Surprised you missed all the first 3 Indiana Jones movies, Lethal Weapon, The Karate Kid and Beverly Hills Cop which are key touchstone essential 80's movies.

These were definitely some classics! Here is a few more Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Steel Magnolias, any John Hughes film, Nightmare on Elm St, Friday The 13th, The Lost Boys, Home Alone, Xanadu. I could go on and on! The 80's brought some of the most iconic films in entertainment history!

Re: Fast Times, I don't think the underage sex, especially underage girls having sex with college/adult guys holds up by today's societal and film standards. I just watched it again a few months ago and still love it... But then again, I was one of those underage teen girls in the early/mid 80s 😂

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is Prime #1 on your list. I grew up in the 70s and I've seen (and enjoyed) all the movies you've listed but .. seriously, Ferris Bueller is the movie I _always_ stop to watch. "Come on, Come on, Come on baby now (come on baby), .. come on and work it all out!"
Add "Yellow - Oh Yeah" to the sound track and .. well, now it's addictive

Ive been on a nostalgia kick lately and subsequently dragging my 10 year old son to watch along with me
He's always reluctant but always entertained
Something about the 80s. They knew how to draw the kids in and keep the adults engaged

I love all these movies! I'm so glad Full Metal Jacket was on the list, it's one of my favourite films of all time! Personally, though, I would've found a place on the list for Robocop, The Thing and American Werewolf In London!

    The quintessential list!👍👍
Princess Bride is still one of my faves, I pull it off the shelf a few times every year, especially when I need to escape reality for a bit.
Oh, and thank GOODNESS the writers of BttF changed the time machine from a fridge to a car. Who knows how many kids we'd have lost as it came out years before the safety regulation of removing doors from discarded fridges was created.

Ghostbusters, The Secret of NIMH, Labyrinth, Twins, Trading Places, Scrooged, Coming to America, The Great Outdoors, Good Morning Vietnam, Ernest Goes to Camp, Purple Rain, The Karate Kid, Uncle Buck, UHF and Stripes are my picks.

I definitely will never forget ET. The first time, I went to see it in the theater. I left about 5-10 mins at the beginning. Crying hysterical by people running through the field. Didn't show anything but running and something sounding like it was crying. I finally sat through the whole thing. It was so heart touching and filled with love. Thanks to my mom, keeping on insisting I go and see it. I was too hooked on Poltergeist. I love ET and will never get tired of it. This is a must-see movie if you haven't seen it yet. You definitely won't be disappointed.

Aliens and Full metal jacket were not my favouirtes but the rest were brilliant.
But as other comment have said - there were tons of other brilliant other 80s movies that this list did not mention.
The Breakfast Club, Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, Star Trek 4 the Voyage Home, Speed, Dirty Dancing, Top Gun, Indiana Jones 3 and Ghostbusters - these were all BIG favourites of mine!!!

I would have chosen different, and realize that this is not a top ten just ten and potentially another list of ten movies that are timeless that indicate that you have other list of ten timeless movies from the 1980s. My ten timeless movies from the 1980s will include a couple of series as well as standalone films. This my first ten but can easily give a top 50 as there are 50 awesome movies from the 1980s easily if not 100.
    10. The Burbs
    09. The Lost Boys
    08. Predator
    07. Ghostbusters
    06. Spaceballs
    05. Police Academy 1-4
    04. Indiana Jones 1-3
    03. Rambo 1-3
    02. Die Hard
    01. Silver Bullet
Keep in mind I am leaving off Cobra, Commando, Great Outdoors, Planes-Trains-&-Automobiles, Funny Farm, Uncle Buck, The Running Man, Over The Top, Black Cauldron, The re-release of Sword In The Stone, Star Trek 2-5, Empire Strikes Back, Return of The Jedi , High Spirits, Short Circuit, Gremlins, Gremlins 2, Ghoulies, Nightmare On Elm Street series, Friday The 13th series, Monster Squad, An American Werewolf In London, Fright Night, Fright Night Part 2, Stripes, Vegas Vacation, Money Pit, Joe vs Volcano, Secret Of Nihm, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Cannon Ball Run movies 1-3, Smokey & The Bandit movies, Deer Hunter, Robo Cop, The best Batman or one of the best although movie should have been called Joker, Conan movies, The Beastmaster, Excalibur, Something Wicked This Way Comes, Watchers, Highlander 1-2, Beetle Juice, Edward Scissor Hands, Superman 2-4, Buckaroo Bonzai, The Thing, The Fog, The original movie of Salem’s Lot and the Return or sequel, War Games, Tango & Cash, Overboard, Big Trouble In Little China, Bloodsport, Puppet Master, Phantasm, K-9, Turner & Hooch, and many many more.

If you’re taking the time to add a comment, make sure you take the time to hit the like button. I enjoy Kevin‘s videos very much and look forward to them but unfortunately, this week I missed the live broadcast because of a phone call. Sit back and have a cuppa coffee and enjoy these. If nothing else you’ll be able to grow back in your mind 30 years when things were a lot simpler, even though we didn’t realize how bad the time again, thank you Kevin for . another great video.

      Totally agree.
While I'm not a gatekeeper (I welcome anyone interested in 70s/80s culture - come onboard!), there IS a difference between experiencing something from the past versus living it at the time. That's why I enjoy Kevin, he's been there done that (or is extremely convincing if im wrong).
I saw ET in theaters when it came out and remember being confused why most _adults_ leaving the previous screening were wiping their cheeks and blowing their noses. That just wouldn't happen nowadays as, unless you've been under a rock, you know the movie's emotional rollercoaster of an ending. Yes, a few will weep (as i would), but never again will it be a whole theater's-worth of people leaving with stunned looks. Well, unless it's rediscovered years after the apocalypse. 😂

@@Middle-Road.Kim.K oh, when I posted this to my Facebook account I pretty much said the same exact thing. In 2000 a friend of mine brought the movie over to the house and she also brought two submarines and said I needed to watch it sat down. we watched it and she did the narration or explanation, which I think I would’ve gotten, but it was better from somebody who loved the movie. Great comment Kevin is wonderful. I look forward to his stuff and have for quite a while

of most of the picks. Best choice
    is "Die Hard". What about:

    "The Big Picture"
    "Beverly Hills Cop"
    "Robocop"
    "Cujo"
    "Spaceballs"
    "The Verdict"

Cory Feldman ruins so many 80s greats. His ick-ness and roaring desperation is hard to suspend. Miss times when actors didn't talk and private lives were kept manageable. At least for studio profit.
