as a self taught guitarist, i develped that picking/strumming style on nessesity. I never had picks around and when I did it felt wrong. years later I started learning Elliott's songs and was supprised how naturally it came!
The white lady loves you more was the first song i heard from elliott. It played in a Gus Van Sant movie called Paranoid Park. Got hooked and 10+ years later, still one of my favorite singer/songwriters. You played this and Easy Way Out beautifully
I realized how essential his thumb is to his playing by watching your vids. the independence of it. like how travis picking works but he applied it to waltzes and strumming. I have an fg180 red label too. one day I hope to play as good as you!
Great job playing these songs!! Learning these were for sure landmarks in my playing. I hope this doesn't come across as nit-picky, but the way that Elliott does that style is a tad bit different than you demonstrated although there's nothing wrong with playing it like this. It's a bit closer to the flamenco guitar technique where the index and bird fingers play the same string back to back, but Elliot's version of it is a LOT sloppier and more haphazard, watch either of these songs or Tomorrow Tomorrow live and you can kinda see it. He kinda just throws his hand around lol truly order out of chaos. Point is, don't apologize for the "sloppiness!!" I think often times some of Elliott's spirit can be lost in a cover when its super clean and polished.
@@brushstrokemedallion hey mate thanks for the response. I'd be interested in Roman candle or new disaster. But it's my other fingers in having trouble with. I'm getting the bass note down but in not sure what I should be doing with my index, middle ect. More refering to the other video as the technique in this seems more straight forward.
His strumming technique combined with his tuning and chord selections made him very unique, it was all magic
his technique is so insane, these videos do a great job explaining what all the grainy live video recordings couldn't
please keep doing these

I think you should protract the thumb a bit more forward, but it sounds great. I love your guitar sound.
How do you play it that fast
Noice!
Could you maybe make some more in-depth tutorials? I've been trying to replicate this and the other video. It seems so subtle but it's so tricky 🤣
do you have a specific song you're interested in? i can do my best.
