Uno de los mejores videos que visto de la versatilidad del cajón. Gracias Felipe.
Now I have my nice structured grooves collection! Thank you. You are doing good job.
I just got my first cajon. This video is so helpful. Thank you, I love you ❤️😘💕
Master Felipe.
Obrigado
Felipe, I've just recently found and you are a big inspiration for me to get into rhythms and developing a good sense for various grooves! Thank you for allowing me to take that journey!! Hope to see you see soon:)
How come that you didn't display the sequencer-type of analysis of the grooves this time? They are usually FANTASTIC!
Thanks for your words Mr.! Glad you liked it and that's helpful for you 🙏😉
Great video, which shows, that a cajon is able to do the same as a small drum kit.
I first started on the cajon and last year on the drum kit. But I find it much easier to play the cajon and adding some parts of a drum kit like a crash cymbal or the hi-hat. I really like the hi-hat sound and that small tap isn't always the same as a hi-hat. That why i'm experimenting with brushes or a real hi-hat adding to the cajon.
Keep on the good job, Felipe. I'm always looking forward on a new video from you! :-)
Hi Math, thanks for your message! Good idea to add a hi-hat, I do the same and it works just fine :) let me know how it goes, cheers!
Excelente Felipe. 🙏Vou aprender TODOS esses tanto na bateria como no cajon. Tô aprendendo os 2 ao mesmo tempo. 😁 (menos o Raggaetown q não ea minha praia 😀)
Мастер!
Thanx, Felipe!!! Just wonderful! I think, it would be also a nice idea for the BLUES SHUFFLE to use a Cajon brush in the right hand to replace the High Hat 🥁.
Thanks Andreas! It's a good idea for sure. Try it and let me know how it goes ;)
Thank you for sharing these grooves Cajon Master ! They are awesome !
Would it be possible to have their cajon sheet in PDF somewhere ? Maybe on your website or newsletter ?
Thanks for your comment, glad you liked it. I'm filming the new courses right now and some of these grooves will be available in the Ebook for sure. I will let you know when it will be out 😉🙏
Awesome. Do you have pdfs of the Cajon patterns for each of these?
Absolutely.first the drum set is so expensive than buying a cajon.
And like a guitar I can carry my cajon anywhere.its more convenient to me.
Thank you Felipe for the terrific groove ideas! I was getting into a rut. Have you tried the Meinl mini cajon? I ordered it for car trips when my husband drives. It otta be great for grooving to the radio:)
Yes I have! Check out this video where I play the mini cajon ;) th-cam.com/video/JWswsnwWVUA/w-d-xo.html
Hi Felipe, I'm intrigued by your love for the cajon cuz i've always found drums a lot cooler/better sounding than the cajon. If u don't mind could u share why you love the cajon so much? (either in a reply or make a YT video out of it perhaps~?)
Love your videos. Easier to follow when the camera is overhead. Thank you
i enjoy drum
😍😍😍😍😍
Im learning the Cajon, this helped alot. On a side note, in english I would pronounce it Ca-Hone?
Hi Felipe,
I've been looking for something like this to shake up my playing! Amazing technique on drums and cajon. Can you tell me which cajon you are playing? Sounds terrific.
Phil
Hi Phil, glad you like the video 🙏 The cajon is the Meinl Artisan Cantina line, my favorite!
Superbe ! Parfait ! Génial!
Et il y aura les pdf ?
Yes, soon it will be available in the new course ;) I will let you know Laurent ;)
Very nice ! I would love to see the music sheets
Thanks, happy you liked it. It will be available very soon in the Ebook of my upcoming course. I will let you know 😉
Ive always thought of a cajon as a limited instrument that anyone can just wail at it and sound good. But as ive watched guys like Pete Lockett, turns out cajon is much more complex and has subtleties.
Glad you change your mind about the cajon 😉 It's a great instrument! 😀 Cheers
I have got to master playing bass drum with both hands...
Do you like to play drum grooves on cajon? Let me know here in the comments ⬇️
Yes, actually it's useful to adopt classic grooves and fills on the cajon. It's more convenient to play on the cajon at places where drums are too much. Small gigs, rehearsal in the small room etc. And you can practice anytime&anywhere without drawing any attention: hands and knees are good to practice timing.
@vasiliy2207 Thanks for your comment! Agree with you, sometimes only the cajon can replace drums ;)
In the "Bossa Nova" groove, it looks like you are having the same problem that I'm having: How to emulate a "cross stick" sound on the cajon. I play in an acoustic trio that plays a wide variety of music, some of which has cross sticking grooves. As of yet, I have been unable to find a technique that I feel properly conveys that sound. I've tried high corner slaps, knuckle on the corner, knuckle on the side of the cajon and I'm currently experimenting with the Meinl medium castanet (though I'm not sold on that sound either). Do you have any suggestions to achieve that sound, even if it's an accessory? In regard to your question about playing grooves on the cajon, that's basically all I do. I pretty much treat my cajon like a drum set while playing music that is currently or has been popular over the years. In between sets people come up and talk to us and they're always amazed at how much sound I can get out of a box. We've even be accused of "playing with tracks because there is no way that sound is coming out of that box." Kind of funny to be honest.
Use a castanet ..stick thin rubber on cajon..then apply a castanet.onto the rubber with strong double sided tape......also meinl do some click....strips that can be fitted....castanet sounds better tho
@tubular167 Castanet can be a good option if you're looking for the rimshot vibe. Good idea!
@JerryWalker There are many ways to emulate the cross stick with brushes or accessories. But if you noticed in the Bossa groove I play the slap with my fingers like a high slap tone and played a bit soft, but in the studio with all the mics it didn't sound so soft :) I was thinking to try a wood castanet or even a wood block, this will be the closest sound you can get from a cross stick. Let me know what do you think.
Hey Felipe, do you have a pdf for this? Thank you!!
Hi Maricon, thanks again. This will be included in the new course I'm filming right now and it will be available soon. No worries, I'll let you know when it will be out 😉🙏
I like the Cajon, because i have one, but the sound of the drums are better
Thanks for your comment! I love both, is difficult to decide :) It depends what is the situation you're in :) cheers
Hi
we can't use cajon and drums at the same time ,right?
Hi Hossein, yes for sure. Watch this video of Cajon and cymbals and let me know what do you think - th-cam.com/video/sHn-4Jomv6o/w-d-xo.html
