This scene and the build up to it is actually my favorite scene in the entire series. The build up: - Angry Jaune goes to give Ruby the Crescent Rose, it falls on the ground because Ruby doesn't wanna take it and is visibly shaken. - Them asking what's wrong and before Ruby can even answer the paper village getting destroyed and completely shifting the focus from Ruby who needs someone urgently. - Focus is now on Jaune lamenting over the paper town and WBY consoling Jaune - Ruby who was visibly not ok seconds ago is being ignored - And than this happens. And I am not saying Jaune doesn't need help but I also think that the village needed to go for him to move forward. Jaune perfectly summarizes that everything that is going on right now is basically Ruby's fault as her being defacto leader of the extended group. Ruby knows it very well that all her plans and decisions failed but she was literally put in the position of a leader by everyone else. Jaune was leader of JNR but he always looked towards Ruby for answers on big decisions whenever they worked together. Like her rant is perfect amount of emotions and honesty that was building up in her for a while and I love it. Now I wanna know when we'll get red reaper arc.
VERY TRUE! everyone keeps saying that jaune is the one in the right completely ignoring how he put her on a pedestal as a leader. they don't get to put all of the expectations on her and agree (!!!) to all of her ideas and plans and then blame her when everything goes wrong. at least ruby was doing something! thinking of something! trying her best! what were you doing? and honestly i can't blame jaune for how he's acting but ruby was totally valid in sharing her feelings about this even if her outburst was angry and bitter. also jaune as an adult screaming at a teenager for decisions he helped her make, alongside blaming her for neo's hatred towards her doesn't sit right with me, ruby literally did nothing to deserve that.
While technically true he is also oh so wrong. After being thrown back in time he had perfect opportunity to do something. He could have trained a bit, explore whole lot, create a place anyone from Remnant would easily recognized and find, maybe even find a way back. And then just drink pinacolada while waiting for others to fall. But what did he do? mope around all day for years, blaming everybody but himself, even thou he was also team leader, and could have come at any point with any better plan. Or at least maybe a safetynet? how about preventing anyone associated with Salem accessing the portals? they were magical portals, right, why couldnt they added such feature? Anyway, not important. After his moping around he finally found someone to help, and that someone used him. Well great, forget about the bitch and move on, but no. But not he again found someone to help, even thou they only let him help them because it again only helps him. I hope Ruby will take either dream Ruby advice and becomes someone who she wants to be and be happy, or at least blacksmiths advice and drops her burden and let someone else carry it. Maybe Jaune could finally step up and do something actually useful for once. I only hope she wont ascend, because that feels more and more like something she will do. Or maybe she has finally lived long enough... and so she will become the vil.....
@@AltarinTV exactly. Like I understand Jaune is going through stuff. But he has been there for 10 years. That’s a long time. While isolation can certainly add to the stress. There's something oddly satisfying about this scene. The heroes who you've always known to try and do the right thing, the supposed to be goody two shoes of the story, finally start to break down and snap. RWBY has this huge burden on her, being someone with silver eyes, leading her team and other's towards to path that will save remnant, but she's also the one who has to see people get hurt, even die, on that path and those moments are finally catching up to her and she's just about done with it all. Jaune has just as much on him too, having Pyrrha die, having to kill penny to prevent the winter maiden power from falling into cinder's hands, getting stuck in wonderland only to get thrown back in time, then left alone there for 20 something years, experience the things he's had to, of course he's at his wits end too.

In fairness it sort of looked like Jaune before he snapped from the village flooding was going to address Ruby’s obvious trauma when she refused to take the crescent rose. There’s a moment there, right before the village floods that he becomes self aware of something going on. However Jaune’s mind I’d say is a little fragmented. He has been living like Tom Hanks in castaway this whole time and the everafterans aren’t exactly the most coherent company. They constantly have to be reminded what a human is after all. Is he right for blaming it all on Ruby? I don’t think so. But Ruby did provoke with that cheap shot in regards to the villagers he’s been living with all this time and called them imaginary. Imagine if Jaune or someone told Ruby to get over Penny because she wasn’t a “real girl”? As the audience we both know they are real, whether Jaunes villagers are actually dead or not remains to be seen but he lived with them longer than Ruby even knew Penny, calling them imaginary was dirty and obviously just lashing out wantonly.
