    Ghibli for the win, their movies are untouchable and truly set the standard for what animation could and should be.

      Admittedly Earwig and the witch was not up to standard, but it is certainly leagues better than the live action Disney films and Chicken little.

    One thing Disney and Miyazaki have in common, they both lost part of their childhoods having to support their parents through hard times - Disney because of his father's struggling business, Miyazaki because of the war and his mother's illness. It's definitely a driving force in both of their lives, even if it drove them in slightly different directions.

      This is such a good point to make! thank you for commenting it :):) The struggles that people go through really push them to develop, but the direction in which they develop is still up to them. wonderful point.

    Hayao Miyazaki hasn't handed Studio Ghibli to his son, he's still working there, he just gave his son another shot at directing and producing a movie. Disney is nothing like studio ghibli, Studio Ghibli will always win hands down when compared to Disney who is just interested in making money not that much on what happens in their films, racist, always in cgi, or what people think of them now or in the future. Studio Ghibli hand draw their films except for earwig which was his son trying it out. I don't think they will stick to cgi. Good video though. I love studio ghibli, it's the best and always will be.

    I wonder how it would have gone if Disney and Miyazaki had ever met. I'm sure Miyazaki would strongly disapprove of how Disney created the homey image of himself in the public mind to promote his work.
    But somehow I think Disney MIGHT have secretly liked Miyazaki.

    Ive heard the differeces between the 2 companies best sumarized as disney wants to tell you you can be a kid forever and ghibli wants to tell you childhood was magical and let you reminisce but that you also gotta grow up

      Ghibli also says that maybe your childhood can still tell you about something that can help you as a grown adult. They say that maybe your inner child's dreams can still be followed, and maybe following them can help you when you're feeling lost.

    I feel like Disney has an optics problem because when they started in the US it was ok for a 30 something year old to go after a 14 year old girl and people have gotten so use to that Disney aesthetic that it is hard for them to change it now without backlash.

      @@annien.1727Disney made some of the best movies but their quality is random. And they have always been political (Disney was collaborating with Nazis). Now Ghibli hasn't made a bad movie if we don't count Goro Miyazaki's movies and even Earwig and The Witch is not as bad as the worst Disney movie Chicken Little.

      @@karolinakuc4783 That's a completely asinine thing to say. Disney DIDN'T collaborate with Nazis at all! They were just interested in their filmmaking skills, NOT politics.
      Politics is something Disney steered clear from up until the 2020s. And Disney's quality is never random, either.
      Disney's movies are on par with Ghibli's movies in style and creativity. There's absolutely no competition at all.

    It's Disney easily. Not every Disney movie may be phenomenal, but each one has something in it you can enjoy. Ghibli however, is a coin flip. I loved some of their movies, and I despised some of them. Some of them don't even have a story, like Spirited Away, which is praised into high heaven despite its only selling point being that 'pretty images are pretty'. Most Ghibli fans I have encountered are narcissists, feeling like they're superior to isekai or idol anime fans for some reason, a trait they may have inherited from the asshole they all worship, Hayao Miyazaki. Yes, this man is the definition of a self-centered jerk, belittling other creators and even neglecting his own family. If you honestly believe any Ghibli movie holds a candle to the Lion King for example, I don't know what to tell you other than my doctor's phone number.

    • @willvoch2793
      @willvoch2793 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      that's because the lion king movie was produced in hollywood,they have the privilege to make their films seem extraordinary,I always say that disney movies are very good and nostalgic,but ghibli movies are more beautiful and feel touched,maybe disney movies touch the heart but ghibli movies touch the soul.

    • @iasked9392
      @iasked9392 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      What? Spirited away has a story (why are we even thinking like this?) I dont know how you could miss the entirety of the movie. Sure some of ghibli films need a lot of rewatch to understand the story but to outright ignore the story is quite...something.
      Movie-wise, nausicaa can easily beat the lion king. The lion king just have the advantage to be produced by hollywood.

    • @karolinakuc4783
      @karolinakuc4783 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@iasked9392True. I mean Scar is a bad guy but it is because he was made into one. He was given bad name. Coz Taka means dirt. Hard for a child to love himself with a name like that. And from second part we can learn that his self-hatred went on Nuka (his name is also an insult). A better story would be if they adressed that and showed them healing from trauma like that. It is especially crucial coz a lot of tribes in Africa still have those superstitions that a person born in this and that name will bring only misfortune.

      Everything you said proves how little you know about Ghibli. And the way you said it sounds disrespectful and immature. If this is how Disney supporters look like then no wonder they flopped so much recently. Ghibli put way more heart and effort into their films and anyone who really care about quality can tell. If you don't know how to appreciate them, that's your problem.
