Great performance of a monumental piece! After hearing this Sonata for the first time, I think Reubke was at least as gifted as Brahms if not more. If you look for such depth and skill at the age of 23 you are left only with Bach, Mozart, Schubert, Chopin and Brahms. Moreover Reubke is ahead of his time. Some parts sound like beginning of the 20. Century.
I have to say, even if I have a radically different way of understanding the score, I'm pleased at listening master Raymond going trhough the score with his own oversigh. The original score is not easy to read. It is a different mindset from Liszt, but most importantly, in my humble opinion, it is mandatory to see the piano from an organist registration expert point of view (Reubke was an organist)
Das ist phantastisch gespielt ! Bravo !! Und DANKE daß Sie diese wunderbare Sonate spielen ! Sie ist der Liszt Sonate ebenbürtig !
I've seen it playing the litz sonata at the Montreal's conservatoire, 20 years back ago. I was astonished.
Bravo! Mr.Raymond vous êtes le meilleur.

Is he Bruce Liu’s teacher?
Clearly a pupil of Liszt, Julius Reubke already gives here in this sonata something approaching the style of Nicolai Medtner...
Yes, sure, that was the first composition I heard of Reubke
