I was a drummer back then but stopped. Then my workmates insisted I get back on percussion. So I decided to look into cajon. Now I am waiting for my Shlagwerk CP432 2in1 cajon. Thank you for the inspiration! Instant subscriber here!
I really appreciate the rhythms you teach. Thank you. This is a useful list of basic grooves. Very helpful for someone at my level. Pity I can never got the free pdf from your sign up system. I've tried it many times, but it never works for me. But you usually put the groove on the screen in box charts, which is helpful, so the fact that I cannot access the free area usually doesn't matter much. But this time you didn't.do that. That's a pity, because it would be good to see these rhythms in written form.
Hi Gary, Thanks for your message. Glad to know you like my work and the videos are helping you. Actually you are in my list since January 2021 and you have already subscribed to the Free Area. You don’t need to subscribe again, this is why you don’t receive the link to access the Free Area, because you’ve already got it. But no worries, I've sent an email to you with the link. I suggest to you to save the link and also the page, this way you don’t risk to loose it again ;) Enjoy the lessons.
Hey Felipe, thank you so much for your fantastic lessons and tips. I am learning so much. Re the shuffle groove in this video, it is modern shuffle rather than an authentic blues shuffle. It’s sort of like the Purdy shuffle. It would be great if you would show us how to sound like a real old school blues drummer (if that is possible on a cajon). Many thanks.
You my friend are brilliant. You’re the best player I’ve heard in years and play with amazing drummers and cajon players. You inspire like nobody else. Thank you so much for your generosity. F
Yes i will do that soon. Also, if you want fills for all this grooves, check out my fills course, there you have everything - cajonmaster.com/fills-course-1/
Hey Felipe! I really like the Country Train, but at faster speeds it becomes difficult to move my right hand fast enough to do the bass and keep it steady. Is it a good groove to use a cajon pedal to keep the bass?
Wonderful as usual Felipe! I really appreciate how you give examples for each groove. Can I make one little request? Could you do a tutorial which covers some Middle Eastern rhythms? Thanks again for all your work.
Jackie, it’s me, Robert from the islands. Do you want a minor key tune that builds and then goes down and up again with that Arabic feel? What about “Midnight At The Oasis” by Maria Muldaur or “Caravan” with alto sax Phil Woods and Louie Bellson playing double bass? // How about an example, Jackie? I do Hasidic 💙❤️🥁
Hello I'm French I love your video I started the cajon a few months ago thank you for sharing I'm watching and I'm learning a lot I have a schlagwerk x one right now it's cheap do you think it's is good for beginners? I like the sound but I don't know the others! See you soon :) continue the videos are very cool!
Dear friend, I'm from Puerto Rico. I'm starting to learn the cajón and your videos have helped me a lot. There's the band groove from DRUMLINE(the movie). Also I would love for you to make a review video of a 5D2 (cinco dedos) cajón. And how to tune your cajón. Thanks a lot!!
Hi Feilipe, I like them all, thank you for sharing brother. I went to brazil in 2007 and had a ball! The music, the food, the people, so different, so unique and relaxed, i loved it. When I got my cajon about 1 year ago i went straight to your channel. The best channel { very professional} My friends play Irish Music and I try and copy the Bodhran reels. The cajon is a good substitute. It would be great if you could teach some ! Also ive tried to get the Free PDF and your page is coming up but i cant get the join button to work? Ive rebooted my computer but had no success so far. Probably a issue on my side. Obrigado Bro :]
Hi John, I've checked and it is working fine. Try again and if it doesn't work, send an email to felipe@cajonmaster.com. I will be happy to help you with that ;)
My favorites are the Bo Diddley and the Famous. Every time I step into Guitar Center for percussion stuff I have to play a cajon and do the Famous. :-)

Thanks again.
I’ll try those when I get back from work today. But your words, I don’t understand. Sixth eight, on the third on the accent triplets It’s Chinese to me. Most rhythms seems manageable. Thank you for this

Love the Bo Diddley groove. The technique in the left hand is ALMOST like a ghost note but just a softer dynamic of the bass tone. Love it
Exactly! This Bass almost ghost is the right feel for the groove 😉🙏
