It's still an interesting interview, but if he wants my constructive criticism I would vote to let the interviewee spend at least twice as long talking as the interviewer. I'm still confused why they have ethernet running about in the vehicle. Do you need ethernet to power speakers? I don't get it. Isn't running ethernet to speakers unnecessarily complicated? They said that they reduced wire weight by 82% with the 48 volt system. 400% more voltage, means you can drop the wire size dramatically, in addition to the CAT6 ethernet wire acting to communicate with everything, drops the wire harness requirements from 450 wires down to about 150 wires on the Cybertruck wiring harness. Since 2019 announce of the truck we have had massive inflation, 24% in total & thats average inflation some supply chains have gone up more than that, then there is now a $7500 tax credit so do the math on inflation and tax credit and the truck did not increase in price. Then you tried to be disingenuous by only mentioning the top tier 100K truck. You do know for makes a 109K Raptor right? You do know the average price for a truck in america is 59K right? Lowest model CyberTruck is 60k minus the 7500 tax credit and you are at 53k. & tesla can further lower prices as they ramp production.

Yep ... and does anyone think an authoritarian government would allow Space X to launch rockets to orbit or Tesla to build the CT? Want to end SpaceX, end democracy; it is that simple. The US government (we the taxpayers) acted as Venture Capitalists, investing in both of Elon's big wins. We were Space X's first customers and lender to Tesla (as well an all kinds of subsidies for EV generally). That VC pick was a winner. SpaceX and Tesla build great products, employ many Americans and pay lots of taxes. Note 1: It is OK to shut the fuck up about things you do not know about Sandy and 2: It is OK to say something nice about government. ... they ended with allusions to a civil war. ... that would be a really bad outcome for the economy and products that we aspire to buy and enjoy owning.

Utilising the advice of those we employ to produce better, quicker and nicer products … common sense over past production practices for their own sake has made Tesla the leader in what it does and their attitude that anything can be improved and we will do it as we go forward has old school of thought Corporations on the Ropes because they don’t fit the times and don’t really want to … excellent video , keep them coming Munro … !

The Cybertruck extended range requires more kWh then some EVs have in total just for Sentry mode to work.
    A Fiat 500e has 84 miles range.
Max Cybertruck range is 470 miles (20%=94).
We are told to only use 50% by Tesla; "only charge to 80% for daily driving / at high use superchargers" and "Sentry mode is unavailable below 20%, so charge at 30%".
Sandy should have asked why Sentry mode is disabled at 20% instead of 44 miles (or make it smart; turning off Sentry mode based on how far your charging destination is away from your parking spot).

Many people I have talked to like Tesla but say Tesla isn’t a car you can keep for long term aka 200k miles. Body work is very costly and battery 🔋 replacement is very expensive. Plus tires 🛞 are expensive and also glass is expensive.

Above all the incredible things about Elon in this interview, that’s what I took from this too. He is pressed on time, Sandy is getting into constantly new topics, but Elon not only doesn’t show disengagement or stress. On the contrary, he remains steady eye contact and actually replies instantly with relevant answers. Really listening and if they happen to interrupt each other, lets the other person speak.

Thanks so much Sandy for this interview!
You got it on the head.... it's all about leadership. Elon said that the CT was not a "bet the company" vehicle and that is what allowed them to experiment. My guess is that OEMs see each qtr's financial performance as "betting the company" and that is why they cannot innovate, or if they do it's glacial speed.
OEM management needs to learn how to risk failure again. They can't seem to and instead think that using R&D money for stock buy backs is more efficacious.
Look for Mary Barra to retire by end of next year. She is pumping the stock to maximize her yearly bonus... then she will sell all she can at the higher price too. Get ready to see her congratulate her leadership on "saving GM" then she'll leave before GM's assured demise.

its not the same for established OEM's, they have multiple vehicle lineups bringing in money, they are not at any point betting the company on a single model.

Nice to see you guys having a chat. I can't overstate my admiration and gratitude for the progress forced by Tesla, spacex, etc.
I still struggle with the other free speech and various freedoms vs historical racism and other forms of bullying (dominance and subjugation stuff). I understand some of it is likely too far a stretch and itself abused or merely overstated. But if we have lived without much experience of harm because of being in a minority or so, its worth stretching yourself to minimise harm when possible.
Good luck guys. Wish you and your teams well and good fortune achieving your goals.

Monday morning QB here but what Sandy should have drone is sent a list of deep engineering questions to Elon before the interview so he could have though ahead and made the 45 minutes of responses full of interesting technical information. That would have allowed them to discuss things in detail vs. Sandy trying to be a professional interviewer.

I kind of wish Sandy would prepare a little bit before these interviews to have a series of engineering centric questions, because unfortunately, I think he talked a little bit too much in this interview, and understandably I would to if I were sitting down with Musk, but I would be more interested to hear more about the engineering and how/why certain decisions were made.

I’ve watched a lot of Sandy’s interviews & he hasn’t always been so kind when speaking about Tesla, but those days are in the past. He made it quite clear that he is a Elon fanboy for life. Elon is a forward thinker and a man who gets what he wants. These people who nit pick Elon about his past missteps or his ETA’s have never will/never be able to fill the man’s shoe’s. I hate haters if you can’t tell. W/this interview Sandy saved face in my book. Which only shows his morals and integrity. Good for you Sandy!
