    I succesfully converted my Acer 11" spin over to Cloudready (AUE is due to end in June) by _carefully_ following these instructions.
    My beloved 11" now has a new lease of life!

    THANK YOU!! I was working on this all night, and I ran into so many issues, one after the other, I'm SOO glad I found a super straight forward, newer tutorial with even the same laptop I downloaded it on! Couldn't have been a better tutorial

    09/2021 and it worked without problems - great tutorial! Thank you so much Terry! Saved me from buying a new Chromebook as Prime Video and Spotify stopped working on my Acer C720 with stock ChromeOS. Now with Cloudready it all works again perfectly.

    Where I work we have some of these chromebooks out on the shop floor. We didn't need them anymore so I grabbed one to clean up and install Cloudready for my daughter to use at home since she uses chromebooks at school. All the buttons work as they should, and nice she has something to do her homework on. Thank you!

    Fantastic tutorial. I converted my personal Acer C720 to Cloudready a while ago, and this video would have made it a lot easier.
    I haven't found another Chromebook that is as cheap as the Acer was, and a lot of Chromebooks being sold new are not even as fast as it. A great machine to keep using.

      Thanks, Greg. Cloudready doesn't work with all chromebooks, especially non-Intel based. But the C720 is really still quite the workshorse.

      any ideas why that screw need to be removed? Im curious

    • @fcortesjp
      @fcortesjp 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@albertkinng the screw is a physical mechanism (like a switch) to ensure that the original firmware which helps the system boot can't be overwritten, by removing the screw you're giving yourself permission so that can be tampered with, in this case, for a good cause.

    • @terryscott3897
      @terryscott3897  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some HP Chromebooks have a very teeny tiny micro switch instead of a screw. For those you have to take the keyboard off and the palm rest off to expose the micro switch. Then you just flip the switch the other direction and it becomes usable for cloud ready.

    I have an Acer Chromebook c720 and I was able to install CloudReady without having to remove any screws. All I needed to do was go into developer mode, and do "sudo enable_dev_usb_boot" at the bash shell, plug in the boot USB drive, reboot, press Ctrl+U at the "OS verification is OFF" screen, then launch the installer as directed in the video.

Any thoughts about this? I wonder if "Google" put some sort of "flag" to prevent "end-of-Life" owners getting the most from their "Dead" machines?
