And Yes, if you don’t like their policy, just don’t shop there. All of this was thoroughly explained in the following video. Please see it, and thank you for the info and comment. Hafaloha from Guam 🇬🇺
In California lots of thief’s convince women to use they’re purses to conceal because it’s harder to convince a woman to allow her purse to be searched. Hopefully prop 36 soon changes things.
@planetguam8475 ...prop 36 be voted on tomorrow and passed. It ends the $950 misdemeanor and lowers the theft amount to turn it into a felony. Also ends early release program for non violent criminals. Our cities have increased in crime post pandemic to 60 to 80% in every big city in the US.
A very good possibility. There’s people out here that has no morals. I’ve seen him with a very nice, expensive bike that someone donated to him, a few days later he’s pushing a junky rusted bike with a flat tire. He told me someone traded it with him. Wow. The cost of food is really expensive. I think the gallon of milk was $16.99. Maybe I saw that wrong. I’m on the east coast in Virginia. Some bread loaves are over $3, but those are the national brands. Eggs can be as high as $3.49, again national brands. Milk, half gallon a little over $2 bucks and gallon $3. Whoa, Guam.
Out here in the Mainland US example Disneyland they search bags before entering same situation could be for safety reasons most events in stadiums as well require clear bags it’s not uncommon for establishments to search bags upon entering and exiting Each business have their own policies
True, and if you don’t like their policies then don’t shop there. Donki’s the only department store/ supermarket that does this on island. I’m positive that other businesses will appreciate my money.
Even if I don’t agree with Donki search bag policy, they are a private business and have a right to enforce policies and refuse service to anyone unless they are discriminating under federal and local laws. Just have them search your bags, it only takes a few seconds. No big deal. Edit 1: I think places that enforces said policy should post clear visible signage upon exit so there’s no drama.
I love Guam and worked there for combined 6 months. The costs are really high but I was living in Honolulu at the time so… yeah, I was more than used to it. The Jones Act ruined our Islands.
Unless you're making 6 figures don't even consider living in Guam. We visit Guam with my asawa from the Philippines. Has beautiful beaches and nice shopping areas, lots of Korean tourist. However housing cost is insane. Many people need to go to the mainland for medical services. Their product distribution system is all from America as opposed to direct trade from the Philippines or Japan and product cost is severely. inflated. The roads are very good and Toyota Tacomas the vehicles of choice. The people are really friendly a nice Filipino community. Donkie Donkie just opened up there so that's interesting. Enjoy.
A very accurate description of Guam. Definitely going to need money to live here, prices are crazy. A lot of people are now working two jobs just to make end meet. Thanks for your accurate observation in a nutshell.
Thanks. Maybe we’ve seen each other. I’m always driving around Tumon, Tamuning area. Paste link to your channel. Take care and drive safe, roads been wet from all this rain lately.
Wow! Milk is $8.49 & $16.99? I feel so much for my family still living there. If only something can be done to cut those costs in half for the people at home. Plus; utilities, gas, other necessities are so expensive. No wonder, those who should be retiring aren’t able to do so. C’mon leaders of Guam-DO BETTER for our locals! This is our island & if nothing gets done or no one tries to make it somewhat easier and affordable to live on island, there will no longer be “taotao Guåhan” living there. We are truly the next “priced out of paradise”! 🥺 Thjngs are going up out here in the mainland, but geez… #kahuloGuahan #dobetterleadersofguam
I feel you. Hopefully Trump keeps his word and fix inflation. As for Guam leaders, you are right. I’m sure they can do something, like give working parents with children bigger tax breaks, or even supplemental EBT, even if they don’t qualify, just to help out until inflation is dealt with. Always good hearing from the mainland, and people like yourself. Gracias 🙏🏽 and Hafa Adai from Guahan .
True, but the way they treat their customers is excellent. In other big name stores they can get snobby. Here, your treated like a friend, or even family.
unfortunately, like donkey that is the same in most stores... the sad part is that they feel any bag a male person carries to even what is called a man purse it needs to be searched but a woman who carries a purse the size of a backpack doesn't.
Sorry to say, but it’s not so. Upcoming video will prove it. Never have I ran into this situation on Guam or in the mainland. But yes, you are correct him being a man and carrying a bag (sexism) had a lot to do with this. Thank you for your comment.
@planetguam8475 no. Cartel is after me. Planning on moving to Guam to get away. Thank you for the info. No Mexican gangs either? Ms13 Mexican Mafia etc?
Are these the gangs operating in Guam. Cause these are the gangs that are destroying the lives of Guam's people and bringing proverty and problems. Making the island very unstable and dangerous. Look at kuamnews on drugs and issues getting around Guam. ?????
I have traveled other countries and never heard this kind of policy to search the customers at will without probable cause. Are you guys running Kim Jong Un's regime in Guahan?
My thoughts exactly. But it is their policy. I don’t agree with it, so I won’t shop there, and risk being embarrassed. My hard, earned money could be spent at a business that deserves it. Thanks for your comment.

