What a fantastic piece of our social history that little film is. The Bank House pub is long gone sadly, no wonder our communities are in trouble! Wylie, you are a legend and I love you.
The Mighty Wah! were a great band too.. just didnt go out of England really, pity about that.. Wylie made some really awesome records. Need to see much more of these on TH-cam and the likes
Loved Pete Wylie, Wah Heat, The Mighty Wah, the Teardrops & Echo & The Bunnymen. Exiting times they were early eighties and the Liverpool Explosion. Great film short. And it's true what Wylie says; Liverpool people are the funniest, most quick witted people in Britain.
O M G what a great film this takes me back to my youth when me and me mates had the time of our lives Liverpool then was not like it is today but the night life and all the great gigs we went to before the bands we saw were famous, they were just like us no hairs and graces just down to earth people absolutely the best time of my life
Pete Wylie definately had the talent and charisma to be huge and to "go far" but his loyalty to his hometown probably grounded him there..I hope Liverpool appreciates him the same way..I would imagine he is a long loved legend there.... I hate my home town -it's a kip. But being stuck here for decades has a lot to do with that..sick of the bloody sight of it 😅
Nice little video, before the Albert Dock was restored to what it is now looks like the restoration work of the Dock add already begun which I think was completed in 1988 Pete Wylie a nice guy too. 🙂
What a wee epic clip at Docks before This Morning came along....and infamous Garden Festival at time. Lucky this never be quite be same as seen here. I haven't never been there either.
I hitchhiked one day from Luton to Grangemouth ....probably the most interesting day of my life....one of my lifts was a woman from a radio station who had interviewed Pete Wylie that week....she said to me that he was a right asshole.........but he doesnt seem so bad here... :)
Hi Leonie, I uploaded this clip.It was broadcast in 1985 on BBC 2 in Great Britain. It was a feature on a programme called OXFORD ROADSHOW broadcast from Manchester in the UK.The clip is owned by BBC TV.
So, Flanagan's Apple used to be a tea room frequented by new wave, eighties song writers? Now it's a lively pub, with bands and Irish music. Who'd want that? No respect for culture have they.
Come Back is a great song but if people were not leaving why write it? Makes no sense. Liverpool as a place constantly self mythologising and making up stories about how great it is. Even 37 years later it is run down, full of litter, a majority of violent crime in the UK has links to Liverpool ( fact), poor education, and high levels of anti social behaviour. God only knows why cruise ships stop there. I bet the passengers cannot believe what they see on docking.
@@mr.mickey3757 It is true but the lack of erudition in your reply is not surprising. The relationship between Liverpool and reality is tenuous at best.
What a complete load of crap! Have you been in a time machine back to thatchers dark days? Liverpool has been a city on the up for the best part of 25 years
You sound like a Bigot, I notice your YT channel 'contains no content' what a surprise...BTW writing the word 'fact' as a parenthesis does not verify your sweeping, ignorant claims.
This song grabs me like no other. Bitter sweet doesn’t cover it. Pete you’re a legend.
the world needs more Pete Wylie's
I liked hearing him talk about the old days.
What a fantastic piece of our social history that little film is. The Bank House pub is long gone sadly, no wonder our communities are in trouble! Wylie, you are a legend and I love you.
Down to earth guy...Best way to be...😎😎
Pete Wylie, An absolute legend :)
So brilliant x I'll see u in Blackpool xx
Very funny. We need Wylie doing more stuff like this now!
Wylie. A complete legend!
I loved this video. I need to visit Liverpool and maybe meet the Legend Pete Wylie! 👏👏🙏🏽🙏🏽
You won't be disappointed. Pete will be happy, there's not many leaving the 'pool these days. If anything the traffics going the other way.
Flanagans Apple, wonderful memories of many a good night there.
That was great, what a man
Any bloke who was in a band with the future leaders of Echo and the Bunnymen and The Teardrop Explodes is a special scouse.
The Mighty Wah! were a great band too.. just didnt go out of England really, pity about that.. Wylie made some really awesome records. Need to see much more of these on TH-cam and the likes
@@justinebourke2811 He's a right cheeky lad is our Pete.

What an adorable scallywag! Loving the look and oh so missing being that young. 😢 A crush that has re-ignited ❤

Liverpool's changed so much since then, and yet in many ways it hasn't changed at all.

Does anyone know what channel this was originally on? Or who owns the footage? Making a documentary and I'm desperate for any information about this.

Great little piece, though I can't stop pissing myself over how devoid of gorm the chap on the right in the studio at the end is!
Ha - I think it must have been the pool of life.
manny paquiao is playing the drums on 5:08,

Irish music? Oh fuck no thanks! I'd like to visit Liverpool though.
@MrMonkeystep Ha ha! So he is. That's really funny.
The only problem with wylie is, his songs are over produced. Much prefer the live takes
liverpool is not the same as it was back then, and not for the better , demographics, accent and the reds are now pathetically failing
Not as much as the Sunderland Tyne and Wear people.........
scousers far more mentally tougher and humble than makem or
