    The narrator narrates with great gusto! He really loves football. Very American.

    Simple. 4 downs the first number is the down, the second is how many yards the offense needs to get to the down. And 1st and goal means its first down and goal line. A down turns into a goal when its 10 yards away from the goal line or endzone

    I been watching many tutorial videos and I still have no idea how American Football is played. Might need to watch the game on TV to get a real hang to it.

    4th down is the most important down in football in college or in the NFL. An offensive team who does not gain 10 yards after 4 downs surrenders possession of the ball to the other team, and the other team is said to have "gotten the ball on downs."
    However, if the offensive team realizes that after 3 downs they cannot gain 10 yards at all, and they have to punt on 4th down, it is keenly said that the offensive team had suffered the "three and out."
    Finally, if the offensive team decides to risk losing the possession of the ball after an unsuccessful 4th down when it is possible to gain the needed 10 yards on a 4th and short, and decides to do a pass play or run play instead of a field goal or punt, the team is said to have "gone for it", - also known as "to go for it"- with the "it" being the so-needed 1st down.

    I have to use these videos to explain football to my foreign friends, Because they’re super well organized instead of me jumping from point to point.

    2:41 technically they have 3 left as if the board shows 2 then it means the 2nd down hasn’t taken place yet

    @7:16, there are 4 possibilities - #4 Punt/Kick can be done on any down, forfeiting the rest of the downs

    How can the yard number be over 10 when you only need 10 yards to get a fresh set of downs?? Can someone please explain

    • @edominguez6675
      @edominguez6675 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since the quarterback is behind the line of scrimmage, he can be sacked/tackled behind the line of scrimmage if he doesn't get to pass the ball before he got tackled he then gets tackled behind the line of scrimmage and loses yards. Also, if a runningback doesn't get past the line of scrimmage and gets tackled before, the team can lose yards. It depends on where the person with the ball gets tackled. Loss of yards is usually due to not being able to pass the ball fast enough or the running back getting tackled.

    What does it mean if a player sits down on one knee and puts the ball on the ground after cathing it after a punt? How does that work? And how can they get a time out?

    • @ZeroGravityLife
      @ZeroGravityLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      A punt returner who takes a knee after catching the ball is signaling his intent not to try to run and return the ball. This can only be done when the ball is caught in the end zone and once he takes a knee, he cannot be touched by the kicking team. If the player takes a knee in the end zone, the ball is spotted on the return team's 20 yard line to begin thier series of play.

    How come on the screen indicator in a real game, you will often see the yardage needed to be gained in certain downs equating to more than 10 yards?
    for example: 2nd and 12??

    • @mariangely9546
      @mariangely9546 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Because sometimes the ball is run backward (which adds yards) or there may be a penalty that adds yardage

    what happens when the team punts and after the ball touches the grass the same team recovers the ball before it goes to the end zone?

    • @bvbxiong5791
      @bvbxiong5791 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      when the offense punts on 4th down, they are "giving up the ball". a "punt" is always a surrender of the ball. even if the same teams touches the ball, they do not get the ball back. when the same team touches the ball, that spot is where the other team gets the ball.

  • @zaeemhasham8753

    Can you explain about when passing the ball and it drops

    • @ZeroGravityLife
      @ZeroGravityLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If the receiver didn't have "possession", meaning he didnt take at least two steps with the ball before he drops it, then it's an incomplete pass. The play is incomplete and the offense loses one down.
