I’m running an A3, an A6 and a Carver AV705 all off an Emo MC1. While the MC1 is buggy as hell as I’ve ordered a Denon x6700h as my previous Denon products were exponentially more stable, the EMO Q is amateur at best and once I read the mic can’t be stand mounted and they want you to hold it with your hand I completely ignored it and generated my own filters with REW. But for $897 shipped with a 10% military discount there isn’t a cheaper way to go full 7.4.6. Provided you have a MiniDSP or similar to add much needed PEQ for your subwoofers you’ll be fine. I add PEQ filters up to 500hz for all of my 13 channels and it sounds great, you do have to manually phase and time align them but again this isn’t an issue. That being said for out of the box performance using MultiEQ-X is much more stream lined but I also paid $2500 for my 6700h, literally almost 3 times what the MC1 cost. One thing I can give Emo is their amps and speakers are solid and an excellent value. I’m also running 6 Emotiva A1 height layer speakers and they’re phenomenal.
Great video !, I think the A3 will be perfect for running my Pair of Martinlogan SLM's & a Motion 8i center channel and continuing to use my (oldie but a goodie) Pioneer VSX-816 for surrounds & ceilings.
Perfect video! I just got my A3 a few days ago and got it hooked up. I’m think of now getting the 4 channel one to power my sides and rear surrounds. I have it hooked up to my denon avx3600h
Great video! Of course they come out with a new BasX line now after I picked up six of the A700's and one A500 for my new theater. It doesn't really matter however, the old version will work just fine for me. I might pick up a couple of the new series to power aux subwoofers for smoothing out the room response. I ran wires for up to four per side but will wait to see how many I need before I buy the amplification for them.
Looks like currently, BasX A3 is temporarily unavailable... so I looked into Outlaw 7000x & kind of debating/struggling to decide which one to buy? Either wait for A3 to power 3x140 or buy the Outlaw 7000x ? which can power 7 channels 7x130 Please advise, thanks!
Great video! I got some questions regarding amplifiers… Right now i’m rocking a 7.1.2 SVS Prime setup in a small room (3,3m x 3,6m). I’m sitting about 2 meters from my speakers and always have the volume at -30 dB from reference. I wan’t to expand my 7.1.2 setup with another 2 atmos speakers (also the Onkyo RZ50 when it releases), but therefore I need an external amplifier. These are the questions I have: 1. Would you recommend getting a 2-channel, 4-channel or 5-channel amplifier for my low listening volume? 2. Which affordable amplifier would you recommend, is the Emotiva BasX from this video any good and available in Europe? Really hope you can help me out! Thanks in advance
Being a two-channel guy I needed something to power my BOSE 901s after I sold my Marantz 2252B receiver. So I bought their PT1 pre-amp and A2 (160 watt/channel) amp. $960 OTD after a military discount. I just wish it were made in the US.
Disappointed!! Firstly had to buy a power cord adapter as it was USA plug not Australia. Power everything up for LCR, so my Denon AVR-X4700H Doesn't have to the heavy lifting, only to find when i turn volume up to about 85% the Emotiva BasX 3 shuts down. It’s not even running hot, slight warm to touch. At 85% volume from my Denon AVX4700H i get (for 2-CH stereo) about 103dBA, with the Emotiva i lose 10dBA and only get 93dBA, and if i click it up just one more the auto cut-off kicks in. How Can this be, when the Specs of the Emotiva BasX3 (150W x 2 Ch driven into 8 ohm) is better than that of the Denon AVR-X4700H. (130W x 2 Ch driven into 8 ohm) ???? Please explain Emotiva??? I also have rear surrounds I think I would have to add those to the AVR. and I correct in the setup? If not what would you suggest. Thanks in advance.

Hi Robert! I have a 5.1.4 setup and I like to have equal power to all five ear level speakers, so I have a pretty BEEFY 5 channel power amp...the Parasound A51. Let me know if you need some other options that don't cost as much. Email me - Technodad55 at gmail dot com
My question is after you moved the right front left and center connections to the power amp, how are they engaged with the AV receiver when watching a Blu-ray or whatever? Is it automatic because of the pre-out link or is there a on off to control the routing of the signals?
