Yesterday I watched Sweden play Italy in the European final (Sweden lost, unfortunaly) and although I didn't understand the game perfectly I still had a blast. I will definitely watch more American football in the future and this video did a great job explaining it more in depth for me :)

That line is just a television graphic, it’s not actually on the filed. The yellow line shows the viewers at home the distance that is required to get a “first down”

The “sudden death” OT in NFL was eliminated… OT rules are now, the first team who score a touchdown wins the game…. if the first team who has possession of the ball and only scores a field goal, the other team has the opportunity to try to score a touchdown… If both teams did not score a field goal on their first attempt, any team who has the ball possession can now win the OT by scoring a Field goal…

Missed Details: - The quarterback can run the ball by himself without a handoff to the running back. - If it is 4th down the offense (punting team) can give the ball to the defense (returning team) by punting the ball (dropping the ball onto your foot while kicking) down the field which makes it harder for the defense to gain yards once the play ends. If the ball hits the ground after being kicked it can still be picked up. - During a punt, if the punting team gets a hold of the ball (which is rare), it is still given to the returning team and the line of scrimmage is placed at the location of the ball before it was taken. - During a punt, if a player on the punting team catches the ball after it bounces off of a player on the returning team, the punting team now has possession of the ball. - Penalties are given to teams whenever they commit a foul (violate a rule). An example of a penalty is the line of scrimmage being pushed back a few yards because the quarterback moves before saying hike.

After safety they would start from kick off. If they are within 4 chances and safety occurs then also they would do kick off. Does that answer your question?

The runningback can run anywhere…. in runing plays, it is the offensive line job to create a hole for the running back to run through… in passing play, the running back can also block to protect the quarterback or become a reciever… the role of the running back depends on what type of playcall the Head Coach or Offensive Coordinator wants to do…

yeah the ball can be snapped back to anyone in the backfield. as for passing, you only get to make 1 forward pass from behind the line. almost always you'd usually just want to snap the ball straight back to someone who will immediately pass it forward. so that guy is the quarterback. on the other hand, backwards passes are always allowed.
Not exactly..The QB can lateral pass the ball (meaning, passing the ball behind the line of scrimmage) to a any receiving corp, and the reciever can “pass” the football to another reciever who is running a route…. The passing reciever must do it behind the line of scrimmage… if he pass the ball beyond the line of scrimmage, it is a foul and a loss of down…. This is usually considered a trick play…

They start from 10 for 1st down. When they start the play it's possible that ball was behind the starting line when play ended so in that case they will start from the place where play ended (which is behind the starting point) hence now they need to move more than 10 yards, does that make sense?

Is it called 2nd and 3rd because it is their 2nd attempt to go over the 10 yard line but they only need to go over 3 yards because of the 1st play? Thank you to anyone who answers 🙂
That is correct. 2nd attempt and 3 yards to go. If on the 2nd attempt, let’s say the team on offense gets pushed back 10 yards by the defense, then the next play would be 3rd and 13 (so you’re in a worse position than you had originally started).
Once offense team score a goal (goal or touchdown). Offense team kicks the ball off to the opposing team, just like how game starts. Does that answer your question?

We all start at some point and have questions, that the intention of this channel to help beginners get introduced to the beautiful sports. Line of scrimmage is determined by the point at which: 1. Offensive player who has the ball felt done on the ground. (They will look at the tip of the ball to decide the line. 2. If offensive player ran out of field, then the point at which he ran that would be the new line (Again they would look at the ball, so player would extend their hands and get few more inches) Does that answer?

I have seen soccer game in San Siro and atmosphere was insane! I have also seen American football in US and atmosphere was pretty insane as well!

I was watching an nfl game and i see 3rd & 11, 3rd & 12. My question is why is it over 10 when the objective is to get it to every 10 yards?
They start from 10 for 1st down. When they start the play it's possible that ball was behind the starting line when play ended so in that case they will start from the place where play ended (which is behind the starting point) hence now they need to move more than 10 yards, does that make sense?

Is it called 2nd and 3rd because it is their 2nd attempt to go over the 10 yard line but they only need to go over 3 yards because of the 1st play? Thank you to anyone who answers 🙂
That is correct. 2nd attempt and 3 yards to go. If on the 2nd attempt, let’s say the team on offense gets pushed back 10 yards by the defense, then the next play would be 3rd and 13 (so you’re in a worse position than you had originally started).

What happens when offense team score a goal, are they still offense, or there is swap between off and def?
Once offense team score a goal (goal or touchdown). Offense team kicks the ball off to the opposing team, just like how game starts.

No problem at all! We all start at some point and have questions, that the intention of this channel to help beginners get introduced to the beautiful sports.
Line of scrimmage is determined by the point at which:
1. Offensive player who has the ball felt done on the ground. (They will look at the tip of the ball to decide the line.
2. If offensive player ran out of field, then the point at which he ran that would be the new line (Again they would look at the ball, so player would extend their hands and get few more inches)
