The worst thing about an assignment is starting it. The best thing you can do as procrastinator is do the first 5% of your assignment really early, have the introduction, heading and a rough plan down, and it doesn't matter if it is not good enough, you just need to have started something. This will make things much easier, trust me.

You know even though it's sad that we procrastinate so frequently, theres this euphoric feeling of finishing right before the deadline and closing all your tabs. I remeber for my english final I submit 20 seconds before 11:59. Oh man the adrenaline combined with the triumph was unmatched (along with my heart rate)
yes! there's something so addictive about that feeling! and the fact that we still make the deadline despite what everyone thought is part of exactly why we do it again!

I’m so happy someone has found humor in this because I was deeply sad and even though I didn’t write my essay that’s due today and will fail my English class, I do have a brighter outlook and I really need to look at my mistakes as to how this happened. Thank you for lifting my spirits 😊

It is due this morning however, I actually have a essay to turn in versus last semester haha xD Watching this video now makes me a little nostalgic thinking how depressed I was last semester haha. I hate essays and assignments where I can write about whatever I want to choose. I get paralized by all the possibilities i have and also by fear of choosing the wrong topic somehow :(
my biggest advice is to write 5 things about the module or degree that you find really interesting and then cross those out until you have 1! Then find out what exactly about that interests you and use that to find a question! but yes being given too much freedom is stressful !!!

i literally have not 1 but 2 assignments to do, and i only have 3 days.. my classmates have been working on them for weeks.. 🙃
don't panic! get started asap and make small deadlines to hit for every couple hours of work you do - i would send them to my mum like i was trying to write 300w in an hour and at the end of the hour if i hadn't sent her something she would push me to work harder! don't worry about producing something amazing just get your points down even if the work looks like you've stuck a load of bullet points together and then when the deadline comes you have something to hand in. Then if you still have time you can go back in and improve the work by making it flow better, adding extra reasoning or evidence when required. Don't try to get it perfect first time because you will get a better grade for a badly put together but complete assignment than you will for an excellent introduction and nothing else. Good luck!!

Apparently procrastination is not just laziness or indiscipline.
It's a maladjusted behaviour.
Could be related to anxiety, depression or ADD.
If this is a regular problem, see a mental health professional.
I'm seeing one because I've become incapable of doing my PhD work. Like even reading makes me cry.
Still doing really bad with writing articles and papers but PhD work seems impossible.
If academia is your future then don't keep doing this. I started out being the person who had her homework and assignments done well before submission to finishing a day or two before the deadline to finishing my master's thesis a few hours before the deadline.
It creeps up on you.

@@taylorskrrrt huh... ironically I think I have ADHD. I told my psychologist the same because I kept identifying with people, particularly women, online who got diagnosed with ADHD as adults. And the trajectory of my behaviour is eerily similar to other people in academia who got an ADHD diagnosis during higher education.

Dear Taylor, I am in the same position as you were rn for my 3000 words English essay and it is due tomorrow at noon. I have a day and a half to complete it, so I feel a bit of relief but I am also pretty scared about the amount of work I need to do. preparing yourself to realise ahaha love that! You've got this! Go to a study session with a friend or family member or something to keep you accountable and try to tick one thing off the list. Not necessarily a whole assignment but something. For example, break down your 7 assignments into to do lists and tick one thing off of there (like read the task outline) and then do another small tick and the next thing you know you're making a little progress towards a big goal! Do a little bit everyday and if you miss a day do double tomorrow. Then when one assignment is done give it a huge tick and that's serotonin baby. You've got this!
@@taylorskrrrt Thank you, I've since gotten my first assignment done but my second assignment is really making me shriek internally with how hard it is to understand, not to mention I get extremely distracted
@@ZerodragYT well done for getting the first one done! Is there any way you can speak to a teacher/tutor or someone in your class to help explain what you’re struggling with? I find often talking about my assignment and what I want to say often reveals that I understand more than I thought I did and that I have a lot of ideas (make sure you record this convo - with permission of course - or write down your points straight after)
@@taylorskrrrt I normally email my lecturers for help and feedback in case i'm really struggling with an essay or if something is wrong with a near finalised draft.
I do feel like i need to explain it a lot more to them just in case i'm on the right track. Also currently dont have anyone in my class to talk to atm, i'm stuck repeating the remainder of the semester because of financial issues. However now that you mention it I feel like reaching out to at least one person and talk about those specific assignments.

None of these types of videos tell you how they got on after the event. I'm so slow at writing essays and it literally takes me hours to do even the introduction.

@@Dirtyvinyl23 no worries! for this assignment I received a 64 as my grade which is a 2:1 and that's pretty good but not amazing so a B or C ish grade equivalent. I have done all nighters for about 90% of my assignments for my degree and they've all turned out alright! I just work well under pressure. I did another allnighter video on my channel if you want to check it out !

I remember doing one and I thought that I was going to mess my underpants because I was so stressed out and felt so overwhelmed by it all!