You know how I can tell this is a good argument scene?? So many people in the comments are taking both sides with good points on both. It's no longer just "this is stupid x person is obviously in the right". Technically...no one's in the right here. Just like a lot of real life arguments. It's not always right vs wrong. More often than not it's just angry and hurt people screaming below the belt insults and venting feelings like a disconnected mosaic. It's messy. I like watching it. I can see both sides. And I don't think we can claim any one side is the "right" one necessarily. I mean Jaune was in the wrong in a sense but again...how is he supposed to be? Marooned in a reality bending land for years with only the memory of his loved ones to keep him going. He may have been wrong in some areas...but it feels like an even cheaper blow to blame him. He's very unwell. And to those saying he should have looked for a way out before he was traumatized by Ever After, he was traumatized when he arrived. He murdered someone. Her blood still stained his sword. He would have to wait years to see his friends again. Jaune hasn't been well for a long time. We forget he fully intended to die fighting cinder. And yeah, this kind of psychological damage is a journey not a light switch. But I don't imagine he started out in any good mental state. How was he even supposed to fix that? We learn so much of how to heal and repair from the people in our lives. Jaune's people consisted of a colony of origami, jabberwalkers, a cat that spoke in riddles and other clusterfucks. Not exactly the best substitute for therapy. He certainly couldn't have talked himself out of it. Jaune's his own worst enemy. If anything I don't think he would have let himself live if he was truly alone with his own thought. Look how busy his schedule is. That's more than just desperation to save someone; anyone. It's a defense mechanism. Anyway rant over sorry that was long.
I love how Roosterteeth is calling out themselves through the characters. Especially towards Yang and Blake. They wait until they ended up in the Ever After to exchange saliva and please everybody, while Ruby's slowing descending into depression. Dick move😂. And Jaune put Ruby on blast so beautifully. Everything has been all about her, and she never took responsibility for her screw-ups. Yes she's just a kid but even kids need to be humbled. This was by far my favourite part.
She did need to be humbled if she didnt realize her fault, but she already realized its all her fault in V8, but everyone didnt notice it or care enough, now i think this scene more like culmination of all her guilt she was feel for so long, same like jaune
Well, they wanted the ship more than the character so I dont know if Yang or Blake subscribe as characters but act more like archetypes of certain characters from extreme tomboy and her terrorist gf.
I like this. I've been watching clips of the series off and on cause after volume 3 everything fell off and I didn't feel like dedication my time to a show I didn't enjoy anymore, but if the writing is gonna be like this now and not retcon any of their mistakes like the Bumblebee ships and stuff imma respect them. Now if only they could have given this level of writing to Adam....
Honestly, I wanna give Ruby a hug ❤😢 I was pissed of Yang being in front of Blake like that’s UR SISTER BTW!? She has every right to lash out on all of them, When she gets to her Lowest DOES ANYONE HELP HER NO!! And Jaune you spent ur entire life here AND HAVENT FOUND CONCRETE PLAN TO GO HOME, YOU HAD TIME TO GRIEVE RUBY HASN’T! What did you expect Ruby to do be cheerful and say “I agree Weiss everything will be okay with thumbs up” I get that Yang has gf but nows not time you go on about I HAD TO LOOK AFTER RUBY WHEN WE WERE CHILDREN, Yet all you asked this whole volume is ONE QUESTION “Are you okay!?” Nothing Else P.S VOICE ACTING WAS S+ AND FIGHT SCENE WITH MUSIC ALSO S+
Uuuuuuggghhhhh, damn it , I was out ....now it drags me back in , now I need to go catch up , I've been waiting for character development since the end of season 3
It’s disappointing to see Blake being so weak, now having to rely on Yang to be “protected” from Ruby. Yang’s supposed little sister whom she claims to love and have raised since childhood, treating someone who is clearly having a mental breakdown as if they are incredibly dangerous. Now these two girls are just one halves of a ship, personality long drained from them. Good job shippers. The characters I love now are Jaune and Ruby. 😂
Yang going into mom mode is a nice bit of characterization. Makes you wonder how long it’s been since Ruby has gotten this bad that Yang’s first reflex is to go all quiet and stern like you do with a tantrum.
The thing is though Ruby has never been like this, Ruby’s always been extremely positive to her own detriment and mental health. And she’s not having a tantrum, she’s having a mental breakdown.
