- Today we are visiting the Setagaya Boroichi Market in the Setagaya area of Tokyo.
Held just four days a year on the 15th and 16th of December and January, this is large market with around 700 stalls!
Official operating times: 9:00AM-8:00PM
Some vendors may start packing up a bit earlier, especially if they're in a dimly lit area and the sun's gone down.
Thank you so much for watching and hope you enjoy the content🥰

About me:
Hi! I’m Michelle, a half Japanese, half British Tokyoite🇯🇵🇬🇧who thrifts for both resale and for keeps .
The focus is mainly on homeware, ceramics, ornaments and traditional folk craft.
We will be visiting thrift/vintage/antique shops and markets within Tokyo, and beyond.
"Tokyotique" was the name of my Mercari Japan account ("Tokyo" + "Boutique") when I first started the shop.
Aside from reselling, I am also a tour guide, therefore an avid researcher on all things Japanese.
Hope you enjoy coming along with me to shops and markets in Tokyo, and beyond!

I stumbled across your channel today and am binge watching all your antiquing videos! These are my favorite types of videos. It is so fun to see what Japan's flea markets have to offer. I couldn't resist one of your wonderful kokeshi sets from your website and had to order it for myself! They'll have a new home in San Diego, CA, USA✨

This is my favourite market, and loved your interest in tools. I follow several wood carvers and acquiring those tools (and learning on how to use them) is in my bucket list
Oh how wonderful! You'll definitely have far more knowledge than me about those tools😊Hope you can pick up some interesting ones from this or another market!

Hello from Brisbane and Happy New Year. Ive been waiting patiently for another video from you.
Happy New Year Heather! Had to take a break for a while for personal reasons, but I’m back now😊Hope you’re having a great start to the year!🥰
@@tokyotique Thank you Michelle. I prefer hand painted ceramics but have some lovely Edo Period transfer plates. I was in Japan in September and should have arranged to hire you as my guide as I had trouble finding one of the Bookoff Superstores. I went to Oi twice but due to my house being full of wonderful Japanese items I showed great restraint and only made 4 purchases.
@ Wonderful that you fit in 2 Oi visits on your last trip here! Was it quite busy? I know you’re used to navigating that market though😊I think the Tsunashima branch of Super Bazaar might be the easiest one get to. Will you be visiting in 2025?
So glad you got another video uploaded, checked out the site and you have really nice things for sale. What does the large tokkuri sake bottle say on 21:00.I have two and they have similar kangi on them.Pmease keep the videos coming
Thank you so much for watching as always and for checking out the new shop! I very much appreciate your feedback!🥰Finding it hard to work out the kanji on those bottles, but they're called "Genzo Tokkuri" and shops used to lend them to customers buying sake. They're also called "Kayoi (commuter) Tokkuri") as they went back and forth between customer and shop. It'll be the shop and/or the brewery name inscribed in iron glaze on the front, but there were many breweries back then so your two bottles may not be from the same shop🤔
Great videos. Would you know any shops or areas for second hand designer furniture?
Thank you so much! Not too sure but I think there's one in Sendagi, so not far from Yanaka. They have an Instagram: funagain_sendagi
@ thanks, I’ll check it out!
