The producers usually would set up obstacles anyway, and as far as he knew he was supposed to stay in the background. So I think I remember him saying that he thought it was just another thing they set up for the sake of the show until he found out that wasn't the case and the owner just went rogue.

I enjoyed watching Adam in that show so much, but I am glad that he moved on. He has talked about what that show did to him. One thing that sticks out is him saying he ran stairs for 2 hours one day as just one of his workouts. And that was to maintain his heavy physique. He hated it. I think he only ate once a day too.

Food challenges are dangerous, even for “trained” competitive eaters. Lot of shady restaurants out there that sabotage contests to try and stop competitors from winning. I’ve watched several of the popular ones on here and they get played a lot. That Steak challenge in Puerto Rico looked SO delicious, and I knew there was no way he could finish it. I could eat about 1/10 of that. He did well.

Richard should’ve filed a lawsuit against the restaurant for almost killing him as well as criminal charges. What the owner and cooks did was just evil and just because he signed a piece of paper doesn’t automatically give the owners an out and can be tried in court as being illegal.
Dairy especially a milk shake challenge is really tough as are oysters. But oyster milkshakes are the hardest food challenge

That’s incredible that the Wing challenge was tampered with like that. So cruel and dangerous. I had a guy put out ghost pepper peanuts but hid the label. I thought I was going to knock him off his chair. So brutal.
Food challenges are dangerous, even for “trained” competitive eaters. Lot of shady restaurants out there that sabotage contests to try and stop competitors from winning. I’ve watched several of the popular ones on here and they get played a lot. No way I would eat at a restaurant that had food eating contests because you know that’s their way of bringing people in, not the quality of the food.
Eating too much extremely spicy food like that can cause serious damage to your body. Also, water makes spicy foods worse.
Reminds me of the barium swallow i had to do at the hospital its like a really thick milk shake thats like cement to swallow
