To be fair, if someone claims to have beaten a record, but rather than give you the video of them doing it they instead give the video to their friends and have their friends comment on it, that's gonna smell really fishy.
Dude, the transitions between topics were insanely smooth in this video! Also I never would have expected to see chess, language AND music covered in a single speedrunning video.
At first I was like "man, he's not even talking about people literally cooking their NES for speedruns, nothing can be "going too far" more than this". But no, the dude speedrunning his daughter life "birth to prodigy" definitively takes the cake...
Pushing down on a circuitboard to freeze an in-game timer is ridiculous Opening the tray and taking the game out I don't see as that big of a deal. Mostly because taking a disk out is something anyone can easily do, whereas modifying a second controller requires a bit more effort. Plus it doesn't actually save any time, it just manipulates the game timer to not count time spent waiting.
@@lt_johnmcclane its not even that's easy to tell, but its something that has no issues for runners. they dont require external or added components to do it. all they need is original hardware and the game.
Duolingo should've sponsored this or something lmao. That transition felt so smooth and I wasn't expecting Duolingo to be part of the topic of the video that I thought it was an ad for a good second.
I think the ejecting the disc one is fundamentally different to the other examples. Removing the disc from the console is intended and wont break anything.
Controversial opinion? While I believe crank that speed running is innovative. I genuinely believe the concept of the category mostly invalidates itself. It would be like calling how long it takes me to get ready in the morning a speed running event. There were multiple competitors I definitely have the fastest time though and hey if I sleep dressed for the day but go nowhere that might be a world record. 😅
12:32 That girl is impressive, but she's way too intense. She clickbaits for every upload, even looks like she forces her family to play, all in the name of fame.
14:44 how is that a draaw? Black is literally 2 moves from checkmate. Wait till the white king moves one square own and to the left of the pawn black king to f3 movie the pawn to h2 leave the black king on f3 either the white king moves left and you move the pawn down to the bottom and exchange for a queen, or the white king stays In the bottom right checkmate on white.
I appreciate seeing a video essay on speedrunning that isn't literally just Pokemon, LoZ, Mario, and whatever other usual suspects are ALWAYS talked about, especially if it's about TAS's. TAS's fascinate me, but some of the wackier ones like Sonic Heroes and Scribblenauts Unlimited go without fanfare.
not to be an assahole, I loved this video, but your statements about music being universal between cultures at the end are kinda inaccurate especially within context. Western music theory gets treated as this transcendent framework (thanks imperialism) but in reality its just what the vast majority are used to. Many cultures developed completely different harmonic systems and a lot of those systems were invalidated by elitist music theory twats. Frequency ratios that exist in other cultures are simply not represented in western harmonic theory and thats just a surface level example. This extends to nearly every part of music, with many other systems even relying on concepts that aren't recognized at all.
the straight up espionage to uncover the goldeneye strategy was amazing, people will go to crazy lengths to gatekeep glory for themselves alone

Yeah the open tray thing seems fine since it’s easy to tell what’s going on when someone is performing the glitch

Definitely didn't take me until Rubber started talking about EazySpeezy's DuoLingo run to realize it wasn't a sponsor segment, nope, not at all.
yeah he's clearly sponsored by soulja boy
This is an insanely clever concept to cover like this. I love your stuff, dude. Keep it up.
Judit Polgar has a LOT of impressive firsts. Underrated.
Over-rated
Yeah, that open tray trick seems quite necessary for Abyss with how fucking often you go back and forth between the same places. Frankly annoying.
That inclusion of KH3 OST at the chess portion, neuron activation goodness for my brain.
Duolingo should've sponsored this or something lmao. That transition felt so smooth and I wasn't expecting Duolingo to be part of the topic of the video that I thought it was an ad for a good second.
I appreciate how you started the video with Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes” and then immediately followed it up with the “anything-goes mentality” line.
I'm so happy someone noticed that lmao
thats a cute cat on your pfp
thats a cute cat on your pfp
Bobby Fischer, where is he? I don't know, I don't know. Bobby Fischer, where is he? I don't know, I don't know. Bobby Fischer!
The Tales Of The Abyss Jumpscare was so unexpected but made me so happy
Now I'm not watching anymore
@@pain_rain609 👍🏻
Those segues were incredible. Also the idea of a chess noob to gm speed run is hilarious.
unless the tech has potential to permanently harm hardware that's where i draw my line.
Yoooo new OtherRuns video, I love to see it! seriously though, the fact that speedrunners are using two controllers at once is pretty crazy
great video, the graph during the chess section is very well done!
Resetting for a chess youngest grand master world record has a *very* different meaning.
25:01 “soulja boy’s run” 😂😂😂
Great video again. Love the real life speed runs, crank that speed run up there with the best of them
This would've been such a smooth opportunity to have been sponsored by Duolingo my man.
I love these unorthodox speed runs!
this is the best speedrunning culture channel on youtube
Awesomely educational stuff as always. Keep doing what you like to do!
I love how you transitioned to chess without me even noticing
You have great potential!
18:05 Oh, I thought it was an ad and instinctively started skipping ahead
I just wanna say that the speedrunner that currently holds the second fastest record for clearing Battle for Bikini Bottom, rubbertoe64, is stinky.
Haha stinky
I've heard people say he's even a bit of a silly goose sometimes.
The link from duolingo to soulja boy is hilarious
0:32 Bet no one appreciated the joke here.
Awesome video man, learned a ton of interesting stuff that i did not expect to learn.
Nice touch using the mysims agents music, I love that game lol
Stryderx7 videos be like: “Ocarina of Time breaks Paper Mario”
I think the ejecting the disc one is fundamentally different to the other examples. Removing the disc from the console is intended and wont break anything.
This video is what TH-cam is all about
Popping the disc out is ingeniously simple
Is this a video about times that speed runners pushed the boundaries of speed running “rules” or is it a video about some odd speed runs?
Controversial opinion? While I believe crank that speed running is innovative. I genuinely believe the concept of the category mostly invalidates itself.

Amazing video, I hope it reaches more people
18:04 I thought this was going to be a sponsorship. Glad I didn't skip past because I don't want to join duolingo.
12:32 That girl is impressive, but she's way too intense. She clickbaits for every upload, even looks like she forces her family to play, all in the name of fame.
this channel is great
when's the real duolingo sponsor
Cool Vid, definitely can see a step up in the editing
this video is great

When you love a game so much you'd do anything to play it as little as possible
i like when rubber
Dude this was a great vid
lmao the Anna Cramlin section was pure bs
eliminate the goat
i wonder if this guy reads the comment section. hope he does i want him to know how much i like the videos.

Otg is ok, cooking the console is too expensive I think thats fair, no?
I'll never understand the term 'meteoric rise'. Like, meteors fall.

Get a pop filter. ❤
Speed running an rpg sounds stupid. Games like tales are supposed to be long grand adventures.
If you're learning the language in a you don't know the language run i feel like tahy invalidates the run

Speed running is just a pathetic thing for gamers to justify their pathetic lives.
Removing the disc during the game is cheating. Speedrunners essentially just modify (add and remove) game files as they want. This should be banned.
first
Almost right!
huh first
