This is the fifth episode in our RAGBRAI 2021 series and covers Day 3 of the event which was Tuesday, July 27, 2021. The day started in Fort Dodge and ended 56 miles later in Iowa Falls. For us, it was Tutu Tuesday.

Thanks for the comment and for watching Buses Bikes and Beers. Yes, RAGBRAI was really fun and perhaps even more special than usual given the 2020 ride was cancelled. It's great to hear you were able to attend this year. It's not surprising to hear you want to do it again, that's the way we felt after our first time and that was 7 RAGBRAIs ago. Are you planning to ride again next year?
I recently had the change to ride a two wheeled recumbent for the firs time and really enjoyed the experience. The bike was too small for me but it definitely gave me an idea of what it's like.

Great video! Loved the bit with Roger Snell (@ the American Legion)! Bob’s tutu is almost a 4-4, it’s so full. I will have to get one for next year! Now I know how Brently paid for college, pole dancing!! LOL

Yes, Roger was a real gem and super fun to talk with, we talked to him for a long time. However, I believe your debut on Buses Bikes and Beers was also a highlight of this video. :)
Bob's tutu was definitely the best and was so well color coordinated with is jersey. Impressive showing by Bob. You should try to show him up next year. :)
My pole dancing is a little rusty, I didn't get any tips. I guess I'd better practice.

I came across your channel while looking for reviews on the Priority Apollo. I saw your RAGBRAI videos and started watching. I live in Fort Dodge, IA and I rode from FD to Waterloo. While watching this episode, what do I see but my friend Roger Snell! He always has a joke to tell, even if you have heard it before or it's a little silly (sometimes you can't repeat it.). Thanks!
Hi Craig. Great to hear from a friend of Roger Snell. We had such a great time chatting with him and feel honored for the opportunity to meet him. We had no way of contacting him so it would be fantastic if you could show him the video or at least the part where he is the star. :)
We are really enjoying our Apollo bikes and are setting them up for a trip across the US next summer. If you decide to buy one, I'm guessing you'll be very happy with it.

5:09 was that speed skater part of the tour or they just took the low car road to get some practice in?

We believe she does the entire 7-day RAGBRAI on those skates. We also saw her on RAGBRAI 2019. The other times we saw her during the week, she was with at least one other skater. We've never had an occasion to talk with her to learn her story but we affectionally call her Roller Girl.

Um hello, You said you had a connection to Taiwan, know a little bit of Chinese and spoke to a veteran in China who'd been to Taiwan. What's your connection to Taiwan? I'm from Iowa born and raised there, spent 21 years there and I've lived in Taiwan for the past 9 years. I also noticed in your second video you took some video of a couple of people who were wearing a jersey that had the Taiwan flag on it. So the connection of Taiwan with Ragbrai fascinates me. I happened across your video looking for new Ragbrai videos. Your video is from last year, but it's new to me. I thought it was pretty good so I've been checking out your other videos.
Did you go to Ragbrai this year as well?
I lived in Taipei for 10 years on an assignment for my company. We moved back to the US in late 2020. If you go back to some of our older videos you'll see a lot of us riding in Taiwan. We did a series of videos of our bike trip around the Island in the summer of 2020.
We are currently riding RAGBRAI 2022 as part of a cross USA bike trip.

Great video and such an inspiration for a fellow bike and beer enthusiast! I have been watching your videos since Taipei. My wife is Taiwanese and we make it back there every summer. I have been getting some really great cycling routes from your videos! You will probably see me comment and ask questions on many of those videos ;) Anyway, keep up great content.
Thanks for watching and for the comment! We are definitely bike and beer enthusiasts and it's always great to hear from someone else from that "tribe". We're a bit envious you get to visit Taiwan every summer, we are longing to get back to see our friends and do some epic riding. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about the routes we did in Taiwan. We did a ton of cycling that's not on BBB. We only started the channel about a year or so before we left and I figure I rode my bike about 15,000 miles in Taiwan over the 6 years we lived there.

I think you should wear a helmet and a face mask when brushing and walking.
Hey Julie...that's a good suggestion. I wonder if they make a football helmet she could wear that would allow tooth brush access to her mouth? Or...she could just be still while she brushes.
