The Sony A6400 is IMO the better solution for Wildlife - Action - Sport. And this is because of the superior Autofocus tracking of the Sony A6400. And also the lens selection is better for this application, the Sony 200-600mm I am using right simply rocks on the Sony A6400 bringing you to 900mm FOV at f/6.3. So together with a Sony A9 you get the best combo for Wildlife - Action - Sport - IMO. Fuji has nothing like this to offer. It is a decision on the ECO system you have to make.
Excellent comparison Michael. The best. I was surprised that I got 11 out of 13 for XT30 on the Portrait test. I'm expecting that I'll gravitate towards the a6400.
17:38 Honestly, at this point I think the x-trans setup is hurting Fuji more than helping. I with they would dump it can go back to Bayer (like on their original X100, the X-A series and their medium format models). I say this as someone that enjoys Fuji cameras (X-T30 owners and several others before). Also x-trans makes the raw file size larger than bayer files on the disk and of course Lightroom doesn't handle the x-trans files as well and they're slower to load/export. Just dump the x-trans and keep everything else and they'll have an even bigger winner on their hands. 25:44 Absolutely. I kept telling myself I wasn't buying another Fuji camera, but here I am again with another one ;-) (Z7 is my primary though). Also I was really, really surprised and happy with how good the sensor is in the X-T30. I had the a6400 for a week and couldn't get along with it...sent it back and got the X-T30. I am VERY happy with my decision.
Would be a good test, but I always use a single square to help DSLR shooters determine if they can use it the same way the do with their old cameras. Most sports shooters want to isolate which subject is being focused on
The overheating issues of Fujifilm cameras are such a problem for me. The short video cut-off is also a real concern . The appearance of the Fuji is gorgeous, but I can't buy a camera based on that! It's 2021 and I wonder if the Sony A6400 is still worth buying. I've been looking at the Fuji X-T4 but again the same problems, overheating, limited video time. Does anyone have any thoughts about this or recommendations or experience with these cameras? Great video btw, you put a mountain of effort put into this.

With both camera makers touting their eye autofocus, I'd love to see an eye af test similar to the face af test in the future.
Nice comparison. I will say that it would be helpful if you were consistent with which side you put a camera on. This would allow the viewer to focus more on the review instead of taking a second to reorientate from one segment to the other. There are some some other small critiques but I found this to be the most distracting element.

Hi, my camera (6400) makes noises (like trying to focus all the time) when on AT - Continuous in video mode. The lens is E 50 mm F1.8 OSS APS-C Standard. I am a beginner and just bought the camera. Can I fix it somehow? Is it a problem with setting? Or is the camera and lens I bought broken? Thanks so much for your tutorials - learning with your Udemy course, course, super helpful.
I prefer Sony because of the real tone, I have both Sony and Fuji. the soft and deep color of fuji is suitable for social media (instragram and others), if you need photos to edit choose sony
These days only Fujifilm , Fujifilm, and Fujifilm. I think this company has come in a glorious way to the world of photography. Nice, nice and nice. I am also thinking to own this camera some day because I liked everything in it. Now I have a question. Is this camera completely ( Fujifilm) for the professional. Please, waiting for the answer!!!!
I had 6 for Fuji and 7 for Sony. Since the Sony is currently cheaper on Amazon and that the Fuji seems too small for my big hands, I'm taking the Sony!
Hi Michael :) How can you compare FF lens with APS-C??? If you talk about professional use, so you must compare Fuji with Sony A7III, but you must notice that F/2.8 on APS-C is equivalent F/4 on FF and price of lens will be the same! Sony A6400 for beginners, they don't need professional lens for 2000$
In the portrait test the Sony just edged it by 1 point, but I probably would go for the Fuji if it wasn't for the 10 minute video limit. Although I wouldn't use it a lot, there are times when I may be asked to video something that is a performance of some kind and it would mean losing a second or so as I have to press record again. Also, if it is overheating, it probably wouldn't be very healthy for the camera to continuously record 10 mins after 10 mins, without giving it time to cool.
got 7 on Fujilm 6 on Sony , but i dont know why i want to buy the sony one, should i wait till december some know if price will drop?, Wich brand has more Lenses compatible and best prices?
Awesome review! I’m going to likely need a new crop body and telephoto lens for wildlife later this year. I need a super sharp pro-level lens, though. Can Fuji hang with Sony in terms of lens quality? I heard what you said about price, but I don’t want to let low cost draw my into a system which will disappoint me when it come to tack sharp images. I have wasted too much time and money with in that trap.
Very informative, thank you! I am considering the XT3 or A7iii. To my surprise, I chose the Fuji for 12/13 images in the comparison test. Given that I pretty much always shoot RAW, do you think I would still notice that same difference between the RAW files from the XT3 and the A7iii? I know they are different cameras to those tested, but I would assume the Fuji and Sony processing is relatively consistent across their camera lines.
Hi, nice video. I am planning to buy the X-t30 in nexts weeks but I hace a doubt, My question is: Do you think the the X-t30 body can frecuently support long lenses as you used in the video, maybe Fujinon 55-200 F3.5-4.8 or Fujinon 50-140 F2.8 for sports photography?. I mean, this is for amateur-semiprofessional work, not something so professional but I earn some money shooting sports sometimes. My main work is portraits, street photography but I ask an opinion from you because you used 50-140 mm lens in the test. A lot of people says that thie x-t30 body is so tiny for thoses lens ant It´s not confortable enough because the lens is very big and heavy. Let me know your thougts.
Michael, what a great test. Thank you so much. I took the color science preference test, and out of 13 I preferred the Fuji 11 times---and I was able to guess correctly 11 out of 13. IMO, Sony has a LONG way to go to match Canon, Fuji, and Nikon for skin tones.
With your lens price comparison you are comparing apples to oranges though. The Sony versions, although the same f2.8 apertures, were designed for full frame (more glass=more expensive).
Of course, Fuji still keeping the ISO values higher than other brands, so in these kind of tests it appears to perform better. Next time match the parameters, and compensate for ISO, you will see the Sony for example at 1600 and the fuji close to 2400 to match the same exposure. PS: I have the a6500 and the XT30, so I know what I am talking about.
If you're talking about the portrait comparisons, he discusses that in the video and he already takes that into account. He describes how Fuji underexposes, so he manually adjusted the exposure to get comparable exposures between the two cameras. This discussion happens at 21:32. If you're talking about the other tests, most of them are performed with both cameras set to the same ISO.
I think the Sony lens system can be a much cheaper eco-system than Fuji especially with wide to short telephoto primes, so many superb Sigma, Samyang and even Sony and Ziess options at budget prices compared with Fujis.
Hi . Bro pl suggest me which should i buy fuji xt30 vs sony a6400 My priority is completing with a 6400but my biggest priority is the image should be very beautiful. Just like if we click a pic from iPhoneit is very short per and very attractive as compared to the other normal phone. Similarly I just wanted to know that is a pic click by Fuji camera is lot better than the sony 6400 or is it the same, just a minor difference . If the differenceis big then I would consider Fuji and if the difference is just a bit almost negligible then I would go for soniye 6400. Hair on TH-cam Fuji has created a lot of hype of their colour presets . Pl suggest Ps. I dont wont to go in post processing work as i am a fresher and dont have lot of knowledge of post processing.
How are you not first on recommended photography videos? I really wish they had made the Fuji water resistant at least. It's hard for me to pick the Fuji over the Sony for that reason alone.

