Not really, it’s been building up for many decades. The end of this age is coming to an end as expected. Read your Bible and you’ll see that this is all printed in black white and red. An expected end. You’ll see that everything happening here has happened to every civilization for thousands of years that turns its back on God. The covenant has been broken and Gods protection and provision has been taken away. It’s only going to get worse.

As a 40 year resident of San Jose, I witnessed the promises of former mayors, city councilman and county supervisors pontificate how bicycle lanes, granite pave-stones, reduced parking and light rail will transform and revitalize San Jose's urban core. None of their statements hold true. The politicians do not understand how to run businesses and wasted $millions of tax-payer revenue, to redevelop downtown over the last decades. I used go downtown for dinner and entertainment. But now the streets are constricted, only two lanes where there used to be four. Parking is not available as the city squeezed housing into areas that previously had parking to allow small businesses to operate. The area of Julian and N. 2nd street is difficult to access, with one-way streets and no turns allowed.
I have witnessed the parking police ticket a merchant delivering a wedding cake on a Saturday. The delivery truck only stopped for a minute in a handicapped zone on N. Third St. There was no other place for the delivery van to stop. The streets are a maze of obstacles making it impossible to visit, find a parking space and go dinning. The city leaders have ignored the advice of traffic engineers and street planners.
The city almost landed a deal with Nividia, to move that company to downtown SJ. They lost it when the greedy politicians demanded concessions from the company to move downtown. They also spent $millions to buy up land for a major league ballpark and failed. Now they want to bring BART to downtown, rapid transit to a place where there are no jobs. The light rail is very slow and inefficient, snaking through downtown and takes longer than driving 101 to arrive at destinations to the north. Politically connected families have lobbied to spend tax dollars to enhance the downtown area, helping boost their family owned real-estate property values. Downtown San Jose is an urban planning nightmare and failure. It can only get worse with the badly educated urban planning socialists running the government.

    1. The reason why many of stores were closed in the first part of the video, is because they were kicking out businesses in order to build the underground BART subway. They said they needed 2 city blocks emptied and cleared for construction and tunneling.
    2. Chachos, Social Lady, Cinnabar, and one other restaurant had to close due to a fire on the 2nd floor.
    3. Some of the buildings for lease have rents which are too high, and the property owners are unable to go lower.
    4. The building with the eyeballs had hazardous waste issues.
    5. The Johnny Rockets building was kicking businesses out, not sure why.
The 5 downtown zones which are active are:
    - San Pedro Square Food Court
    - South 1st Street Clubs
    - San Jose State University
    - Post Street Bars
    - and City Hall
If you want to see a thousand people downtown, go back to South 1st Street after midnight, on Friday night or Saturday night when the businesses open up after dark. People there often do not come out to party until the weekends, after work.

And even sadder is how so many people in the bay treat their neighborhoods and the environment like total shit. Dumping fast food bags on sidewalks, spare tires left against the curbs, etc, etc I’ve never seen such filth elsewhere in my life. I dare say most of even NYC is cleaner than the bay. Like you said, go outside the bay and it’s clean as a whistle, friendly and courteous people who would give you the shirt off of their back. It's pretty vibrant up here, though like most places, times aren't as good as they once were. Finding an affordable house is tough unless you're willing to invest alot in renovations. I worked for a tech startup in the late 90's and would have to walk several blocks from a parking garage to the office. There were (working) people everywhere, and the restaurants were bustling every day at lunch. This is all the result of poor leadership, made more acute by cowardly "leaders" (and unelected bureaucrats) who thought it would be wise to shutdown entire economies for a pandemic. You know how there's rumors that developers wanted the prized land in Maui, and they knew that the people would not sell, so they needed a Event to change their mind. So now we see something similar on a larger scale in SF Bay, downtown gutted by crimes & one can't help but wonder if there's a organized engineered effort to drive property values way down and then some developers will buy it for cheap. I would not be shocked if some whistleblower came forward from a architecture office with actual proof of building plans of areas like Maui & SF, where they knew ahead of time what to build & where. Some say it is WEF doing their 15 minutes Smart Cities which are a nice way of saying concentration camp.

