Thanks very much for the video. I appreciate the explanation about how to get the glass out. I had not figured that out before. That said, I have changed 3 rear regulators on my 99 E39 without removing the glass. That top torx bolt can be reached when the window is full up. You can reach up the inside of the door with a 10mm crescent wrench and remove / replace that 1 bolt. The rotate the top of the regulator towards the rear of the door while rotating the bottom part towards the front of the door.

This is NOT replacing a regulator. It's REMOVING a regulator.
Use common sense after watching this and replace with a new regulator.

I am in trouble with replacing window regulator in my 2001 bmw 740il. I need to pull down the window to untorque regulaor but motors not working. Tried to pull down window by hands but not moving. Could you give me any advise?
Do you eventually know how to remove the small window? I have a delaminated double protection glass in my E38 and I would like to replace it with double glass. I just can't find any video on how to remove the triangular window.
Thanks Nathan, I am replacing both a front and rear in my E39. I tested without installing the water vapor barrier and saw water coming down the inside of the door. Essentially I went through a car wash to ensure all is ok, but I wasn't expecting water to come through the exterior seals. The water does drain away. Is that normal ? Should I replace exterior seals as well ? Or am I ok to put the rest of the door back together ?
I saw another vid with a very different rear door regulator. I'm going to go the rebuild route. It's just my cable that shit the bed.

there are 2 types of regulators does any regulator fits?
I find removing the lower window crome trim is not needed. 1:10 Just the vertical panel on the outside is nessary
literally shattered my rear driver window the other day. we're driving out to Montana and window got rolled down with bad regulator. being the genius I am try to grip window with pliers and shattered the window. yup

That sucks! Next time get access to the regulator and cut the cable with some cutters or unbolt the glass from the regulator.