I love these shootouts so much! Could you do one with the ~$2k FF mirrorless cameras? (Z6, S1, A7iii, EOS R)
We could do one with the Z6 and Canon RP but I’ve heard there’s a bee Nikon in the works, so I guess I’ve been quietly waiting for that
Awesome video! In the color science test I got 10 out of 13 for X-T30. I guess I know what camera I'm going for next.
Same here, only at 7., 8. and 9. I voted for Sony.
Sony A6400 for beginners, they don't need professional lens for 2000$
What's better the Fuji xt30 or the canon m6ii
I think that the "sports shooting" tracking test will report better results in "focus priority" AF mode.
Also, if it is overheating, it probably wouldn't be very healthy for the camera to continuously record 10 mins after 10 mins, without giving it time to cool.
got 7 on Fujilm
6 on Sony , but i dont know why i want to buy the sony one, should i wait till december some know if price will drop?, Wich brand has more Lenses compatible and best prices?
Awesome review! I’m going to likely need a new crop body and telephoto lens for wildlife later this year. I need a super sharp pro-level lens, though. Can Fuji hang with Sony in terms of lens
quality? I heard what you said about price, but I don’t want to let low cost draw my into a system which will disappoint me when it come to tack sharp images. I have wasted too much time and money with in that trap.
How is the Fuji for landscapes? I've read that it's better for shooting people, but not for landscapes.
Nice review! Question , do you have a Nikon z tutorial guide?
Yes! th-cam.com/video/ElkbBPFzjY4/w-d-xo.html
For me...
12 Fujifilm X-T30
1 Sony A6400
OMG!
So the Fuji had an aps-c lens? Lol ignorant to Fuji.
And.....? Lol those are the facts. Lol
True, but that extra glass is wasted on a smaller sensor. Guess you could add a speed booster, but it adds size and cost
9 Sony, 4 Fuji for me. Fuji lenses for photo are great. They don’t have the best lenses for video though. At least not yet.
It’s true they have lots of variation of video performance between models. The 16-55 2.8 is pretty good, the kit not as much
@@MMaven really need the xh1 if you're using that lens for video
@Ziggi Mon what FF system are you using?
@Ziggi Mon nice. Unfortunately I can only afford one system and I'm struggling to choose which FF system to invest into
Best test ever!
8 FUJI, 5 SONY.
picture #3 wtf, fuji??
Amazing helpful video!
Could you please let the same camera on the same side on comparision shots with the name of the camera given so it's less confusing
Best comparison
Whose battery life is better?
I think the Sony lens system can be a much cheaper eco-system than Fuji especially with wide to short telephoto primes, so many superb Sigma, Samyang and even Sony and Ziess options at budget prices compared with Fujis.
Hi . Bro pl suggest me which should i buy fuji xt30 vs sony a6400
My priority is completing with a 6400but my biggest priority is the image should be very beautiful.
Pl suggest
Ps. I dont wont to go in post processing work as i am a fresher and dont have lot of knowledge of post processing.
How are you not first on recommended photography videos? I really wish they had made the Fuji water resistant at least. It's hard for me to pick the Fuji over the Sony for that reason alone.
Wow I only chose sony on the 8th photo. And I thought the fuji one had some kind of beauty filter on it. The resolution seemed off and the detailes seemed a little blurrier.
Would love to see a comaprison between X-T3 and M-5 III