Be safe Che’lu, sending prayers your way 🙏🏽
Use to live in Guam as a resident US born now a permanent resident in the Philippines, Cavite❤ love the people and their culture❤

Jessilyn gave your channel a shout out on kuam. Great job planet Guam

Hey brother! Appreciate the love from Saipan. 🙏🏽
@@planetguam8475 well said 💯
bro you act so entitled going into someones business trying to tell them what to do lol. Inform yourself on the business' policies before you go inside. No one asked you to go shop there lol.
This sort of policy is 100% American. You can tell by checking where the store in question is located. You trying to say its an Asian policy shows you need to get out more, or alternatively you're just slightly racist lmao.

as a 1st grader in the late 70s, I remember groceries being really expensive that about half of the island population relied on what was then called "Food Stamps" now "EBTs" issued by gov assistance.
A lot of the stuff you showed are very similar to mainland costs. But that milk at almost $10, yikes

It is also not exclusive to law enforcement, although most commonly exercised by: [6] Notably, this definition does not require that the person making the recognition must hold a public office or have public authority, which allows the citizenry’s common-sense understanding of the legal standard of probable cause for arrest.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probable_cause
*if security witnessed us shoplifting they can search, and call the police to arrest us.
A lot cheaper in Saipan.
Informative video, thank you.

I don’t see a problem with the search. I’ve been stopped before. I had nothing to hide. It wouldn’t be hard to stuff that bag full and waltz right out the door.
I’m pretty sure they’d love to search your car too. They’re bored and your car is on their property. Just ask them and they’ll do it.
awesome video again brother ❤ that was totally wrong the procedures at donki as a undercover security officer before for payless in agana 35 years ago you have to visually see items put into the bag to warrant a search of personal belongings because that's an invasion on people's rights just say they have something in their bag that's really personal they don't want to expose their personal items to them so i think that was totally unprofessional also prices in homes commanding a price over 5k have amenities like a gym, view, swimming pool etc luxury things take care brother i always love your videos brother ❤
Wow! Your knowledge and experience in both security and real estate is very appreciated. If this is store policy then security didn’t have a choice but to do their job. As for paying 5k a month, yes amenities is in order. Thanks for your expertise ❤
Loaf of bread for $4+? Man, I thought that $2.50 for a loaf here in PNI is outrageous but yet we can't really compare - because our incomes and minimum wages cannot be compared....meat and egg prices aren't too bad but the cost of milk and bread there are way out of our backfield here😮
I didn't realize just how expensive Guam was. It's comments like yours that help me understand better. Thank you. BTW, where is PNI?

@@DennisA-v4i True. I had better expectations for Donki. Their policy isn't for Guam or the mainland, therefor is doomed for failure on island. Hello Frank. Always good to hear from you brother.
@ 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

Outragous prices,, are good paying jobs there.
Guam is so important to all of us. Im from west virginia, usa.

Hey, thanks bro, much appreciated
If you dont consent to search or seizure they have no right to search, policy is not law, they can try to detaine you if they have reasonable suspicion but to a extend. As for prices on Guam it's becoming a mini Hawaii.
I felt the same way. After reading the comments, I learned security was not at fault. They were doing their job in accordance to store policy. It’s the policy - it’s so unAmerican - I don’t agree with it, therefore I will no longer shop there. And yes, they did detain Gunter, which really frustrated me.
Yes, I’ve heard the prices in Hawaii are expensive too.

