Looking at the different positions in football, both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Also some introduction of what '4-3' and '3-4' defenses are.

Having watched both, I like this one a lot better. It doesn't have forced jokes.
This is great but why the hell do I hear crickets in the background
Haha, my window was open when I recorded this one. I usually try to eliminate the background noise now.
TheOnDeckCircle I like the crickets in the background. :)

I live in England, how can I get into football and NFL?
***** would if i could.
+BatFanPlays Watching games on TV (if you can) or video games always helped me learn a new sport.
+BatFanPlays Hey I'm from Germany. Two years ago i watched my first games of football starting with the NFC/AFC Championship and the following Superbowl in free tv and I got into it. In the offseason i informed myself about this sport, so I buyed the NFL gamepass for the next season, which imo is the best way for us europeans to watch the games. In Germany only 2 PayTV Channels are showing only few games a week. Due to contracts with the NFL they must show the matches live and must not rebroadcast them, resulting to the fact that the games are broadcasted in the middle of the night. With the gamepass I can make sure not to miss any games I am interested in and I can watch them on demand whenever I want.
yeah ive been watching some college football recently

Flag!
Illegal formation. Offense. Fewer than 7 player on the line of scrimmage. 5 yard penalty, repeat 1st down.
j4k154 the receivers are usually on the lime
Yes. The five offensive lineman are also called the interior line. The side with the tightend is called the strong side.
In a 4/3 defense the middle backer is called the Mike. The backer across from the tightend is call the Sam. And the backer without a opposite tightend is called the Will.
The Strong Safety is opposite the Tightend. The Weak or Free Safety opposite the strong side.
The defense can line up anyway the want except offside or crossing the line of scrimmage before the ball is snap.
Filippo Fittipaldi my school Calls them stud and strong safety rover
Thank you for making these videos, I used to competitively play Euro football and still watch it, but always appreciated the complexity of American football, its like a game of chess played with a 52 card deck.
Thanks for the clear explanations. I've just become a football (well, Patriots) fan at 79 with this last Super Bowl Game (I was a tap dancer as a kid and football players were kind of the natural enemy). The way you describe the game and its rules makes it all much less overwhelming than I thought they would be. Now I can appreciate a little more than just whether the guy the quarterback throws the ball at catches it or not.
Thank you dude I’ve been thinking of joining my schools team and I didn’t know much about football but this has really helped
y’all got a crush on a football player huh , ye me too

Glad you liked it, more on football to come soon!
I'm 14, Very fast, Huge hands, Average strength, Good vision, Quick reactions and Great endurance. Also I'm 135 pounds. Where should I play?
Bench
or bench but if you had to play get some sugar in you and have fun as a wide receiver
Wide receiver
goalkeeper because u have big hands so easy to catch with..you have good vision and fast reflexes so can see the ball coming and you have good endurence so you can get up fast and keep going
+Sean Smeaton they are talking about american football
I just joined a women football team and this was a really good visual as you explained the positions and their roles.
do the linebackers and defensive line players have there own position names like the offensive line?
e before the i - receiver
but thanks for explanation, well done.
Yeah, my tight end needs to take a step forward. I do get into an explanation for formations in the "Pre-snap Requirements" video.
Good teaching....Thanks !
30 years old and I just had my first football practice. It was awesome and I can't wait for the next. Hoping to tackle some poor guys, knock 'em down.
You mixed up strong safety and free safety here too. Just sayin'
Scrimmage is spelled with two m's but thanks for this awesome video, my man!

Thanks! I'm Swedish and this isn't popular here. But since it's the Super Bowl tonight I figured it will be good to learn :)

My P.E. class is doing a football unit and I was so confused, and now i get it, so thank you
Zai Passion i mean if it was P.E. i don't think they should get that into depth into the game unless it's for the school team, it's just P.E. they shouldn't be making you learn this yet
I’m the first female to ever wanna play football for our school so I’m just making sure I know everything I need to
Thanks for the help I'm playing 8th grade football this year and the last time I played football was flag and I never really understood the positions

this kind of got me to understand because my mom is making me join a sport in middle school and i wanted to join football because people say i would be good for football because in a big guy , but i kind of know how to play and stuff but i just need to know how to properly play and how it works .... but great information and i just need to remember them so i dont look like a fool
I’ve played this game all my life, but I’m just so interested in seeing how others perceive and explain it :)

I dont understand football and my coaches always scream at me for nothing I hate it
M_To_The_B football is a sport that turns boys into men. Teaches, trust, teamwork, and most of all, taking accountability. Best believe if a coach is screaming at you, your teammates will be in a game time scenario if you miss your assignment. That’s all it is man, don’t take anything a coach says as negative, or to heart, they only wanna make you better and improve you. The games 90% mental and 10% physical, so keep gaining knowledge and work hard on and off the field. You’ll learn to love the game and find out it’s what will make or break you
thanx bro i am a soccer fan but have been getting into football so this is helpfull for us noobs
The strong safety is always on the same side of the field as the tight end (if there are two tight ends then it doesnt matter)
What position should I play if I’m 5’9 and 155 lbs?
Wtf i thought this was for soccer 🤦🏽♂️😂
That’s funny

Your coach would probably teach you if you don't know. Are you trying to sign up for junior varsity football or something?