Channa i have Imran is 7013 if I got the emotevia 3 channel wod it be too powerful for my sony kd55AG9 im using as a centre speaker left /right are klh kendalls the marantz handles the tv no probs and is set to80 HZ
Channa, I'm excited to see this unboxing and review of the BasX A3 as there aren't just that many reviews for 3-channel amplifiers. I've been debating between the A2 (two-channel) and the A3 (three-channel). Here's my question: If I only get the A2 can I "generally" assume the AVR itself put out more power to the remaining channels (especially the center channel) as it no longer needs to power the front left and right speakers?
Had the same question...got the A2 and I believe the rest of the channels on the AVR sound better and center ch is more clear.... I believe you do get more power to the rest of speakers connected to the AVR.
Yo techno dad!!!! Is this enough power for the front sound stage? Should I go to the next model up for 240 watts? I’m sitting 12 ft from my speakers. Currently upgrading from def tech 9000 series to Klipsch to 8000 and 504.
So, if we go from 140 wpc to 240 wpc, you are maybe going to experience a 1.5 - 2 dB increase, possibly. To get a 3 dB increase, you will need to double the power. So at close to 300 wpc, you will get a 3 dB increase. But I don't know if that's going to be too noticeable. Going from AVR to External amp for front stage should be a noticeable difference. The XPA-3 also has XLR inputs if you ever wanted to go the pre/pro route, so there's that as well. It's up to you, really. Those Klipsch are pretty sensitive, so you may not need more than 140. It's up to you, at the end of the day. I had 250 wpc running into five ear level speakers in my system.
5:40 the more profit would be not from external amplifier, but from adequate sensitivity. Everything which is below 92db considered not suitable for home theatre.

Enjoyed your video on the Emotiva A3 . I have a question I hope you can provide some insight for me . My question is I have a Yamaha RX-A3080. I was hopping to use the preout to the center channel and two Klipsch Atmos speakers . However I don’t see anything labeled for Atmos on the preout section . What do I use . My second question is that the preouts look like it’s for connecting a left (white ) and right (red) cable to it. Do I use a “Y” connection cable? Thank you. Mike C
Hi Mike! With this kind of amplifier, I would connect it to your front stage to get the best possible experience. Connect Left, Center, Right RCAs to this amp. Let the A3080 power the rest.
Just got this amp and trying to run the front stage (left, right and center) to it from my Marantz 8015 and it does not seem possible to connect the center unless you turn on Pre-Amplifier mode which turns off the internal Marantz amplifier for all channels. I assume there is no way around this and I am stuck just running in 13.1 and connecting the fronts to the Emotiva?
Hi! I’m not sure what the wattage would be with 6 ohm speakers. I would imagine something in between 4 ohm and 8 ohm wattage. If the amp can handle 4 ohm speakers, it can handle 6 ohm speakers.
Hope you’ll answer this as I just bought the new BasX 3 channel amp like you have. I’m connecting it to a Denon 6500h 11 channel amp with 2 SVS 3000 SUBS. I Plan to use amp for FR, FL, and C speakers, in hopes freeing up AVR to power the rest. I’ll provable start off running a 9.2, or 11.2 setup and then switch to 7.2.4 w/atmos in ceiling. Please let me know if this worth it and front sound stage is Klipsch 8000 towers for R & L and Klipsch 504 Center Channel speaker. Thanks in advance for any advice. Wm.~
Hi Wm! Yes! It’s a huge upgrade for your front stage. I had the Klipsch RP280F and RP450C with an external amp and it was awesome! You are guaranteeing 140 watts per channel for your front stage. That’s a HUGE amount compared to what the AVR can output when running 7, 9, or 11 channels. Hope that helps!

Hi! The SR7015’s RCAs pre outs are “always on” so just plug it in and it should work. There is a “pre-out mode” but you would need external amps for all your speakers.
Channa, my MRX 1120 (or 720 for that matter) drives 140 watts per channel for the first 5 channels, so essentially the same power as the Emotiva...not sure it will make a difference, although I love that price vs 3k for an anthem 3 channel power amp which has more power. Am I not getting 140 watts in my fronts when running all 11 channels with my Anthem mrx 1120? Keep up the great work, cheers from Canada!
Not true man. The Anthem drops to about 70 watts per channel with 5 channels driven. Check out sound and visions review of the 1120. With 2 channels driven the 1120 hits 134 watts per channel.

I have a Basx five channel from before they redid the line, a lot of similarities, use it for my surround channels and run my 4700 in preamp mode, with a Parasound for left and right, no comparison to receiver amps, not to mention how cool my 4700 runs.