Thanks for the info. While some things may seem cheaper here, if you look at the whole picture, it’s not - due to minimum wage differences. $15 is high compared to Guam’s $9.25. So if I carry my purse, they will search it too? What kind of policy is that? crossing the borders or the airport policy?? 😂

Thanks for this info. It is because of comments like yours, I learn about this issue more each time. Have a blessed day, and thanks again 🙏🏽
@@planetguam8475 you’re definitely welcome, I hope it helps with the situation.
That's my favorite aisle too
Thanks, I was starting to think it was only me 😊
Dang Bro! I didn't know cost of groceries in Guam is pricey!
I know. It’s getting crazy here.
In California lots of thief’s convince women to use they’re purses to conceal because it’s harder to convince a woman to allow her purse to be searched. Hopefully prop 36 soon changes things.
Thanks for your comment. If you don’t mind me asking, what is prop 36 and how would it change things? Btw, Buenas from Guam 🇬🇺
What happened to Mike's bike? Did it get stolen from him? I always saw him riding one back in the day.
A very good possibility. There’s people out here that has no morals. I’ve seen him with a very nice, expensive bike that someone donated to him, a few days later he’s pushing a junky rusted bike with a flat tire. He told me someone traded it with him. Just like someone traded the cellphone I got for him with an old portable DVD player that played less than an hour on a full charge. Prayers for Mike 🙏🏽
@@planetguam8475 Aw man I feel for him. Whenever my fam had a party in Dededo he'd sometimes ride by on his bike and ask for some food and we'd give him some plates. Awful that people would take advantage of Mike.
Whoa, Guam.
Yes, you read it right $16.99 for a gallon of milk. If something isn’t done, our future generation will have to work three jobs just to survive 😞
Out here in the Mainland US example Disneyland they search bags before entering same situation could be for safety reasons most events in stadiums as well require clear bags it’s not uncommon for establishments to search bags upon entering and exiting
Each business have their own policies
True, and if you don’t like their policies then don’t shop there. Donki’s the only department store/ supermarket that does this on island. I’m positive that other businesses will appreciate my money.
Inflation needs to stop we cannot eat like before
True. At this rate, 20 years from now, we won’t be able to afford Spam and rice.
Or just don’t shop there. Thanks for your comment.
Wow the price over there are so much high everyone's there need food stamps for sure 🤔😕
Yes, I agree. My sister is a school teacher raising four kids, and could really use the food stamps.
does Guam farm or fish for foods
Sue that grocery store this is not right to accuse you for no evidence
Gunter decided not to. Without him, no case.
No Walmart?
Now that you mentioned it, makes me wonder why it’s not here yet.
Correct. But they do have one full service, Super K-Mart in Guam
CUSTOMER SERVICE IS GOOD IN GUAM 7 DAY SUPERMARKET
Yes, the best.
I like you videos I have similar videos driving thru Guam
Thanks. Maybe we’ve seen each other. I’m always driving around Tumon, Tamuning area. Paste link to your channel. Take care and drive safe, roads been wet from all this rain lately.
Nice bike
Thanks. It was in a storage by the beach for over 10 yrs, a rust bucket when I first got it. Restored everything.
Thjngs are going up out here in the mainland, but geez… #kahuloGuahan #dobetterleadersofguam
Great store but that space is tight.
True, but the way they treat their customers is excellent. In other big name stores they can get snobby. Here, your treated like a friend, or even family.
Are the prices he is quoting in U.S. dollars?
Yes, we use only U.S. currency here. Also, our minimum wage mirrors California.
Eat everyday ramen and noodles ,,and taroo to save penny helps
Yes, it does. Thanks for pointing this out 👍🏽
Does Guam have grab or taxi? Uber??
Yes, taxi and transit buses. We have Stroll, same concept as Uber.
If you come to Philippines, all bags are searched before you enter any store. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Yes, and in other Asian countries too. Not in Guam or other U.S. territories.
Been there in 2000 weekend Friday to Monday came back like plenty Obesity out of shape people there hahahahahahaha respect
