Junk Journal Dollar Tree Haul

- Jessica at paperterrace is hosting a Dollar Tree junk Journal Challenge and I have decided to join this challenge. This video is showing you the items that I chose to use for my journal. One thing I forgot to mention in my video is that my Dollar Tree does not have any plain paper, so I am going to have to use some paper that I already have for the pages. I asked one of the employees about copy paper and she said they do not carry that. Also, I could not find any notepads that had plain paper.

Lots of stuff to play with! Some of those little wooden die cuts from Dollar Tree aren't actually wood. If you soak it in water for a few minutes, they separate into four layers. Quite fun! I've also used food color to dye papers--but not with acrylic. I've found that most of the time, I like to add just a touch of red to whatever color I'm working with. It kind of tones down the brightness. My five year old grandson and I have gotten some really pretty colors! I've painted it on, and put it in spray bottles and sprayed it on.
I just saw a video today on Instagram showing someone soaking those "wood" pieces and separating them. I had never heard of that before. I am definitely going to try that. I colored some paper and envelopes with the food coloring today. I like the way that they turned out.

Happy Friday! I see you did find some great items for your #paperterracedtjj . I've never used food coloring to dye with, I look forward to seeing how that turns out for you. I have some corrugated box pieces too, its one of my favorite papers to use in my junk journals. I also look forward to how you use them in your journals. Have a wonderful craft filled weekend.

Great collection. I love the idea of picking up the books with the colored pages. Never thought of that. Love the bunny bags. Neither of mine had those unpacked yet. Looking forward to the finished journal. Creative Blessings!

My $1 Tree was also pretty bare. The gift bag i got is pretty thick and shiny. I hope I can get it to work. I can't wait to see everyone's creations.

Good choices. I bought the same doilies! The nearest dollar store is Family Dollar and it’s tiny. We eventually needed to run errands in the closest little city. The Family Dollar there had more stuff, so I bought a few more things. I’m working at using the best things to equal about $20. I also got a cardboard box free. That will be the cover. Challenges are fun but frustrating. I have TONS of stuff I can’t use. I might do a single “cheat.” We’ll see. 💜💜💜
The town that I live in doesn't have a Dollar Tree either, but there's one about 11 miles away. It's pretty small, so they don't carry very much. I hope you make a video showing what you're doing with your journal!🤗
