The character he calls is either Colonel Roy Campbell, Otacon or Mei Ling. In one of them, Snake will try to call Campbell, only to be answered by… Slippy Toad from Star Fox! If Snake dies during the discussion, the one he called will react to his death the exact same way than in Metal Gear Solid. The only Smash original is Slippy’s, for obvious reasons.
I realized what happened during the final fight of MGS4 clip: See, even though Snake (you) were able to counter Ocelot's punch with a counterattack, you still failed as Snake's health went to 0. Lorewise, I guess Ocelot just choked him out afterward. :( Great video, though...I don't think you missed anything.

Btw there is a Easter egg in mgs1 vr missions: The death theme is the same like in the first metal gear game also if you shoot inside the place, where you are supposed to fight ocelot and somehow manage to kill the president, the you get an game over screen, where ocelot calls you an idiot