😂 we love our women thick and juicy.
unfortunately, like donkey that is the same in most stores... the sad part is that they feel any bag a male person carries to even what is called a man purse it needs to be searched but a woman who carries a purse the size of a backpack doesn't.
Sorry to say, but it’s not so. Upcoming video will prove it. Never have I ran into this situation on Guam or in the mainland. But yes, you are correct him being a man and carrying a bag (sexism) had a lot to do with this. Thank you for your comment.
Quite expensive.
Yes, it is. At this rate, I’m going to need two jobs soon.
figured items on guam island would be expensive but omg...17 dollars for 1 gallon of milk.... oh hellz no
Yes, I haven’t bought milk in a while and was shocked to find one at that price.
Is there any cartel in Guam? Mostly Yakuza and Russian mafia?
Not that I’m aware of. If you are one, get hold of me.
It's a military community. The US military don't take kindly to organized crime near their bases.
I never got searched and I hold a big diaper bag and load it with free goodies from Japan 😂
LOOOOOL 😂😂😂
Your videos are hilarious! And the truth on Guam. Love it my gf too
I have traveled other countries and never heard this kind of policy to search the customers at will without probable cause. Are you guys running Kim Jong Un's regime in Guahan?
My thoughts exactly. But it is their policy. I don’t agree with it, so I won’t shop there, and risk being embarrassed. My hard, earned money could be spent at a business that deserves it. Thanks for your comment.
It’s arm and a leg prices over there, you need to move to Southern California, price in Costco seems less from everything you see there ,I don’t get it maybe the remote ness of the place, sardine packs you describe it’s a dollar at grocery warehouse, too much over there,my friend move here away from islands too prizee
Gasoline price is $3.89 at Costco here.only bad is the rent $2000 for single room apartment, food is cheap here
Wow! The rent tho
Yes, way too expensive here. Thanks for info
wrong to search without cause
Why are Guam grocery prices cheaper than military commissary in California? Your gas is the same prices. Also your rent is cheaper than California.
Really? Laychay, Che’lu. First time hearing this. Tell us more fan. You take care back there Che’lu 🤙🏽
Guam is very expensive
true. I didn't realize how expensive Guam was until people from the mainland left comments.
With that accent you are not from the USA. What country?
I’m from Guam🇬🇺 I grew up in California. I’m a Chamorro native. My accent is mixed Chamorro / state side
@ aha. Well I was born in Rancho Cucamonga Ca and I would never recognize it
I lived in Sacramento Ca. in my early teens. Came back to Guam a decade later, and made an effort to regain my Chamorro accent. So every now and then you’ll hear a mix of both.
Bro the bread here is only $3.40 in saipan
Really? Shows how far behind Guam has fallen. Thanks for the info.
@planetguam8475 hafa adai love ur video I TH-cam bro much respect
I'm going to open a bread bakery in Guam, the bread is over priced! That's not an important item, it's local water and flour, there price gouging in Guam
Hope you can do it, lots of Guam folks will be grateful for your services 🙏🏽
@planetguam8475 if I move there I willl l, I'm living in Florida at the moment, I been here 18 years but im thinking of moving to Saipan... Your a cool dude! You make Guam feel a bit depressing to me, it's feels like a lonely place
I’m Filipino live in HONOLULU once I’m 62 it’s over I need to go back in my country Philippines 🇵🇭 to live better life…… I have 12 years to go….. Guam like Hawaiian island
Many Filipinos on Guam are doing the same. They retire or work two jobs to save for retirement here, then move back to the Philippines after retiring.
Very Expensive in Guam ! While here in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 Much more Cheapest
Really? Wow, Guam is more expensive than Western Europe. Hope Trump does something about this inflation.
im from seattle use to live in guam back 2009 to 2021. Even here grocery is so expensive now we are in inflation. Gas is $4 to 5 per gallon
Buenas, looks like inflation hit us all. $4 gal of gas that’s military base price, wished it was still like that outside. Thanks for the info. Take care in the mainland and Hafa Adai from Guam 🤙🏽
