- GullYY here. This was a big mistake. I did not realize what I was getting myself into here. Were some of these game winnable if I played better? Oh absolutely. But I didn't. So here we are. While some of the games were winnable, some of these also felt like downright spawn losses. Lakes has the potential to be one of the coolest map types, but unfortunately the terrain generation often ends up screwing someone over. This combined with the fact that I'm playing Xin-Xi, a tribe definitely not built for lakes, makes for an interesting experience. I hope you find joy from my suffering.

I like xin xi honestly, they're not good but they have decent mid game
It’s a very difficult tribe to handle, as Oumaji is more of an aggressive expansion, Xin-Xi is more of a defensive investor! I’ll say I gotten way better training with this tribe due to having to chose the needed tech rather than the effective tech, like defenders with mountains shut down everything but you almost immediately need riders if your opponent stops training even 2 less units than last turn
Game 1: GullYY quit because he sucks at Polytopia
Game 2: GullYY quit because he sucks at using bridges
Game 3: GullYY quit because his cities just weren't good
Game 4: GullYY quit because he sucks at fighting giants
Game 5: GullYY quit because Zebasi had too many rafts
Game 6: GullYY quit because the map made him
Game 7: GullYY won, but at what cost

@@varenbob Looking at the length of an average 900 game against bots, as long as he doesn't die within 10-15 turns on most of his games, it's safe to say it *could go over 100 hours*

It's so much more fun, for me at least, to watch not just the successes but the fails, too, and I often find myself wanting to just watch a bunch of games in a row

Your misery makes me feel better. Some times its just one bad spawn after another.
Had this with Elyron - one crap spawn after another - lost 3 games in a row.
I've noted the smaller the map the more luck involved.

All it took is one massive mining spot and Bardur having to either take climbing or fishing to explore
I kinda like xin-xi, for me they're very satisfying to play as.
Also, GullYY, why did you stop using your webcam in videos? Or you'll still be using it, just in videos with other topics, not 1v1s?
I just wanted to expirament with the web cam and see how it felt. I'll probably bring it back for some future topics

Despite what Mijiwan says, as an Asian, with Korean translations saying it’s pronounced Shin Shi, I say that’s the correct pronunciation
That's funny the Japanese translation also uses Shin Shi.
It's very clearly based on China and in pinyin, the way Chinese is written in Roman letters, the 'x' makes a 'sh' sound. You can see it in the name of president Xi Jinping, the current leader of China. If midjiwan wanted it to be pronounced Chin Chi they should've used 'q' or 'ch' instead.

I’ll be honest Gullyy, I actually find Xin-Xi one of the more weaker tribes due to the fact of how bad their terrain is. I may have a biased opinon, but my spawns as Xin-do are not even as good as a spawns of Vengir’s…
There's a reason I call xin-xi the lottery tribe. You need to get lucky to win with them :P. Playing on normal lakes is insult to injury, as that map has a ton of imbalanced spawns.

wow literally all 6 starts where unwinnable it made me cry. ddn't help that everyone was playing the sweatiest tribes of all time. but the last game was so satisfying too see and the map generation was so interesting.

Typically good to walk onto a mountain first turn IMO.
Spawn RNG deltas are the worst issue in game right now, ahead of any meta or tribe imbalance IMO

I mean, Xin Xi isn’t really the best tribe, even for a free tribe, Bardur, Oumaji and Imperius is definitely the best to try out.
Shows that the map generator needs really an upgrade- such unbalanced situations should not happen

You can see that the name of the city is underlined, which indicates that that's their capital

Lakes is definitely tied with archipelago for my least favorite map type. For some reason the terrain generation always seems to hate me. :(

I finally have more elo then gullyy. All it took was for him to loose 200 points from playing xin xi and for me to gain 30p from playing post buff zebasi and cymanti

Dry land Xinxi is doable…… lake Xinxi needs luck. Dry land Vengir is hell, but lake Vengir is actually decent if you play your defense

You need to have at least one paid tribe, other than that I don't really know
