    I can't believe the audience just didn't know when to clap after such an insane performance of an underrated Sonata, this Sonata should definitely be in the standard repertoire along with its counterpart the Liszt Sonata!

    I know this score by heart. This masterpise is inside my heart. I can say that this pianist has the gust to give her own vision. . Bravo, guenine interprétation of this Marvelous piece of the répertoire. Thank you.

      First time I've heard this piece was in Montréal played by Richard Raymond. Afterward I've fallen in love With the Guillou performance. Honestly speaking, it's the first time I hear a true guinine vision of this piece. Very interesting. Female vision of an young 22 fever young men composer that die the same year, and the result is quite surprising. Dont quite this répertoire madame, you have something for sure. Underscriptable (and it's not to be blindly kind).

    Julius Reubke appears to me to be the piano equivalent of neglected orchestral composer Hans Rott whose glorious Symphony in E Major is only now starting to gain traction in the concert halls after 140 years of total neglect. Like Reubke, Rott died young at 25 of tuberculosis and like Reubke, Rott composed only a handful of works, one of which was the aforementioned symphony which foreshadowed the symphonies of Mahler. Mahler once remarked that he could have considered Rott his musical brother and that together the two of them might have exhausted the possibilities of the symphony. I can see why Liszt took Reubke on as a student. Miss Steppes, you play this with the poise, technique and artistry of a seasoned pianist. You're a bright star on the horizon. Congratulations on your accomplishments.

Kompliment.

    This Sonata and this performance are so supreme that all of TH-cam could collapse in shambles around it, with only this performance left standing. Thank you, Charlotte, for bringing this performance into being! Best wishes from Canada.

      Thank you so very much! It makes me awfully happy to hear how you do appreciate my performance of this wonderful piece of music. And many thanks for your comment on the Beethoven sonata too!
      I’m always in search of repertoire that deserves to be played much more, while of course studying the great and famous works. I hope to hear from you again and send the best wishes from Germany!

    Ich bin froh, dass weniger bekannten Juwelen wie der Reubke Klaviersonate Beachtung geschenkt wird und dann noch mit einer so fantastischen Interpretation! Das allein hat für mich ein Abo verdient. :)

    I listened to your recording of this sonata again... I have to give it to you, this is amazing.
    Given the sheer technical demands of this sonata, there are few who can pull this off with such musicality and clear voicing ... Next to Till Fellner's, your interpretation is my favourite. Bravo!

    Reubke passed away so early, that should be a torment in music history(and to me). If he had lived long, we could have appreciated his works...it is my honor to listen to your performance when I came up with Reubke's Piano Sonata and I got sad again about that he passed away too earily..

    As always, the pianists who tackle this masterpiece display incredible height. As such, this sonata smacks of the 19th century and the links of emations aren't obvious. I think sticking to the partition would be a great light of pushing your already profound interpretation a step forward. Thanks for your work and attention to this répertoire!

    Sounds a lot like a Scriabin piano sonata but Reubke was long gone when Scriabin composed his piano sonatas. And it doesn't sound anything like Reubke's organ Sonata on the 94th Psalm.

    I hope this piece wasn’t mistakenly given to Julius Reubke by mistake instead of the rightful composer Franz Liszt

    • @charlottesteppes2460
      @charlottesteppes2460  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of course the influence of Reubkes teacher Franz Liszt is obvious in the sonata, but there's no doubt that it's a piece by Reubke. Liszt listened to it, played it several times himself and admired the work of his student a lot.

      @@charlottesteppes2460 it’s incredible how they were able to perform such technically demanding works. So you know, I’m a pianist too. With limited advancements back then and they were able to create such monumental works are supernatural and possibly guided by God Himself
