    I had one like this in my Soviet childhood... Good to see modern version of this design with premium materials.

      Alastair Bryant is England no longer part of Great Britain?

    • @vibeslide
      @vibeslide 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You sound a little bitter.
      Don't let those recent economic figures drag you down so much.
      Once the numerous trade agreements have been signed, glorious England will start production of more than Marmite again and the term "Made in England" will be much better known, I'm sure.

    • @Gogogordy1
      @Gogogordy1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      WTF?

    • @vibeslide
      @vibeslide 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Alastair Bryant For somebody who pretends to value education you articulate yourself somewhat vulgar.
      Regarding achievements of England in the past, of which there are plenty ofc: You and approximately 51,89% of UK's citizens will eventually realize that they mean virtually nothing in the future.
      And to my knowledge early forms of what is now called English have been brought to the british isles by germanic settlers, most notably the tribe of Angles, hence the name. By your logic (not mine), does that make you Germany's bitch then?

    • @safromnc8616
      @safromnc8616 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Alastair Bryant One would think you would have a little better command of the language, &, you don't sound much like a Brit (IMHO). Well, except for the first snide remark. Perhaps we should all go watch the top notch English knife shows...What are they there Ali.. ? FYI your last name isn't English, it's Irish Bro...

    Speaking of weird knives... About 25 years ago I remember a guy showing off a locking folder, inviting people to try to close the knife, and no one could figure it out. As it turned out, the handle scale on one side pivoted around the blade axis, just a little, and that disengaged the blade lock.
    Have you seen a knife/lock like that before?

    Just got into the game this year. As a surgeon you'd think I should have a knife on me!
    But man is this addicting! Your videos have been extremely helpful and love your commentary. My Dad has seem me with them and wanted one... just bought him para 3 LW. Now my own mother thinks knives are cool and doesn't want to be left out! Got her a mini griptilian... in pink bc she's bougie like that. Anyway your channel in the last few months has quickly become one of my favorites. Thank you for doing what you do for all of us!
    Oh and if you ever have the thought to do a video on your top 10 flipper knives... maybe ranging some different price points... that would be a beautiful thing.
    Cheers.

      Max Manstein I really like my civivi elementum, which resembles the ferrum forge gent a lot, and both of them are beautiful pieces. But for the value in combination with the amount of different options civivi is offering for it now, not to mention its action (WOW!), the elementum is such an awesome little knife. But that’s just my two cents, I’m sure Nick can suggest some really nice gems... I do find it quite interesting though how many of us, when we are first starting out, that there is something about flippers in particular, that we are especially drawn to...

      Jakob Thonen Nick is a gem. I find myself watching Zack and the gang at Blade HQ quite often as well. Regarding the "which side has the edge", get a checkering file (usually sold as a gunsmithing tool) and put some jimping on the spine side. Improves the grip and and serves as a visual cue.

    • @PooMonkeyMan
      @PooMonkeyMan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ruins the aesthetics though...

    • @johnbowen5336
      @johnbowen5336 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@PooMonkeyMan What aesthetics? This is a knife so ugly Jesse James copied it. There's not enough jimping in the Universe to make it any worse.

    • @PooMonkeyMan
      @PooMonkeyMan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      John Bowen I guess that’s where our tastes differ. I love the smooth, clean metallic look that this knife has. Sure, design could’ve been better, but I’m a sucker for clean metallic looks. One of the reasons I fell in love with the Drop Keen by Laconico. Some knives are are too busy with CF or inlays or whatever traction implementation the designer chose. This one is pure aesthetic heaven in terms of being smooth metal and no divots.

    A good few years back I had some little plastic frame knives that they give away as swag at conventions and booths that had the same exact mechanism. I fiddled with it constantly and ill definitely be picking one up. If they made it an inch shorter it would be one hand open though. It was able to one hand open those smaller plastic framed ones.
    I would get it as a novelty and if anyone sees this as something more than a novelty they must be high on something. Im just seeing a lot of flak for it. I may even try EDCing it since I like to have a knife on me but honestly dont use it often. It may be a bit of a steep price for basically a desk toy but im interested in it for a bit of nostalgia since I had a similar mechanism knife in maybe late middleschool.

For this to not just rattle around in a briefcase it would need to fit in a small pen or card slot & my cases don't have one it would fit.
