    Thanks Andre, I kinda like the dimpled effect the ice has on the paintwork, living in the tropics, I will never see that !!!

      It is very pretty, but not when you are recording take after take because your mouth is frozen and not cooperating, and your fingers start to freeze 😎

    I like the Ioniq5 upwards opening port better, since it covers the port to some degree. It did freeze open once and I had to blowdry it to close. I have been using a mirror cover since then and haven't had an issue.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, having it open upwards is a bit better, but with the snow and ice that you saw in this video, it would have not worked. The mirror cover is a good idea. FYI MaCapuche makes a port cover for the Ioniq 5 😎.

    Thats really cool actually. What do you do with the cover? Do you take it with you or leave in the house? Could it be for example put onto the wallbox so it wont be icy?
    I hope they can ship it to Europe as well.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, Guillaume will ship to Europe; I asked before making the video. As for what I do with it, like I show in the video at 6:24 I tap the ice off, fold it and throw it into my back seat. I usually put it in the trunk though. You could hang it on the EVSE, but I don't need to since the wind blows away from this side of the house so neither of my charging stations get snow, ice, or water!

    Merci André, excellent et très bien expliqué, j'avais installé la mienne à 2 reprises mais tu as simplifié le processus. Quel produit utilises-tu pour protéger ton pare-brise?

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ça me fait plaisir, et merci. Comme mentionné dans la vidéo, j'ai un protecteur de pare-brise et je vais faire une vidéo. Tu peux le voir sur mon site Web dans la section Products I Use. Il fait de justesse car je l'avais acheté pour ma Niro EV, qui est plus petite, mais ça fonctionne bien.

    Looks like a pain in the butt to me. I would probably just build a small overhang over that area where I parked the car so that snow and ice could not get to it.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spending 45 seconds putting the port cover on is a lot less expensive than building an extension to the house.

    Is there a Tesla capuche?

    • @EV-olution

      Yes. He actually invented the first one for his Tesla Model 3 and now has versions for almost all EVs.

    It looks like the idea maybe came from a BBQ cover. Nice job guys.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He started by simply wanting something for his Tesla Models 3, but when he showed it he started getting requests to buy them so he started his company. Before he started people were using all sorts of creative methods, trash bags, oven mitts (yes, you read that correctly), tarps, etc. Some people still use alternative things, but I really like the quality of the MaCapuche product.

      @EV-olution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      J'ai déjà eu des abris, c'est très utile, mais le montage, démontage et entreposage me fatiguais. J'y pense encore, ou de faire construire un car port. Cependant, si je fais un car port je veux que le toit soit entièrement en pannaux solaires = $$$

    Je pensais que la capuche tiendrait avec des aimants collants sur la carrosserie?

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ça aurait pu, mais sur une surface verticale ce n’est pas une bonne idée car la pesanteur de la neige ferait glisser les aimants et ça pourrait graffigner la peinture.

    how about when you drive 400km in snowy weather, whole back is covered snow and ice...

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have done that and just like with a gas car, where the gas port cover gets covered, you just use your snow brush to clean it off. Also, in 99.9% of the times it has happened to me, I just press the open port button in the car and it opens, but I still prefer to clean it off with the snow brush first.

    André, penses tu que le model pour le TESLA Model S, (th-cam.com/video/8tCNNN6U3HE/w-d-xo.html), pourrait faire? je trouve que 180$ pour celle de la EV6 est un peu trop.. ??

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      La version pour la EV6 est très gros pour couvrir tous ce que je montre, et la forme est très spécifique, donc non, je ne crois pas qu'une autre version puisse faire. Effectivement, à 180$ c'est cher.

    The day will come when the car manufacturers make the charge port deeper so that the door can be closed over the charge cable and a colour matched rubber grommet seals the charging port. With bi- directional EV'S this will become more of a issue.
    I live in London (UK) and and a heavy show storm and over night freezing temperatures froze up the micro switch on my charge port door so the car kept nagging me with a error message that filled the whole screen, it's a Kia e-niro thing !!

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a 2019 Niro EV before and had a port cover for it from this same company. I made the video about it in 2020. If you get snow often enough then it is worth getting one.

    Hi Andre i wondered if you had any problems with the body silhouette lights being stuck on in the cold like here th-cam.com/video/v4gCFj-BL1c/w-d-xo.html

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I have not noticed that as an issue and I see my car in the dark quite a bit since I go to the gym and leave before 5am. For the menu, they are called the welcome lights and are linked to the "On approach" and "On unlock" options you looked at. I would try disabling that option and power cycle the car.

      @@EV-olution Cheers Andre . Done that,no dice. From the comments i’ve managed to find someone in Norway who now says it’s moisture in the drivers door controller which is linked to the door handle pad failure as well.

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well that sucks! I am very surprised because I have seen how the doors are made, when I had my car protected with rust protection. It must be a badly built control module and you just unlucky. I hope it gets resolved quickly.

    Only a quebecois would design something so annoying just to charge your car. Why not make it magnetic or just velcro around the charging cord?

    • @EV-olution
      @EV-olution  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you have a better design then please feel free to contact the creator of this port cover and let him know. I can assure you that several versions were tested and this is the one that held the best and offered the best protection. You can't simply put magnets because they would not be strong enough and I would not want a magnetic version since it would scratch the paint from the dirt and debris between the paint and the cover material. But like I said, feel free to offer the inventor of this cover your better idea, or create it yourself and put it for sale. I am sure many people would be interested in a more simple design that holds just as well. And FYI, being Québécois has nothing to do with annoying designs, but it does allow for the design of something that is guaranteed to protect well and last a long time because the inventor understands what a Québec winter really is. You can reach Guillaume at macapuche.com/ to offer your design.
