- Trash picking after lockdown was terrible.
I thought I'd have a crack at it since it the end of street scrapping season and the first chance to go out but not to be.

I pick up vacuum cleaners and clean them up and sell them. Yesterday, every vacuum I found, the cord had been cut! Not one even left, for us re-purposing folk. 😂

Hi Ben, finally another video streetscrapping, I can feel your happiness here.
And it doesn't really matter if you find a lot, finding freedom is worth a lot more.
I love his street scrapping he finds some nice stuff
says scrap piles are lean, leaves behind vintage scooter and all it's parts.
Leaves behind fan motor also and only cuts it's wire. I don't know if copper canyon windings in a medium-small fan has more or less copper than the chord.
He has a speciality. He doesn't do restorations. That scooter without ownership papers is only scrap value or parts. Can't see many people wanting parts for something that I was surprised even existed in Australia of a vintage caliber

He'd tell us that he knows what he's doing, and he almost certainly does, but, still, he could have taken the microwaves and processed all three before lunch. Got next to nothing to clear out of the van anyway. He doesn't want a new lot of dirty steel from those ? Just donate it to the scrapyard when passing by if not worth waiting to cash it. But we all pace ourselves depending on our moods.
Me too & the vaccuums, I can either sell or scrap both, even the wands & heads are good for me as I often get working vaccuums with no hose or wand.
I can sell plenty of fans when it gets hot, even parts help me make good fans out of parts.
The number of working fridges & freezers I find is astounding.
Washers & driers sell too. Ben talks disparigingly about cord cutters then does the same himself thus rendering resellable items useless, sadly.
@@keithhaycraft3765 he should take home chord things he cuts (unless obvious) the thing doesn't work. Check if things work. O have several auction places within 20 miles where I live where people bid on any working appliance. A small fix up on many and taking to an auction house will get someone at $2+ USD in the US minus the 10 percent dealer charge and 15-20 percent total auction commission. More money made than steel scrapping in that way.

Glad you were able to get out and stretch your legs. We still have a long haul in front of us with this virus. Sorry you didn't find more, but at least you had the opportunity to get out and about.

Some "Smalls" and Cords - not too much - but hey - You got out and we hope in the Future when things are more Normal that the Street Scraping will pick up - I see in the USA and in Canada they fill up their Vans and Trucks every Time they go out - there is sooooo Much Stuff ! YES!!!!!! Finally Street Scrapping. It's like we've been in lockdown with you Ben.
Here in Canada things are just as bad, our kids just got kicked out of school and we can’t have any gatherings. To little too late if you ask me we are going down the rabbit hole

Here in Wisconsin we have been fortunate not to be locked down. I get to street scrap 3-4 days a week. I take anything though. Scrap metal and electronics.
Got 3 EETV and 4 Sky boxes over the last 2 months. Each one had decent sized HDDs in. Checked them and flogged them. Made nearly £125.

Covid = redundancies = job losses = more scrappers? is that a possibility perhaps? You have shown yourself in the past with earlier videos (thinking Scrap or Starve here) that people are getting pushed to find other income sources and ultimately scrapping is easy and cheap(ish) to do.

Hey there, here in U.S. it's getting bad in northern states. Here in North Carolina we have returned to lock for but winter will be rough.hopefully they won't shut down here but cases are risinkg

Can't street scrap in Ontario, Canada where I live. About 10 years ago they made putting electronics at the curb for garbage pickup illegal. You have to take them to a recycler.
Same here in Ireland no electronics on the kerb anymore
Here in New York it is illegal but the town I live in will pick them up so you can find some. Last year I found multiple computers. But a lot of people I don t think know thr town does that.
@@HankPanky Here in Ontario, you can either drop them off for free, or if you are smart, you can actually get a $ for the stuff you have.

It's the same in Sydney either people forget clean up is on or no one is throwing out stuff atm used to be every house had a pile and now it's one or 2 house's in a whole street with rubbish very unusual !
You are lucky, my local Councils banned street chuckouts unless you are prepared to pay to get the stuff hauled away. I have had to learn the areas where this is ignored & people are likely to leave stuff on the footpath anyway.
Mondays & Tuesdays ate best scrap days for me then process during the week.

As for particular the state of Utah, I live in the capital of Salt Lake City. Our governor just Wednesday night issued 4 mandates:
1- MANDATORY MASK WEARING LAW ENFORCED !!!!
always wear mask (everyone) except indoors at home
Fines range from: $25 - upwards of as much as $10,000
2- no social gathering(s) other than individuals who live in your same household
3- practice social distancing & no group assembly
4- nothing is closed ! Everything is open for business in Utah.
Look forward to your vids. They are a break from all the bad news here in the USA. Our leaders are fools. A friend from work died of covid last Saturday. It is real. Stay safe.
I saw so much stuff I would have picked up. I take everything and take it apart. Washer, dryer, old tube tv's. I was ready to have a stroke! Great videos though. I have learned alot watching them!
If y return empty, at least take some metal. Don't waste your time.
Just a tip those dvd/vhs players a worth a lot especially if you find a panasonic or toshiba with a hdmi output they go for about $200-$300

I'm in Canada and things are so so. Not as bad has the USA thought our border between the two country has been closed since march.
US freedom to be inconsiderate in a country with lacking health-care. Yea.

I am not going scrapping much now I am recovering from oesophagus surgery and I find it extremely difficult to be bending and moving heavy things so i'm going to try to make a decision to keep healthy and take it easy for a while. I hope next year is not going to be the same as what we have had to endure and we'll done Virtually every Victorian has been great but we are not getting rid of the trouble makers they have to be the ones who are not interested in the future of our community but they are now going to have another problem with the thought of being a responsible person is to hard to do so I wonder what it is next for them, such as scrapping their probably not happy about this.
Due to COVID around here people have turned to scrapping to offset some of there loss of income. So there are allot of new scrappers driving through the area. Further more, people are not throwing allot out. Less income means they can't throw away allot. Hopefully it's a sign though. You are finally able to get out. I pray that your country is on the up swing
is it like just windy every were today. Its windy down under and even in the states mid west as I know of to day is windy as heck the last week or so. Its like windy windy here like 45 mph or more.
Pandemic here in U.S. ramping up quickly. We just cancelled our Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings for now. Sad but safety is a concern.

It’s really hard here in the uk soon as someone puts something out it’s gone in a matter of 1 or 2 hours.
Hardly anyone puts things out the front to give away in the UK anymore. They usually take it all the time dump or sell it on Gumtree. I tell you it’s better to hang around the dump and help people unload their cars and take the good stuff home with out. I got a almost new Henry hoover with the pipe and everything that they was throwing out. It’s amazing what people will dump.

bess ya man i hope you get out of it to am still locked in here in uk in my flat sat in my bedroom to keep warm and till i can afford a new wheel chair so ya hope it works for us all man i hate this locked away to die feeling there is no real help out there anymore is there we are units set to remote control eat sleep repeat wait for the end program to run Jesus i hope i get to it before am scrapped out
At least you could scrap with your motorize van but not in NYC ( $2000.00 Fine ) or get a license for pick-ups, it's illegal to use a motor van to pick up metals. The only way to pick up is a hand truck or shopping cart.

No way is it over in Australia. The more borders that open the bigger the risk of another wave. I am in Tasmania and our state has been COVID free for months - longer than anywhere else in Australia. Unfortunately now our premier is opening our border to other states, I guess we will see a second wave here in our little island state. I believe we open our borders to Victoria on the 23rd of this month. Scary for us tasmanians.
