  • The Rolex Daytona reference 6262 was produced at the end of 1969 into 1970 as Rolex introduced a new movement into the Cosmograph the Valjoux 727 which was more precise and had now a speed of 21.600 a/hour a watch which otherwise basically presented the characteristics of the 6239This reference is generally accepted as the least produced Daytona (6269/707 put apart) since its production supposedly stopped in 1970 A ref. 6262 with a Paul Newman dial is uber-rare and definitely worth some wrist time. In this episode of What Is On My Wrist Cam takes us through this special 6262 that possesses a Paul Newman dial and why its worthy of some wrist time!

Very cool is it a Newman or a regular dial?

4 digit Daytona’s are rare because low production due to very low sales. Many guys didn’t really buy them. That’s why they are very expensive now. This example is perfect and it’s rare within a rare reference (awesome). It really looks like a contemporary timepiece. The design looks relevant today. IMO much better than the modern Daytona. If I were fortunate to own this I would keep it, or put it on auction with a reserve and run with a six figure paycheck. Unfortunately you really cannot wear this as an everyday piece. 1) it’s old, it’s not reliable 2) if it malfunctions, who do you trust to service it 3) it could get stolen. Maybe not in the US but definitely do not wear this out in public in Europe. This is definitely a collector collectors piece. Thanks for sharing you video

No Rubbers Nobody bought them because they are manual wind shitters, already obsolete at the time. This was in 1972 and Zenith, Omega and Tag already had automatic chronographs since 1969.

@@Jungleman707 My dad had a Daytona in the 70's. It really was his shitter beater watch LOL. Mind you he was a steel worker, so that watch went through hell and beyond. When it broke was when he was operating a magnetic crane. His watch went haywire and gears popped inside the case. The watch maker told him it isn't worth fixing back in 1978. He sold it for parts and got my mom some jewelry for it. His main watch is a 5513 from 1970 and he has a Pepsi GMT from 1967 full kit which he rarely wears. Obvious it hurts knowing how much it's worth now, but at the time. The hot Rolex to own was the Date Just, the Day Date, or a Cartier Tank in 1978. The Daytona and to some extent the Speedmaster were considered the G-shocks of their time. Nothing luxurious about Rolex or Omega back in the day.

Polishing can be done at home with practice on watch you could careless about. I use Dremel and half q tip. Cream has sand in it to cut. I'm also sand blasting expert. As body man you can recreate curve without hurting case. Like those scratches I see. 320 grit hand sand lightly till you earse them. I nicked glass on my fake bluesy 40mm. Gold flakes on two tone so I had polish to chrome. Mine has battery. Reason cyclops don't enlarge is dial is tiny.

Is there a chance anyone out there could tell me model numbers for the 36 millimeter Submariner, which I understand thay made back in the 1970s? Thanks!

Tudor did a 36mm Submariner in the 90's - 75090 (90's), I'm not sure if they did a Rolex version of the sub in 36mm. Hope that helps :)

I've never held Rolex in my hand. All I have go by is pictures. The other day looked on bracelet clasp there was hump. Then I see cyclops on sky dweller. Obstructing view.