@@Allthingsasian I know it’s not a tantrum. I’m just saying that Yang reacting this way proves that it’s been way too long since Ruby got mad. why is it even rubys fault lmao. Nobody had a better plan and let’s face it if she didn’t do anything nobody would have. All these things would have happened or been worse regardless cause everything was going to shit with or without her
Like I understand why Jaune said what he said and is upset. Both Jaune and Ruby said some very hurtful and fucked up things, but you guys are like “Jaunes right” Which I will admit her plans made for this outcome but that’s normal. Who else was gonna do anything? Everything was gonna crumble regardless. at least she TRIED. when nobody else. At least she didn’t give up. And also he’s mad at her. Where was his plan?
I noticed that too I mean in volume 9 chapter 1 when ruby passes out yang just sits there looking at her it’s little that tries to wake her up like bro that’s your sister
Ruby has made mistakes but she needed someone to remind her that she made those decisions and screwed up. She is a kid and even though she is the leader even she needs to be reminded of her screw ups. I'm honestly glad that she got angry at everybody she finally let's out how she is feeling. Blake and Yang got to work out their feelings but has Ruby got to yet? NOPE! Her pointing out the ship felt good because she was bring up a point about "why now did you realize your feelings", "Why are you so okay when I'm not?"
Giri. Japanese for “the burden hardest to bear.” Normally is about just contributing to society by working and raising a family. But it was expanded upon in Transformers as the burden of leadership. In the S3 episode of the same name, Rodimus was feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders. The Matrix chose him to lead the Autobots but he constantly felt like he wasn’t making the right decisions. Always living in Optimus’s shadow. When losing the Matrix and going back to Hot Rod he realized he can’t focus on mistakes. He can’t even focus on victory or defeat. He has to accept the burden, respect it, and lead as best he can. It was his fate. So he becomes Rodimus Prime again. Ruby, and Jaune too, have to realize that they are not perfect but have to stay strong and keep leading as best they can. Mourn their losses, handle their trauma, and move forward as best they can. Living in the past won’t save the future. And they’re not alone. As fellow leaders they have each other. They also have their friends and teammates. Leading isn’t about always making the right decisions, it’s about leading people forward in spite of failures. It’s what heroes do. And the biggest part of being a hero is accepting that you can’t save everybody. Focus on those you can save. Like all the people of Atlas they did rescue. How they saved Emerald and turned her to the side of good. How they even got the White Fang to stop following Adam and sowing terror. It was all because of them that they accomplished so much. They need to keep moving forward. Fate called upon them for this. Now they decide if their destiny is to overcome the challenges fate presents.

No I totally agree that’s exactly how I see this scene as well
I love how Roosterteeth is calling out themselves through the characters.
Oh mine too it was so well made
I’ve been saying this felt so meta.
It’s like they’re roasting themselves through Ruby and Jaune.
And isn’t Jaune’s VA one of the writers?
She did need to be humbled if she didnt realize her fault, but she already realized its all her fault in V8, but everyone didnt notice it or care enough, now i think this scene more like culmination of all her guilt she was feel for so long, same like jaune
Well, they wanted the ship more than the character so I dont know if Yang or Blake subscribe as characters but act more like archetypes of certain characters from extreme tomboy and her terrorist gf.
This side of ruby is interesting 😂
Definitely something we don’t see often
@@EvanRichardson2002 but we all saw coming.
@@MandalorOrdo oh yeah definitely she deserves to act this way after all she’s been through
I think this is the first time that I’ve actually been somewhat impressed by Ruby
I agree
I like this. I've been watching clips of the series off and on cause after volume 3 everything fell off and I didn't feel like dedication my time to a show I didn't enjoy anymore, but if the writing is gonna be like this now and not retcon any of their mistakes like the Bumblebee ships and stuff imma respect them.
Now if only they could have given this level of writing to Adam....
I like the scene as well probably my favorite in the volume
The only person would help her is "Vaas Montenegro" by telling her "the definiton of insanity"
Honestly, I wanna give Ruby a hug ❤😢
I was pissed of Yang being in front of Blake like that’s UR SISTER BTW!?
She has every right to lash out on all of them, When she gets to her Lowest DOES ANYONE HELP HER NO!!
And Jaune you spent ur entire life here AND HAVENT FOUND CONCRETE PLAN TO GO HOME, YOU HAD TIME TO GRIEVE RUBY HASN’T!
What did you expect Ruby to do be cheerful and say “I agree Weiss everything will be okay with thumbs up”
I get that Yang has gf but nows not time you go on about I HAD TO LOOK AFTER RUBY WHEN WE WERE CHILDREN, Yet all you asked this whole volume is ONE QUESTION “Are you okay!?” Nothing Else
P.S VOICE ACTING WAS S+ AND FIGHT SCENE WITH MUSIC ALSO S+
To be fair for Jaune, it’s not like Ruby have to mercy kill her friend…… don’t flame me please.
