So long as we keep him in our hearts, Rick Nelson will never die. He was truly one of the great ones!

Ricky is an extremely talented individual. Unfortunately, because of his television background, he was underrated.

It's hard to believe that "popular" music has sunk so low today from the level of this song from 1963. And Ricky was one of the best rockers around. I know 'cause I was there.

What is amazing and younger generation don't know this - He loved to imitate Elvis when he was young and I read that he eventually met him several times and Elvis admitted that he use to watch Ricky's show on TV for many years. Amazing both admiring each other. Wow!

He said in a Variety interview that Ozzy told him his solo in this song reminded him of great sax player band mate from his band leader days. I really only came here in search of that solo. A lot of times the real talent is literally and figuratively behind the front man.

@zzzlazy1zzz I agree. I wasn't born when this show aired, but I love tv shows and music from the 50s through the 80s. You can have a bad day, and watching these retro shows make you feel better. I'll turn it on something modern and I will most likely feel worse.

As a kid in the 60's I grew up with Elvis and Ricky. I thought they were the greatest singers of all time. I always wanted to sound like Ricky though.

Rickie was a really appealing singer,&had a 1st rate guitar player in James Burton who later played with Elvis. And this is a top notch '60s pop song with everything going for it! Kenneth Anger uses it,&many other top 40 songs, all from 1963,as soundtrack to his offbeat biker movie Scorpio Rising.1963: what a year for pop music,so many excellent songs, including this one! It was also the first year I got my Mom to buy me a few top 40 singles(age 7 or 8) "My Boyfriend's Back" was the first one,

six years ago when my daughter was pregnant we were watching a rerun of Rick on Saturday Night Live. We both commented on how handsome she was. I told her Rick's real name is Eric...so that is how she named her son my grandson Eric.

@castalia60able Incorrect they were actually fast chums and hung out and played football together along with Robert Conrad, Lee Majors, James Caan and Chad Everett. Led by ELVIS and LONG before Sheen, Estevez and those young gun punks..this lot was the original Hollywood Boys Club.

My idol fo the early 60's. Anything he sang I loved., especially the great "Travelling Man" and the romantic song "Again". I still look up all his songs in U-Tuibe and listen to them. I feel so much nostalgia for those happy carefree years of my life, before Viet Nam and drugs descended upon our country..

@19450william Papa gene's blues, song by Michael Nesmith (The Monkees) It should be on youtube somewhere. Great song, very Roackabilly with some great guitar pickin' in it.

I guess that Juice for Joe is not aware that a whole generation of guitarists learned to play by trying to ape that cat with the "lame vibrato". (BTW it's tremilo any way)

No everything about this clip is not great, and that's because James Burton's solo is literally cut in half. And YT took down the only recording of this song that had original pitch and the full JB solo.
