4:31 I feel your pain dude, I remember when I grabbed this comic for the first time and looking at the cover being like "Wow a camping trip story, awesome" and being disappointed, not just at the fact the "camping" part happens for only one issue before the fire starts, but also they don't even drive the cool looking van in the cover.
Exactlyyyy I was expecting some goofs and gaffs with the girls. I didn't get the adventurous drive there, and I only got a quick story of fortune telling for fun. Should make another special that's a big ol' road trip-camper story.
@kotytang Ok... imagine you have two people. One is _friendly_ , but in a not particularly charming or attractive way. The other has lots of people around them constantly, they have a _magnetic_ personality. That would be like Sonic. He's a _buddy_ type of friendly. Belle is a FriendlyBot, she's well intentioned towards others but has never had actual friends.
@ She had plenty of people in Windmill village, and even Mr. Tinker. She was just Mr. tinker the second. She just got outcasted after the metal virus ended
Yes, BUT, those "magical" things that have occured in the Sonicverse are actual, physical, factual items, substances and their actions/reactions that we and the characters have seen function. Tarot cards are mysticism. Their function relies on a person's belief. No basis in reality.
@kotytang Not how I explain it to myself... The way I see it, anything that is chaos in Sonic's world is an observable science to them - like gravity. Mysticism like fortune telling, tarot cards or any of that new age load is firmly based on one's beliefs - if you believe in it, it's true to _you_ . Gravity works regardless if you believe in it or not.
You make a good point, though I would perhaps argue that the ghosts in SA2 could fall into similar unexplainable logic since they're just straight-up spirits with no explanation to how they really work.
16:38 i mean to be fair atleast she didn't repeat the same mistake she did in issue 32 and just leave jewel be with all of the responsibility but instead she actually stick with her to the end and comforted her and give her encouragement and confidence that jewel can do it (i mean...since she's the compassion and caring one in the cast it make sense and very in-character for her) that's some character growth right there for jewel to become a better leader and amy redeemed herself from what she did to jewel. i do think since evan stanley took over after the metal virus idw amy's writing significantly got better (not that idw amy was bad at the start imo but still) and she's written well for the most part in IDW imo i mean...there's a reason why most fans in the community actually like IDW amy if not all.
This is true. She was there to encourage Belle to come up with a plan. Although, Amy used Jewel in a pretty selfish way. She didn't have a plan of her own in both instances of trying to quell the fire. I'm sure that Jewel can become a better leader, but I don't understand why she even wanted to be leader. She never had any intention of leading the heroes at all, she even makes that clear from day one - she just wanted to do a bunch of paperwork. I've never been a fan of how Amy was pre-2010 with the over-obsession with Sonic, so I've always liked her character's direction since then. IN IDW Amy is a more relaxed level headed person, she's oddly enough the voice of reason in the group. I like when Amy acts cutesy as a front, but is actually more of a hot-head, she doesn't have a tendency to do that in IDW.
You have now finally reached the start of the Road to Issue #50, I have been waiting for this, ‘cause out of everything, these coming Arcs and beyond is what got me officially hooked on this Comic, well it was mostly due to the Mini-Series that came alongside the Road to Issue #50 and the Characters it introduced, Still, despite that, I do feel like the Comic really started to get interesting from Issue 50 and beyond, I guess we’ll just have to see if you agrees. By the way, your critics about Jewel I do feel like is pretty valid, since I do think her lacking as a Leader was the impression we were kind of supposed to get up until now, Since after all, with the mindset she had in this Arc, she probably would even have agreed with your criticisms, because she have noticed her shortcomings too, That being said, this little Mini-Story does seem to setup Jewel as being more confident in herself and the Role she volunteered for and perhaps at least try to be better at her job from here on out, I guess we’ll just have to see if her future actions will be enough to sway you. Also, about Jewel’s expression that you went out of your way to focus on and over analyze, did you actually not get what her expression meant or were you just joking at Jewel’s expense?
he's gonna get explode with rage and disappointment with sonic's character in issue 50 and criticizing it left and right i can already see it lol he's more critical than other fans when it comes to IDW he look into things abit too deep and in-depth bits by bits like details by details that's just how he is in general and review the idw issues he's definitely gonna have some heavy criticisms for issue 50 i can already feel it.
Yesss, I'm excited to see waht all the fuss is about with issue 50. It's more than just Jewel lacking as a Leader, you can write any charcater to fill those shoes. The thing is - Jewel wilingly chose to be leader, and then proceeded to not want to do anything a leader would be required to do. That is my major gripe. It's not like she was forced into this role. IDW created her specifically to be molded into a leader, and to also already BE the leader. It's entirely unearned and illogical. I would have much prefered another charcater have been created for this, and Jewel be what she actually wants to be - The Planner. As for Jewel's face..... I didn't realize I was over-anaylzing that? I was just makin' a guess based on the focus on Tangle, Jewel, and Whisper.
Jewels is nowhere fit for the leader role really starts crying on any pressure. Bell really needs to except the fact her dad is evil I got nothing to say about amy and tangle is the beat in is ark extra note why the bear got give his son a fire wisp when they both live and work in the woods
This arc isn't really that important, but I actually don't mind it. I enjoy it when stories know how to take a break from some of the bigger challenges and focus on character moments. It also helps that we get to focus on a lot of the new characters other than Sonic for once, where not everything can be handled by the OP guys with super speed. It has got a few bits that can be pointed out, but I'd say it is inoffensive at worst. Jewel's whole leadership arc kinda depends on how its meant to be seen I suppose. The intention is clearly that Jewel is meant to be a leader that doesn't really have confidence in herself and ends up being incompetent, which was touched on in during that moment with her and Amy, though I probably would've preferred another character like you said to have taken up the leader role instead, 'cause she feels strangely forced in it to me, like they didn't really know what to do with her character and was like 'oh yeah, she exists. I guess she can do that then.' I guess its good that they're acknowledging the faults of the restoration, though whether that changes will, as of this issue, remain to be seen. The restoration needs to stop hiring kids and teenagers to organise their efforts smh. I think the only thing I'd say I don't like is Amy kinda expecting Jewel to have a plan almost immediately like you said, as while she may not be the 'logistics' type, it kinda feels like she just dumps a lot of responsibility on Jewel for no reason. I remember back in Issue 32 when the group needed a plan for Eggman's sudden attack, and Amy, who is supposedly more about 'leading the charge', just basically tells them that Jewel has to make the choice, despite only becoming the leader an issue ago and having no experience with Eggman lol. This issue wasn't as bad as that admittedly though. Also Garfield makes a cameo, so it is at least a decent arc for that alone.
Tails just needs to become Eggman's opposite. Like Starline but without the whole evil schtick. If SEGA wants make Tails a hyper-genius I dunno why they won't commit to going down that route... It would even help the Restoration's terrible defenses, they'd just be an extension of Tails' Empire.

Tarot cards are mysticism. Their function relies on a person's belief. No basis in reality.
