Hey Felipe! Just got my first Cajon and super excited. Appreciate all the content on your channel. It has helped me through the process. These grooves are nice! Thanks for sharing. In the 3rd groove, you were playing the last accent on 4&, as a right hand bass stroke, as opposed to 4e snare accent. Sounded good! Also tried with the 4e snare pop and it too is a cool jam. Keep sharing the fresh jams and insight please! Jason
Hi Jason, thanks for you message, I’m glad my videos are helping you. There is a mistake in the video notation of 3rd groove. However, the PDF download it’s corrected 😉
Very nice grooves! Thanks a lot! It seems, you play Groove 3 different from the notation. You play the last slap with the right hand on the "and" of four not with the left hand on the "a" of four.
Hi Felipe... I have just discovered you and started my journey as an amateur cajonero! Thanks for these samples. I have also registered my interest and hopefully get up to speed and join your online cajon school! Thank you so much for inspiring me to get serious fun from a new hobby pal! All the best to you ! 😎👌
Would you say/agree that when it comes to cajon, the safest way to approach it is "less is more" when playing with an acoustic guitar? That way, it would be distracting to the song
I think it all depends on the style, the genre, the atmosphere, the song, what you want to tell through the instrument. In music there is no better or worse. The approach you take depends on how you understand and feel the song you are going to play.
For me, when the rhythm patterns becomes anything but straight/trivial, I can no longer think in terms on 1-e-&-a... etc.. Well, initially I have to use the pattern notation to learn it, but I must ASAP turn it into a "mental groove" - something you just "feel". This will not happen when playing at the very slow learning tempo - it comes as BPM increases.. Good luck with the playing!
Groove 2 all the way! Thanks for sharing!
That second groove is toooo much, wepaa!!!
glad you enjoy it ;) cheers

Is it just me or in the third groove, is the last snare hit on 4& with the right hand instead of 4a with the left?
Yes you are right, it was mistake in the graphic. It’s corrected in the lesson pdf 😉

Which groove is the most difficult for you?

my cajon doesn't do that