Thank You, I've never played football and I'm going to play my freshman year. I'm in 8th right now.
Cody Willimon Jr. hey, same here. How did it go?
You're in 11th grande now
TheD4rkReaper Playing football over the course of my highschool years so far has been awesome! I absolutely fell in love with it the moment I was able to play. It taught me self confidence, patience, teamwork, and I learned more about myself. Sure, it’s scary as hell, but it’s definitely worth the experience and growth for you and your teammates. You will create a bond on and off the field because of this sport. I don’t mean to over exaggerate what it is, but I love it. It’s my favorite thing. It has helped me in so many ways. I start in football now, I’m a middle linebacker on defense and running-back on offense. I didn’t know exactly what I was doing when I started but if you have a great mindset and a great coach, you too will learn to be a great player and teammate. I wish the best of luck to you!
mistadude Yeah I am lmao, it’s been quite a trip, years went by fast.

I'm 12 years old, I'm going to play High School Bantam next year. I'm 5'0, 88 pounds, and I'm pretty fast. I usually play Wide Receiver, but I can play Quarterback. On defence I play Cornerback or Outside Linebacker, which position should I really play?

Your Coach will chose your Postition
oh wait... thats why i dont understand shit... its the handfootball
You could just say gridiron football or american football. Don't be making up terms ok.
Yes, good point, I did leave out the kicker. The kicker is not on the field most of the time because he is a special teams player, not on offense or defense. The next few videos are on kickoffs, they talk about what the kicker does.
I'm 13, 5'7 135 pounds and I'm the fastest in Saskatchewan, should I be a halfback or a fullback??
At that age you're probably going to be a running back if that's your size. But if you're not done growing you could grow into a bigger position later on.
Who says your the fastest in Saskatchewan
considering that there is about 10 people in all of Saskatchewan, it's not that amazing
Play hockey or CFL. Dont play real football
Who else already know all of the positions, but they got bored and watched anyway
Me
Thank you so much! As a Brit trying to get into NFL this was really helpful!
Since they are behind all of the other players on defense, safeties are the last line of defense to stop offensive players from gaining any more yards. They are typically really fast.
Thanks... good job! Very simple and easy to catch!
Tip: watch this on x1.5 speed.
Thank me later
That's part of the reason I started remaking many of these; link in the description to the newer version that I talk faster in!
That graphic of the O's is wrong, you have to have at least 7 offensive players on the line of scrimmage. That means 2 out of the 2 wide receivers and tight end have to be lined up on the line of scrimmage. Then the only offensive players on the line of scrimmage that're eligible receivers are the Ends. You can have more then 1 eligible receiver on each side of the field but other then the Ends everyone has to line up a few feet and those are called slot receivers.
Joe McKim it depends on what layout the coach uses
His diagram is confusing to a beginner, but if you had actual bodies there, the red circles on the ends MIGHT have their heads breaking the plane of the snapper's waist, so they might have the required 7 on the line. But if that's the case, then the red circle on the far right, if all the circles represent bodies the same way, would be in an illegal position, not being clearly on the line or in the backfield, because the closest OL, the end on that side, was cheated back far enough to overlap that flanker "vertically". It's sure not the way to teach newcomers!
thanks alot
What if the quarterback doesn’t want to hand to the running backs? What do the running backs do then?
Either block or go out for a pass
Quarterback calls the play in the huddle and every one will know what to do so running backs know if there going for a hand off or doing something else just judging from the play called in huddle
Can you do a six man version of this
spelled scrimmage wrong
I sure did. Over 60,000 views and you're the first one to notice that.
TheOnDeckCircle Many noticed, few bothered to point out such an indifference thing. Also, "receiver".
Lol Receiver too and not Reciever
Who cares of he spelled it wrong. Great video
Who else here’s all the crickets😭
This is not football... This is handoval... You are confusing! Change the title of the video please!
It's known in most places as American Football, or just Football.
What the hell is handoval
Sappy07 In my country we call it FOOTBALL
Bob Renalds Your country is not logical. This is a game played with you hand the the ball is not a 'ball'
Your country must be from a different dimension, cause on earth this is the norm. :)
TheOnDeckCircle Please specify as most places in 'the United states of America'
Cause everywhere else in the world, its just American football... football is wayyy different.
Thanks I'm looking forward to doing football next year, this helped
I'm 5'10 200 pounds and have really good stamina and pretty fast I guess, also I can hit really good and I can catch really good! What position should I play on offense?
AquaticPath12 tight end because you’ve got a good size and you can also go for the ball
Young N1gga3 yeah I agree but the only thing is that my team don't have many big guys to play on the line so I'll probably be a regular lineman but when I get to high school I will probably play tight end
And now I finally understand football positions! Thank you so much!
Thanks for the vid
Yes, they can pretty much stand or run anywhere they want to as long as they stay on their side of the line of scrimmage.
Your videos have really helped me to learn more about football. I'm a new football fan and trying by all means to understand the game and especially don't make a fool of myself during matches. Lol, thank you very much.
It looks like you made this a while ago but thank you for doing it. We have season passes to my alma mater and now I can start learning stuff and stop bugging everybody around me. But I can tell them all the rules about roller derby
So I’m a girl and I just joined the football team but I’m so confused as of everything lmao. My position is outside linebacker.
tackle? if so, there might be alot of running plays or short routes so playing outside linebacker might require good stamina because you'll be required to get RB and take receivers that come inside on short routes and always be aware of the offense, if you can do that you'll be able to make smart tackles, get picks, and even sacks if you can get in the backfield
@@jonathanmitchell3545 my comment sound stupid lemme delete that

Hello, I’m thinking of either playing free safety or cornerback on high school next year. I’m around 5 foot 4, 110 pounds and I think I’m pretty fast and agile. Which position would you guys recommend me playing. And which position doesn’t really need to tackle that much and is overall an easier position to play.
I've been playing football for 3yrs and I still get confused. I'm bad at any position, and I feel like a failure to the team. This video helped me so freaking much. Thank you
