Love these guys! My oldest pair I think is getting really close to that age. One definitely has bristles but the other just has these little spiky bumps around the edge of its “nose.” Idk if that means it’s a female or a subdominant male 🤔
I just stared at my fish tank for 10 minutes when I noticed a tiny albino pleco swimming around. I have a 55 gal community tank. Didn’t even realize I had a male and female pleco.
I asked for a male and a female at the fish store. They gave me a male and the second fish has tiny bristles and the fish is fully grown. So do females have small bristles or none at all?
I wish someone would work on breeding a smaller bristlenose pleco that is about 1/2 the size. If we can breed poodles from wolves, it should be possible.
My male has been in the cave protecting the babies for 7 days now after the eggs had hatched :) personally, I would let nature do it's thing and pump the male up after he's done with his work. Won't guarantee that all males are so committed tho so all in all it rly depends on ur pleco's personality too, e.g. does it kick out the eggs, eat the eggs, etc.
Eggs hatch after 5 to 7 days and it's best to remove them 5 to 10 days after they hatch. If you are scared about the babies then pull them out at 10 days. They are more at risk when they still have a huge egg sac. I've lost more baby fish when pulling them out 2-3 days after hatching. The more babies in the cave the antsier they get to swim out. If the brood is small like just around 30 eggs then they can stay in there longer but usually, a bigger brood like close to 80+ babies will have babies trying to swim out after 7 days.
Hi handsome awesome video thanks for the tips 😊😊 do u know y the hilleries and sword tails ( thats the name in my country) jump out the aquarium and commits suicide 🙄 i keep having that problem where my fishes jumps out the tank ....HELP NEEDED 🤦♀️🤦♀️
You need them to be around one year or one and a half or if your not sure how old it is when matured the females will usually be back and 7-8 with lots of bristles for the matured male
I don't even take care of fish but I just subscribed out of curiosity. 😂😂
Watching from Ireland, great video bro

Hey mate. Where about in Brisbane do you get your breeding logs from.I can’t seem to find any. Just wondering if there is a secret spot or something
Paul’s aquariums

Would pvc pipe work as well?
I used to use a terra-cotta pot. About a 3“ x 4“ works well.
How old should the Pleco be to start breeding? I have a 8 month old peppermint Pleco and I’m thinking about getting a female.
I have a top filter (Venus Aqua U6600). Do the babies possibly get into the inlet?
is it ok to pair wherein the male is bigger than the female?
I have a water sofener that I can't bypass and I have tank raised and bred l183 will my water be safe after declorination?
What kind of fish can u keep with Bristlenose Plecos that wont eat eggs or fry??

Is the male fanning the eggs to prevent fungus? How long should you leave him in the cave?A week?

Leave him until he comes out! He's protecting the babies.
