    Thanks for showing. If you have the pull-up window shade, YOU MUST YOU MUST YOU MUST, PULL off the wood trim of the door. There will be 1 screw towards the front of the door and a screw towards the rear of the door that MUST be removed to take off the door or else you'll break the frame of the window frame.

    Thank you, another happy BMW driver.
    I searched TH-cam for tutorials for my window because it took a dump on me. I followed your instructions and voila!

    97 528i tips- I couldn't remove the window divider until I removed the rubber seal that goes between the diver and the window glass. once I pulled that forward I was able to pull the divider forward and up / out. I also couldn't get the plastic interior trim piece back on the interior window divider until i removed the interior chrome trim that runs along the top of the door panel. use a plastic pry bar to pry under and up on the clips. The top bolt for the 97 528i holding the regulator is a E12 inverted torx. Its a star shaped bolt head. a 10mm socket fits on the bolt, but it's kind of loose. a 10mm socket might work, but might strip it out. Bentley has a nice video that uses a slightly different method of replacement. best to look at a few videos to get all the tips.

    This worked great! Replaced my window regulator in no time... Large binder clips (in place of duck tape) also works great to hold the panel while it's drying. I also bought "butyl tape" from the hardware store to reseal the inner panel to the door.

    Wish I had this video a while back when I paid a shop $$ just to stop the water leak on the back door of my 540. Now the first thing i do when there is an issue is look for a TH-cam video then determine if I wish to tackle the repair or not.

      I wish TH-cam DIY's were around 15 years ago when I spent a lot of money on my indy shop to repair stuff I could have done on the cheap.

    That inside vertical plastic trim will just pull off with your fingers. I wouldn't use the glass to prise against. Also, I could take the glass bolt out with the window up through the hole that's there and then could just carefully slide the glass down. Found the window was held up with a piece of bamboo.

    1. Thank you. Your video helps me to take on the challenge.
    2. I have a BMW 525i. Does it matter if it's a REAR drivers side or REAR passenger side regulator system unit to replace? It's REAR drivers side.
    Do I have to specify when ordering?
    About 5 years ago I replaced a Q4X driver front regulator. Don't think I had to specify then. Thnx Mary

    No one talks about the clip in the center which is a bastard. Every video it's miraculously undone already.

    • @ZirahOG

    • @yaadman-x5141
      @yaadman-x5141 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's a clip in the center of the door, right below the handle which nobody mentions in their videos.

  • @turbotrana
    @turbotrana 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That shitty bolt I do with the window in place. You can get a spanner up there to undo and you can also do it back up. It is not that hard once you get the knack to it. You would think you couldn't but you can with a little patience, agility and if you don't have a big arm. The funny head on that bolt allows you to do small turns and its made in a way that allows you to get the bolt back in place easily with that washer on the bolt. I use a flat closed end 10mm spanner and also grind the head so it is narrower and the inner teeth are more exposed on the edge so it can grab the head of the bolt better.

    hello nathan. My 330ci passenger window rattles unless it is fully up. would it require a new regulator or what exactly holds the glass onto the regulator, and can that be renewed replaced repaired?

    • @vettepicking

      you have a frameless glass, its got some broke clips or rollers on the tracks in the door. not a easy fix for a first timer.