Finally got one after watching three years of videos. Going with my Yamaha RX-A2080 to power the front three. Renewed for $509.
Giddy-up!
@@TechnoDadHooked up , major improvement, some might be placebo effect, but who cares? more boxes ,more lights, win, win! Wished it had power meters…I do love meters.
I love my basx a3 it really makes my jamo concert shine.
Got mine yesterday and had the privilege of watching the UPS driver dropping it on the floor of his delivery truck
Been saving up for 6 years to get this beautiful amp
Nice! You’ll love it!
Perfect video! I just got my A3 a few days ago and got it hooked up. I’m think of now getting the 4 channel one to power my sides and rear surrounds. I have it hooked up to my denon avx3600h
Did you notice a big difference between the a3 and the internal amp of your x3600h ?
@@764bastien why is nobody ever answering on this?!
@@764bastien you need a power amp to get 7.1.4 anyway
Great video! Of course they come out with a new BasX line now after I picked up six of the A700's and one A500 for my new theater. It doesn't really matter however, the old version will work just fine for me. I might pick up a couple of the new series to power aux subwoofers for smoothing out the room response. I ran wires for up to four per side but will wait to see how many I need before I buy the amplification for them.
Hello. Can I use emotiva 3 with 6 ohms speakers? I have 2 JBL A180 and A135C for front stage. Will I have improved with emotiva? Thank you.
Hi Technodad, What do you recommend?>
Outlaw after reviewing Emotiva?
Please let me know, Thank you- as always!
Looks like currently, BasX A3 is temporarily unavailable... so I looked into Outlaw 7000x
& kind of debating/struggling to decide which one to buy?
Either wait for A3 to power 3x140 or buy the Outlaw 7000x ? which can power 7 channels 7x130
Please advise, thanks!
Great video! I got some questions regarding amplifiers…
Right now i’m rocking a 7.1.2 SVS Prime setup in a small room (3,3m x 3,6m). I’m sitting about 2 meters from my speakers and always have the volume at -30 dB from reference. I wan’t to expand my 7.1.2 setup with another 2 atmos speakers (also the Onkyo RZ50 when it releases), but therefore I need an external amplifier. These are the questions I have:
1. Would you recommend getting a 2-channel, 4-channel or 5-channel amplifier for my low listening volume?
2. Which affordable amplifier would you recommend, is the Emotiva BasX from this video any good and available in Europe?
Really hope you can help me out!
Thanks in advance
Just got mine delivered today 🙌
Nice!!
Thank you showing the connections real-time!
You're welcome!
Being a two-channel guy I needed something to power my BOSE 901s after I sold my Marantz 2252B receiver. So I bought their PT1 pre-amp and A2 (160 watt/channel) amp. $960 OTD after a military discount. I just wish it were made in the US.
lol
Tried putting this review on their website and it wont accept it, what only good reviews allowed??
Hi, Please post the full review video of Emotiva BasX A3, I want to use this with my Denon AVR-X4700H & Polk Reserve R600 & R400 for my front stage. Is this combination will be helpful to improve the sound quality & shifting the load off from AVR that will improve the performance of surround speakers & Atmos speakers. Is this will help...!!!?
Please reply your advice will be great help for me.
I need help! I have 2 JBL 530 Studio Bookshelf (125W) & 1 JBL Studio 120c (150W). They all are 6 Ohms. Can I use this Emotiva BasX A3 Amp for this setup? or what do you recommend for my speakers?
Thank you for the this. I gained insight on how to set up my new Emotiva BassX. What type of RCA cables should I use?
Sweet! I use Mogami 3 foot RCAs which aren't too expensive, but are also not cheap - amzn.to/3sG17Iq
I only sit 7ft away from my speakers and only run 5.1 system, so added a 2ch stereo amp to Preouts Front Left and Right so my AV Receiver is only driving Centre and 2 Surrounds
And? Did it make an audible difference or no?
I just upgraded my polk signatures to the reserve r600, r400 and r100 in a 5.2 setup with my PB1000 Pros. WouId it be better to get the A2 or A3 for my speakers? I know u cant turn off all the amps in the x3600h. My first seperate.
