    I was thinking, I see a lot of people are upset. Most of them have the scout already though. Like you said. And I have been looking at this bike for a couple of years and pretty much settled on it. I was hella excited when they announced the rogue. Being a bit taller myself, A lot of these customizations I would have had to make. Now its done and blacked out too.
    Like for me its a dream come true. Now I just gotta buy the damn thing.
    So, yeah man your video pretty much nailed it.
    I also understand your wants and needs for an upgrade to the scout lineup. An end game. That too sounds like fun. And should be visited at some point.
    Great video, thanks!

      @@TheMotoScout I would love to get a scout sixty rogue bc I heard its great for smaller shorter riders 5'6 here is that correct? is it something someone like me can handle

    • @TheMotoScout
      @TheMotoScout  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@tafallout6172 I’m 5’6” as well. The Scout Sixty is just a small displacement and horse power engine. The bike size is exactly the same.
      If you have any experience riding I would say to go for the full size rogue, bobber, or scout over the sixty.
      If you have no experience. The sixty will be a good bike to gain experience in before handling something with more HP.
      That being said, the sixty still have plenty of power. It just depends on your goals and riding style.
      The setup for your height on any bike will be to reduce the reach for your arms and legs so you’re more comfortable on the bike. For me the performance floor boards and adjust the mini apes back a little gave me the comfort I needed to fit the bike better.
      At stock you’ll feel more stretched depending on your arm length and inseam.

    For 30 years I have been into sport bikes and had one up until recently. I went with a friend to a dealership a couple hours away so he could pick up his new KTM Duke 890 and the dealer also had Indians. This was my first time really seeing the Indian lineup and when I sat on the Rogue it was like no other cruiser I had ever experienced before. Now I have a 2023 Rogue in all black and absolutely love the bike.

    The rogue has two things I want in my Scout 20. The quarter fairing and a seat that I can stay in under hard acceleration. Indian is offering the Rogue as the bike that will bring more buyers into the brand while keeping the price at a price we all can dream to afford. It also brings more accessories for us that already have a Scout and simply want to add more to our bikes. The Scout is turning into the platform that can be mold to exactly what we want out of a bike.

The rogue looks like a great platform and I’m hoping the scout line continues to push Harley to innovate on the new sportster line. Same thing just happened with the Challenger/Pursuit option. Lots of guys set their Challengers up like Pursuit and they released a new line offering it all in one package.

    What would have made the Rogue bad ass, is if they took the power plant from the FTR and put it in the Rogue, or do the same minor modifications to the engine that they did for the FTR, larger bore, bigger stroke and higher compression piston to push the horsepower and torque numbers up, since they share the same engine. With those numbers, customers would only have to do what they did with the Scout Bobber by adding some updates to it such as a 2 into 1 exhaust, better air filter and a tune. That would easily leave the modified Pan America/Harley Sportster S in the dust and been more appealing.

    Good video. You explained it the way I thought on the subject. I still think Indian missed an opportunity here by not offering the options of adding cruise control, and their new touchscreen. I believe more options are better. This in no way affects all the people out there that do not want the tech on their Scout. I'm with them. I bought the 111c.i. version of the new Chief with analog dial just so I would NOT have that glowing touchscreen contraption. I'm glad it came with cruise control (helps in the winter). I'm really glad it has a fuel gauge, the LCD variety. Same old tech we all used in our school calculators in the 70s and 80s Lol! Every rinky-dink lawnmower and nice quality mower I've used or owned had a rudimentary fuel gauge. It's about damn time they at least do that for the Scouts.

    I noticed some of Deals Gap in this video.. I did the Tail of the Dragon the first time on my 2018 Indian Scout Bobber. It was a beautiful bike. Matte Black with ABS. I sold it to a friend of mine to get a 22 Street Glide Special, because my wife loves to ride too. We just had another trip to the Smokies for Thunder in the Smokies at Maggie Valley, and we also did the dragon again. First time she every rode. I miss my indian for beating around town. I like the Rogue. Slick-looking bike.
    I also liked it years ago when Polaris called it an Octane. The least they could've done is used the Octane's gearing.
    Scout's a good line of bikes, but it needs a freshening. Little more juice all around, new speedo, some new toys, etc. I imagine Polaris is aware of this and will be attempting to answer the new Sportster. As far as your comment on the higher price...the S is the premium Sporty, there will be cheaper options.

    • @TheMotoScout
      @TheMotoScout  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do see HD coming up with cheaper Sportsters on the platform they’ve created, but I still believe Indian delivers more bike for the buck at the end of the day. Pan Am hasn’t been as big as they expected, Livewire flopped, and the Sportster S doesn’t look like it’s going to be as big as they expected it to be.
      If I was looking at Sportster S, I’d probably just get an FTR from Indian.
      I agree about the gearing. I was hoping for a performance upgrade and ride modes to give Scout more edge. I think it’s coming.

    • @stevem4783
      @stevem4783 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheMotoScout The Pan Am has been huge and very well received, I'm not sure what you're talking about there. Past that, if you want a Sporty S right now good luck, because they're impossible to find. I think they've been received pretty well outside of the Harley purists (but those are the guys that would rather the company die off than modernize.)
      Past that, I know people like to say the S is FTR competition, but the FTR is a naked and the S is a power cruiser. Ergonomically, style, and comfort wise, it's more a Scout competitor than the FTR, people just bring up the FTR because its performance is closer to the S, but they're not the same style of bike and I doubt many people are going to cross shop them. They will cross shop the Scout with the Sporty line, though...and right now, all that the Indian has over the Sportster is looks and sound, both of which are subjective.
      Yeah, the Livewire definitely flopped. I rode one, thought it was a blast and a cool concept, but I'd never shell out 30k for one. FWIW - XL1200X owner.