Uuuuuuggghhhhh, damn it , I was out ....now it drags me back in , now I need to go catch up , I've been waiting for character development since the end of season 3
Jaune is so slay
He’s really awesome I like his character
I’m loving, this please keep going
I plan on uploading way more thanks for the comment
@@EvanRichardson2002 no problem

It’s disappointing to see Blake being so weak, now having to rely on Yang to be “protected” from Ruby. Yang’s supposed little sister whom she claims to love and have raised since childhood, treating someone who is clearly having a mental breakdown as if they are incredibly dangerous. Now these two girls are just one halves of a ship, personality long drained from them. Good job shippers. The characters I love now are Jaune and Ruby. 😂
They’ll make up and apologize I’m sure
Passive aggression of creators that were bullied in shipping Blake and Yang is hilarious.
Exactly and that took up the entirety of from volumes 2 to 9 The Bullying, the bashing, the death threats
heh
Sigma Ruby
Yang going into mom mode is a nice bit of characterization. Makes you wonder how long it’s been since Ruby has gotten this bad that Yang’s first reflex is to go all quiet and stern like you do with a tantrum.
The thing is though Ruby has never been like this, Ruby’s always been extremely positive to her own detriment and mental health. And she’s not having a tantrum, she’s having a mental breakdown.
@@Allthingsasian I know it’s not a tantrum. I’m just saying that Yang reacting this way proves that it’s been way too long since Ruby got mad.
Also I heavily dislike anyone who says that Yang having a relationship means she doesn’t care about Ruby anymore. If you can’t handle your sibling having a romantic relationship, you have a serious problem.
@@nomisunrider6472 I never said ‘Yang having a relationship means she doesn’t care about Ruby anymore’ anywhere in my comment, when did you even arrive at this viewpoint based on what I’ve said in my comment?
All I did was try and explain Ruby’s mental breakdown smh.
@@Allthingsasian Oh no, I was just saying that as a general thing that I’ve been seeing that I dislike, it wasn’t meant to be targeted at you specifically. I’m sorry for not making that clear.
@@nomisunrider6472 oh that’s fine 💗💗 sorry about my misunderstanding too. I agree and think it’s really sad that ppl are blaming Yang for everything when the situation is so nuanced. No one is to blame 💗
Here's hoping RWBY learn from the Ironwood saga and don't push Jaune into being a villain
Oh I hope that doesn’t happen
Man first deku now ruby
Rey pajaró Jaime (voz): Ruby lo mas duro de ser un heroe esque no puedes salvar a todo el mundo 😔
Ok, now she's completely lost her mind 😨😱
As much as I feel for Ruby saying that Jaune's friends were make believe was stupid.
Yeah I agree she kinda went a little overboard
Sometimes I think we need to remind ourselves that they are only teenagers with too much expected out of them.
And that’s what is the most heart breaking fact.
They are just kids.
Yeah I sometimes forget about that since they act so mature
One normal night one normal night Ruby wants one normal night
why is it even rubys fault lmao. Nobody had a better plan and let’s face it if she didn’t do anything nobody would have. All these things would have happened or been worse regardless cause everything was going to shit with or without her
No idea I never noticed that no one had better plans thanks for the info
Like I understand why Jaune said what he said and is upset. Both Jaune and Ruby said some very hurtful and fucked up things, but you guys are like “Jaunes right” Which I will admit her plans made for this outcome but that’s normal. Who else was gonna do anything? Everything was gonna crumble regardless. at least she TRIED. when nobody else. At least she didn’t give up. And also he’s mad at her. Where was his plan?
@@aa-bj9uv I guess he ether doesn’t have one or we haven’t heard anything about it yet
Yang didnt really try to comfort her sister. Or even try to calm her down. A bit sad
She doesn't care anymore
@@PrincessLockette nah she trying to get the kitties other kitty
@@maninthesnow4393 that's what I meant, Yang only cares about Blake now. She doesn't give a fuck about her sister at all anymore.
"Why do I always have to be the one to pick people up?"
That's called the burden of leadership, Ruby. The responsibility of your position on the team.
Exactly it’s like she’s just realized that she’s leader
I'm curious to see how this all plays out
Yeah same I’m so excited to see what happens
I fear that based on the number of episodes announced that volume 10 will also play in the Ever After.
Or a switch to Remnant to Qrows or others POV.