Hey Techno Dad. Hope all is well. I enjoy your videos and I have a question. I am currently running a Denon X4700H and added an Emotiva BasXA3 to the mix. I’m running SVS Prime Pinnacles for the front stage. Will adding more power than the A3 to the front stage have any real benefit. I listen to a lot of music and was wondering about more power for two channel listening.
Audio Advise just shipped my Onkyo RZ50 AVR and I plan to purchase the Emotiva BasX A3. The A3 will run my LCR fronts, the RZ50 will run 4 Atmos speakers and 2 Subwoofers. I also have rear surrounds I think I would have to add those to the AVR. and I correct in the setup? If not what would you suggest. Thanks in advance.
Hi, I wanted to know whether adding a two channel integrated Stereo Amplifier two the front two channels in an AVR will be good or adding power amplifier to the front LCR will definitely increase the quality of sound
What do you think for outdoor use? Could I power 2, 200 W speakers, and a 300 W passive sub for 2.1 outside use in zone 2?
Good vid. Did you ever do the review?
Just received my BasX A5. Going to connect it to my X3800!
Excellent video. You are covering valuable content that others aren't. A hat tip to you Channa. Thank-you Sir.
So nice of you, thanks!
Is this a upgrade for marantz/denon 8015/6700h receiver?
Getting delivered tomorrow.
TD, can I by amp my front stage with this without hurting anything? My current setup is RF-7III’s and the RC-64III, 250s as my side and back surrounds, currently waiting on my 4 500c’s for Atmos.
I have a Yamaha CX-A5100 and the MX-A5000 11 channel power amp. 150 W pr channel, 2-ch driven
Am I trying to do too much?
So does this mean I can go cheap on an AV receiver (for TV/PC connection, wireless/BT streaming etc) and have everything rely on the BasX in a 3.1 setup?
Yeah, that would be a good plan, you would just need an AVR that has RCA pre-outs.
@@TechnoDad Thanks for the reply! Last question: how do you connect a sub to this setup? The Emotiva BasX A3 is listed as a "3.1" system, but I can't find a connection for the sub?
Will this one be enough for my klipsch RP-280F rated 150w to 8 ohm or should I go with more power?
IT WILL WORK JUST FINE WAY TO YOU NEED MORE POWER THIS IS THE ONE
I'm looking to purchase the Onkyo RZ 50 to power my 4 Atmos and 2 Polk R-100 surround speakers and use the Emotiva to power my Polk R-700 and center channel channel. When setting up Dirac will I still be able to use room correction for my front and center even though they are not powered by the Onkyo. Your immediate response is greatly appreciated thanks for all the knowledge Techno Dad
Hi! You will add the external amp and connect those speakers to the external amp, then run Dirac again.
Thank you for the immediate reply looking forward to future videos.

Just purchased a rocket fish 12’ 8k “certified” ultra high speed cable from BB. I have a demon x6700h & Sony 75” x900h… only the 1 hdmi cord running through eArc on the whole system.
I’m having intermediate audio dropouts (0.5 sec or less)during playback of what seems to be ANY source. I.e. local tv via antenna, apps on the tv & gaming. Bought this new cable, ran the internal denon cable test straight out of the box. (I have mixed reviews about that cable tester) but had a few various results off of 5 test.
Not a cheap cable, thought this might fix the issue, but did not. Are you aware of concerns of their quality? How should I continue to work the prob of what’s causing the drop out?? (I have done all the normal steps, unplug, rerun setup menus on tv & receiver, the whole 9) … 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️…any advice is truly appreciated! Love the channel!!!
Might sound dumb, but are you able to daisy chain 3 of these if I have a 5.2.4 just cause I think it might look cool? 1500 bucks sounds good if this is possible. Thank you for any input.
can i use this one only for my 2 front tower speaker and my 2 subwoofer using 2 channel for my front and the third channel for my subs ???? because this 3 channel emotiva have more power 😄😄
Does using an external amp, let more power from the receiver go to other speakers?
Yes!
So do you think denon 3700h With an amplifier or and 4700h no amp. I’m looking to get into the 4K, I have a 7 to 1 Home theater Bose system with 10 inch sub and an older Sony receiver that I’m looking to replace just want to know your thoughts love the channel
TECHNO DAD SUPP ? I HAVE ONKYO TXRZ-50 WHAT IS YOUR SUGESTION FOR ADDING A POWER AMP UNDER $600 I AM LEANING TO AN EMOTIVA BASX 3. IS THAT A GOOD CHOICE OR WHAT IS YOUR SUGESTION, AS TO ADDING A POWER AMP UNDER $600 DOLLARS?