Well they can't set the whole Bay Area on fire, that would be too suspicious. So they do that thing in Robocop, flood the area with crime and drugs, the people that can afford to just move out, and the politicians are in on it, getting kickbacks as the city rots. Then the developers buy it for cheap, flip it, and make a huge profit! You see lots of videos of lootings in SF, and the politicians aren't really serious about stopping it for the last few years. This is no accident.@@twasbrillig33

Even 10 years ago when I moved to the bay area SJ downtown was pretty rough - only really busy in the evenings around the bars, but during the daytime even then it was a bit of a ghost town apart from the druggies around the park near the center and foot traffic heading for the tech museum or conference center - never felt safe to park there either. Campbell, Willow Glen or Los Gatos are nicer places to hang out. Google was supposed to be doing some major investment with offices in the downtown - not sure what happened to those plans.

The first major city I went to on my first own vacation (aka solo and not family oriented) was San Jose. I remembered how nice and comfortable it was to go into the downtown area either on foot or even on an escooter (also same vacation where I visited SF for the 2nd time in my life, first time on my own and had a blast visiting all over). This was back in 2018. Now, on a recent drive by during early evening hours on the way to national forests a month or two ago, SF was a dead town. Streets were somewhat busy with commuters but noticeable dip in activity and opened stores, and large pockets of homeless. I still recall when they gutted the lower end of South First & Market streets many years ago, well before Gonzales' time, and every business there had to close for the re-dev and rail projects. And for what? Leo's video shows the entirely predictable results.

How sad! I spent many years in San Jose before this happened. It was once a beautiful thriving city.

Yes, I agree with you. My late husband used to live in San Jose during his childhood years. He used to say San Jose was a beautiful, thriving city with good schools.

Santa Clara county, where San Jose is located, had some of the most severe and long-lasting lockdown protocols in the state. It seemed like every time the rest of California relaxed a given restriction, there was our county, holding on to it. The effect on people’s livelihoods was devastating. Always we were told this was “out of an abundance of caution.” Someone should’ve reminded our chief health officer, Sara Cody, that although caution can be bought, the price is not zero. All this destruction for a failed attempt to suppress a mild disease.

1 Million people is not a mild disease. In fact people are still dying but it longer gets reported on because the vaccines have curbed the effects to a manageable level. I guess you didn’t lose anyone close to you like my friends did but maybe next time, eh?

I hear you, and all this is sad. What happened to the courts, the police, the jails, the rehabs and mental institutions? But... Covid killed over one million Americans. It wasn't mild.

It's not over, covid was just an experiment created by the communist there will be more health threats one of the reasons they want to destroy our economy, devalue our currency and nullify our social security which the Biden administration has already spent on themselves

Thank you for doing downtown San Jose. It's always been sort of a dog, except down by San Pedro, the 88 apartments, etc., but mostly a dog. It is SHOCKING that even down there where it used to bustle, every shop was full, it is empty. All of the courts are down farther on St. James etc. and those shops you were showing us were always busy, always. San Jose all of the zip codes are arguably some of the most affluent in the United States and even Santana Row on Winchester has empty stores. Thanks for showing us, great job! : o)

Thank you for the support ,everyone in the comments from the previous video was recommending to go to San Jose. That’s why I had to take the trip and they were right about the closed stores.

There was always someone that would lease an empty store and I would think they were crazy. And that was when business was good. Now, I don’t think anyone will ever lease those store fronts. There’s only so long the banks can hide loans they are not being paid on. I’m not sure how bad things will get but it is not looking good. Great job on the video, I wouldn’t walk around that place.

I was looking on Yelp and it looks like the San Jose Downtown Food Hall is open but not very good. I worked in downtown off an on over the decades since the 90s. Some years were better. But it's definitely worse now thanks to crime and poor governance. I think Zanotto's was in the place next to the Improv with the butterflies. I kept waiting for you to go past the Walgreens that surprisingly is still open. But it's pretty funky.

In about 1972, I would walk two or three times a week from the train station in SJ to the University there... through the downtown area. I do not now actually recall the story of what caused it, but the downtown then had the same sort of bombed-out look as in this video. It later became very much revitalized, thanks to the Silicon-Valley element.

I saw a light-rail train go by in the very first part of your video, on a cross street in the distance. Years after my forays into San Jose in the 1970s, I became the noise and air quality consultant for that light rail line's construction. In the course of that work I had to walk the alignment, downtown and eastward for some distance I had to go into certain stores and businesses because from the street I could see that some of them had little residential units built in, as on the second story. It's an old-school form of urban design that municipal planners periodically try to bring back. That is, I had to go in to talk to the owners to confirm that what I thought was a residential unit actually was one... because I would have to deal with that in my report of noise impacts. It was so delightful to meet those people. They had vibrant, upbeat spirits. And they came from every type of background.@@LeoMetalTraveler