  • @shano81

    I like the 16" wheel in the front on your bike. It gives the Scout Bobber tighter steering since the smaller wheel has less inertia- plus you could get sport bike tires on it if you looked hard enough. The 19" wheel on the new Rogue is nice for stability and some like the way it stances the bike, but imho your setup is the nicest features of the original Scout Bobber and the Rogue all in one.
    I have a love/hate relationship with the Indian Scout, previously owning one. It was my first motorcycle and perhaps too much for me. The rear tire was hard to swing into turns, it was as if I had to beg it to change directions. The vibrations at higher rpm's actually shook off one of my rear quick release hub(? not sure what to call that one of four bolts that hold on quick release back rests) and was not relaxing.
    On the otherhand- the bike was visually stunning in Indian red and tan livery. I got complemented all the time on it at the gas station, coffee shop, and even once at the bank. That always made me feel so good :) I also got it for a steal at $7k back in 2016, used. I added heated grips, closeouts for the engine guard, and a big windshield- and it became a very incredible touring bike. Of course, I didn't know what I had being my first bike and traded it in on a sportster, which was regrettable. I miss that bike. This is the longest comment I have ever made on a TH-cam video, thank you for your time.

    If I was shopping for a scout it would be the rogue. I think it was a wise decision on Indian. Not to put huge changes in the scout lineup. This is the most affordable bike they carry. By keeping the cost down it will attract new riders to the company. It's one of the reasons why I picked up a scout Bobber 60 over the HD sportster. One of the few negatives, why didn't they add a fuel gauge to the scouts?

    I have recently been shopping to get into the cruiser world and to bump up my horsepower for about $10K..,.coming from a comfortable Adventure bike. I was getting frustrated because most cruisers that had the comfort and horsepower I was interested in cost quite a bit more than 10K or I would have to modify them quite a bit for a lot of money to be comfortable, so I was losing interest and I was gonna stick with my bike. When shopping, I was most attracted to the Scout bobber with the price point and look so when I saw the Rogue version of the Scout come out I was thrilled and called my dealer. Indian added comfort to a great looking bike with a good price point. ( just like you said in your video). My average ride is 4-6 hours with some good twisties so comfort with good ergos and wind protection and some handling helps me enjoy motorcycling at a higher level….So the bars, windscreen, seat, and better handling with the narrower front tire really caught my attention. There should be one at my dealer in a month or two to test drive…and maybe purchase.

    I think the Scout is a great bike to customize w a bigger front wheel and the mini apes or a new seat and pipes. So all the complaints about some models not having LED lights.
    Go to any chrome shop at a big truck stop and you can exchange any halogen lights for LED and even customize with more LEDs or ground effects and I recommend the strobe brake lights as well. It’s a small plastic box you hook to your brake lights that makes them flash when you apply brakes. That to me makes the ride safer.

      Ruroc Atlas 2.0 at 1:30 and the 2:04 isn’t me, it’s footage from the Indian launch video but I believe that’s the Bell Moto 3 or the Indian Helmet that looks similar.

    It’s a shame Indian scout hasn’t been upgraded to compete with HD Sportster S with added performance & tech, other than the FTR but that’s really not a cruiser it a naked bike so it’s not a fair comparison, do you know if Indian is planing to compete with HD in the near future ?

    • @TheMotoScout
      @TheMotoScout  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bang for buck the Indian Scout Bobber still wins in my opinion but I’d love to demo the Sportster S.
      I don’t know that having something that starts at $16k msrp is really competitive. You’re going to pay $20k or more out the door to get it from a dealer.
      You can get a Chief for that now.

    I like the taller tire it will help cornering and the apes will help with my reach bc they have more pull back and im a shorter guy also the lil fairing can help a little in wind draft but still give you a classic bare bones type ride I've been riding old harleys all my life I like the old school style bare bikes I've had alot of sportsers and dynas but the scout is way better than a sporster in my opinion being water cooled 6 speed and way more power and higher redline

    SCOUT Rogue is a bit subtle for me. There is no doubt that it is cool, but my image of SCOUT is more of a beauty.
    I was riding a 2016 Indian SCOUT WILDFIRE RED.
    I live in Japan, and in my mind, American is Harley, and I used to think it is a noisy and dirty bike ridden by a bad-looking old man.
    But when I saw the Indian SCOUT, I was very shocked.
    The beauty without excessive beauty, the rational design, the water-cooled V-twin that never forgets to assert itself, and the style in which even the radiator is incorporated into the design.
    Everything was fresh, and I was so impressed with the engine characteristics that I signed a contract on the same day I test drove it.
    The Willow Green over Ivory Cream with Gold Pinstripe that was sold at the same time was also very beautiful, so I had an image that Indian = classy.
    From that point of view, it seems a little difficult to approach.

    Given the fact that the Sportster has gone the way of the dodo, the Scout has now become the new "affordable" American Cruiser. They're still a bit expensive in the UK in the second hand market when compared to the Sportsters, but they're also newer and with better performance overall. This was the right move and I hope they keep its price as low as they can for as long as they can in order to have a real affordable American Cruiser on the market, because nowadays Harley is basically a boutique brand for LARPers that want to pretend they're on Easy Rider or Sons of Anarchy.