ALSO DO I NEED AN AMP PAIRED TO RZ50 IN YOUR OPINION?
great video/ loved it am one of your viewers that did not know about power amps. For surround speakers in 5 channel what would you recommed
Hows this compared to something like the raving of the iotavx line up
Hi do you have a video that would suggest what av receiver can be paired with emotiva basX and in-depth how to calibrate and pair them.
good stuff Techno Dad. Good price for sure. How would you compare it to the 3 channel one from MonoPrice
Hi! That's a different price level and you would probably compare that to the Emotiva XPA-3 Gen 3.
For a room size of 350 square feet rectangle size room would I need power amp for front speakers 🔊?
I think the A3 is enough, but you could go higher end amp. It’s up to you. Will you notice the difference? Probably not.
@@TechnoDad I don’t mind spending more as long as I get more, like with with the Xpa-3. Appreciate the information! You’re the man!!
Hi, I have the pioneer vsx-521 receiver and it has surround back/front heights pre out but doesn't has the trigger out,can I still use the amplifier?
5:40 the more profit would be not from external amplifier, but from adequate sensitivity. Everything which is below 92db considered not suitable for home theatre.
This is true!
how come it dont show on my denon 3700 the 3 channel connected emotiva Basx A3...i hook it up right the left right and center to pre out...only left and right shows when i did a pre out on the settings...buts its working all 3 channel lf
I have the marantz SR 7012 with klipsch RP800F, klipsch c404 centers . i have a rotel R985 running the center and surround (100watt a channel). Thinking of getting the emotiva A3 which has 150watts a channel to power the fronts and center. i have the fronts hooked up to the the marantz and front atmos only. Am i going to gain or hear a big diff with this amp?
Hi Techno Dad, I have a 5.2.2 setup and want to make it a 5.2.4 setup. Receiver is a 7.2 and want to make it a 9.2, can an external amp make this possible? Thank you.
Is Yamaha RXA4A good match for the front 3 ??
When is the review??
Just got this amp and trying to run the front stage (left, right and center) to it from my Marantz 8015 and it does not seem possible to connect the center unless you turn on Pre-Amplifier mode which turns off the internal Marantz amplifier for all channels. I assume there is no way around this and I am stuck just running in 13.1 and connecting the fronts to the Emotiva?
Hello and thank you ! What if I got 6ohm speakers. How much watts will I get ? 160watts? Will this work for 6ohm speakers?
Hi! I’m not sure what the wattage would be with 6 ohm speakers. I would imagine something in between 4 ohm and 8 ohm wattage. If the amp can handle 4 ohm speakers, it can handle 6 ohm speakers.
I need the 4 channel amp for the atmos speakers. 100wx4
sir you should do more out side video
Especially when you're front 200 watt speakers are 4 ohm with 6 drivers in each.
Yup!

I have a Denon 4300h for my 5.1.4 home theater system. Since I’m getting an Emotiva basx5 for the center, left/right front channels and surround speakers,I wonder if a basx4 is necessary for the in ceiling atmos speakers or the receiver will be good enough for them, any advice will be appreciate it.
apologies for basic question , after hooking to pre will i have to do audessy again ?
Can’t wait for some testing
Polk Legend 600 need 4 omhs.. Can I use this amp for get a good Quality of sound.. Coz in the description they writen that BasX a3 can do 4omhs only at 1khz.. Not 20- 20khz.. Does it mean the speaker won't sound good
looking forward for an A4 bi-ampring review :p
When a preamps frequency response only goes down to 20hz, does that mean sub 20hz won’t make it to the subwoofer?
I don’t think so. If you’re using a self-powered subwoofer, it won’t mess with the frequency.
Any settings I need to change on my marantz 7015?? I got this same amp. Going to power front three speakers.
Hi! The SR7015’s RCAs pre outs are “always on” so just plug it in and it should work. There is a “pre-out mode” but you would need external amps for all your speakers.
Thank you!!!!!
Hey techno dad. Does the Amp recognize the ohm load and adjust the power or there a setting on the Amp. Planning to use it with my polk r700
Hi! I don't think there is a switch.
@@seanlacroix thanks Sean I’ll check it out.
