It's so nice to see people trying out budget travel in Mauritius instead of the luxury hotels, and taking the buses and seeing something other than the beaches :) hope you had fun!
When I was in Cape Town, South Africa, I never made it to Mauritius. I don't know if you've considered SA, but it's also very budget friendly and still my favorite country in all my travels. Just for budgeting purposes so you know, I rented a two bedroom flat with a doorman for $300 us! Best three weeks of my life! Enjoy Mauritius 😍
STUPID-O'CLOCK- Love the definition - Good idea about hire a car for a day- Always got to be street food careful as not to get sick again. Be careful and keep us with you on your travels.
When we stayed in Penang we literally got a taxi to love lane from the bus depo and went to the first hotel/hostel that was open (at 5.30am!) We were so lucky the room (double) was 40 riggit a night and he knocked it down to 38 when we stayed for a week. So if you stayed for a month I'm sure he'd bring it down again. Or you can use it as your stopping point before finding an apartment, which would work :)
Malaysia has Penang, Langkawi ( Island), Malacca (historical city), Cameron Highland ( cold, mountain area and tea plantation) Terengganu had some beautiful islands too. KL's house rent is the highest and also theres a lot of mountains and hills to hike, definitely should look them out. Also, theres a lot of jungle to explore if you guys are the adventurous type.
Common places where tourist go in KL are Pasar Seni and Masjid Jamek( both are markets ) accessible via LRT Train. Genting Highland and French Village in Pahang. Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan has a lot of beaches. Foods- Do try Nasi Lemak (coconut rice) ABC( flavored shaved ice) and Cendol! And if youre in Penang , try Pasembur and Nasi Kandar there.Try Iced Tea because they are Amazing ! All in Indian Restaurant , Super Cheap.
Aloha! Love your videos and you guys! So much fun. If you ever get a chance to come to Maui, HI... I will be happy to tour guide or whatever I can to assist with your stay. Thanks for always producing such amazing videos! Mahalo (Thank you) and Aloha!
I stayed two months in Batu Ferringhi near Penang one place was $10 a day room at Eden Parade. Another place was one of the hotels next door for probably $11 a day. They both had decent internet. Bus pass made for easy travel. Local supermarket is Tesco Lotus which sells not just food but everything else as well. Should be apartments there as well. Time was June/July. Mauritius looks nice but you are showing it can be expensive with your prices.
hi. i live in mauritius and yes the prices mentioned in this vid here are quite expensive. you can get rent for an apartment at lower price and car at lower price. There are more and more low budget tourists who come here and enjoy themselves even on a low budget. I just come from a trip from thailand where there it is really low budget and soooo gorgeous. Next time i come to Malaysia i will go elsewhere than KL...lol
Instead of travelling straight to Penang, you could stop off for a week or so 'on-route' at somewhere like Pangkor. I'm not sure if you'd want to stay there more than 7-10 days as it's a small place but there are a few other places on the way that would be worth a look as well...
Ally!!! I was so waiting for you to jump in the water at Grande Baie and film while snorkeling! How can you just stare at that beauty without jumping in? XD Can´t wait for tomorrow´s vlog! :)
I need to catch up with videos but briefly can you tell me how you ended up here? I've never heard of this place. It is sooo beautiful! I will try to catch up with videos if I can :) Hugs Melody
I am from Mauritius and I think you should visit eureka house in moka followed by casela and even go to port Louis the capital moreover if you have some time go and eat some dholl Puri at dewa house hope u enjoy ur stay in Mauritius
can't believe how Brave you are to endure life in that hideous place, thank you for making the sacrifice for us!! I think I need to make a few sacrifices like that
If you r going to penang and want splurge on a budget with a amazing breakfast( dim sum, roti canai ,tea time with cute snacks and pool, amazing staff) its an amazing hotel and nots so touristy and nr a great bus station that can take u anywhere)included pls stay at the noordwin mews boutique hotel!!! Is so cool there and oh Instagram photo annd they serve the famous white coffee for free.LOVE PENANG OH !! YOU MUST CHECK OUT LOVE(back packers) LANE AND CAMERA MUSEUM AND little India annnnd allll the street art is amazing...could def live here... again great bus system and safe and walkable. Enjoy Kelly nyc
Id love to give you some places to go if you go to Penang, as I grew up their as a kid. We went back there about 1 year ago and everything is still so beautiful!
Question-Should I travel without a college education and without my family's approval? I've had a plan of making videos and working small jobs in the countries I visit. Just worried if I would bite off too much and won't be able to handle it. Would you recommend a friend go with me?
Generally, you can get a nice place in Malaysia within that budget especially outside Kuala Lumpur. Too bad I live in Kuala Lumpur and don't know any good place in Penang to recommend, but should you need any help on anything else - i'd be more than happy to assist.
Hello. I would suggest to have a visit at Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan, an island in Malaysia. it's near Sabah and Sarawak, which is when you come to Sabah you can go island hoping. Thanks.
Yes Mauritius looks very nice, but you're going a bit OTT on it. There's plenty of places around Asia that look that good and are a lot cheaper to visit...
Asia that good? no way! clearly u haven't been to Mauritius or if u've been there... you didn't look around much, being stingy I presume. Of course u can go to Bali for a couple of bucks... way cheap...excellent for you but Mauritius is on another level in terms of Landscape... its sea... beaches...people... blend of cultures... food... U don't get that in Asia!
What???? Landscape - check, sea - check, beaches - check, people - check, blend of cultures - so much more than maritius! - check, food - check.... You clearly haven't been to Asia.... I guess you're being stingy... :D
LoL ...Am Asian! Only Bora Bora and Seychelles can challenge Mauritius :) And Cultures? mauritius has got creoles, African, Indians, Muslims, Telegus, Chinese, Christian, Tamil, Catholics, and many more other religions and cultures mixed in ONE place. NOTHING BEATS that :) You have never even been to Mauritius :) sums your argument up :) See ya cheapo :'D
Landscape blah blah blah check??? Mate Mauritius ia unique in terms of culture! The diversity in culture there is mind blogging. Fact! Its one island in indian ocen to have ao many cultures. Asia is cheap and has good blend as well. But mauritius is way up and on another level.

I live like this every weekend
Wake up at 8 am
A cup of tea
Two roti
And spend whole day at the beach
Check out Pereybere, its right next to Grand Baie, but not so polluted as they are no boats there. It's a really nice and peaceful beach :)
This is our favourite beach so far :)
STUPID-O'CLOCK- Love the definition - Good idea about hire a car for a day- Always got to be street food careful as not to get sick again. Be careful and keep us with you on your travels.
