Man brings Bugatti to Jiffy Lube for tyre puncture patch, they say no because the patch would not be rated for 200+mph speeds the vehicle is capable of so it is a massive liability on the store. Employees in the past damaged a much less expensive supercars wheels which cost the store a pretty penny to replace so they don't want to deal with any potential damages to a much more expensive Bugatti vehicle. There's the whole story.
in order to replace a tire on that car it requires a factory rep to fly out with the wheels and tires (4) and rent a track day to test the car after the tire replacement. It doesn't cost $10k rather $150k.
On the early cars, I’m pretty certain that the tyres are actually “glued” to the wheels. Not something a local tyre bay is going to have handy on the shelf!

You can only pull those tires off the wheels twice and they have to be installed properly. After the second time you need a whole new set of wheels with tires. Theres tons of videos on why changing bugatti tires is so expensive.

It is funny how people with a bunch of money seem to have none. It was a funny conversation to hear when they explained that he would have to take the car somewhere else.
Why would changing the oil in a V12 be any different to changing the oil in a V6? Just undo drain bolt, drain oil, replace filter, pour in new oil. No way you would put that cheap nasty $20 stuff in it but it's like $45 to get some decent stuff.
Houston told in one of vlogs that he later done "official" oil change because skipped official service may devalue his bugatti. Told also that his bugatti yt videos make it hard to sell.

I always look at anything I work on as a bunch of screws, washes and nuts holding parts together. I've worked on motorcycles, cars, trucks, tanks, missiles, computers etc. I don't let the comcomplexity of the equipment scare me. I just look at it as another challenge to overcome.
Some supercar tires can't be patched, the car in this case has a higher top speed than what the tires rated at. Now on the other hand if this guy drives his car normally like 35-65mph OR if he planned replacing the tires soon he could plug it himself. If he tracks his car or drives it as it was intended to be driven he'd be safer with new tires. That being said.. why would anyone buying a million dollar car not take it to a certified mechanic? Even if a dealer isn't nearby you still have other exotic car technicians and dealerships who are certified and insured.
Technically he couldn't fix those if he was to remove the tire as these require the Michelin PAX equipment. Technically a Honda dealer could replace the tires as the 2005-2010 Odyssey touring had PAX tires.
I aligned a Honda Oddy with those lame PAX tires/wheels: wound up using tire tread alignment head clamps and, the spacers that reference off the rims. And, come to find out, quite a few Honda owners wound up getting rid of the PAX setups in lieu of regular tires/wheels.
Houston is an idiot to think he is much smarter than Michelin and Bugatti. They didn't do all that testing and elopement for nothing if they could run an off the shelf tire. They already said from tests the found out how extreme the wear was and that standard valve stems would open up and bleed air at the speeds. Not to mention that you needed to change the wheels every 3 tire changes because the tires were a size too small and glued to the wheel and it caused micro cracks to form. They were able to drastically reduce costs with the Chiron and already stated the new tires an wheels will fit the Veyrons so no need to pay the crazy prices anymore.

Guy I know in my town went to jiffy lube and they didn’t tighten down his oil filter he didn’t even make it home 4 miles away before all the oil dumped out and it had a rod knock from lack of oil.
Get one of those leather plug type of tire repair kits and jam it in there. Hell, I've gotten 30k miles from one of those plug jobs. I got a small nail in a tire once and I coated a flat head wood screw with silicone seal and screwed it in. It bought me a few weeks til I could fix it properly.
Respectfully, you should never attempt to patch a tire which was engineered to support a two-ton vehicle at 270 mph. There are no aftermarket alternatives.

If the gentleman would have gotten the tire patch, he would get into a really dangerous situation if he would go over 120mph. There is a lot of stress on parts like the tires when pushing the car, wich is'nt difficult to do with a beast like the Veyron.

Think tires are bad, try an oil change. Have to send the car back for a complete tear down and rebuild. Extermely expensive. Top that with only 3 places in the US that deal with bugatti tires
Can't patch a Bugatti tire, it's a Michelin PAX tire (they come as a single wheel/tire unit and have an internal structure that keeps the tire from going completely flat). In fact I believe it's Honda Odysseys (2007, I believe) that also have PAX tires, I had a customer that was part of a lawsuit class action since the fact that they'd have to replace complete tire and wheel units when they purchased the vehicle. Nonetheless, a plug won't go into a PAX tire, and as far as I'm aware there's no way to remove PAX tires from wheels without destroying at the very least the tire but also the wheel.
Edward Goodsmith You’re right people were pissed when they found out the expense for new tires. Dealers around my area would just bolt on new assemblies. I dismounted a set off a odyssey once for a scrap yard, it took me over 3 hours for a whole set. They are pressed on.
The Chiron and Divo are possible to repair. They wouldn’t get a patch. They would have to replace a $900 tire. The Veyron. You’re screwed. It’s all about geometry of the wheel.

Bugatti is basically show off car for rich people, maybe to drive it like 10-15 miles a month. I am shocked of repair costs. Unbelievable. Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of bugatti no matter how boujee this car is, don’t judge me, that car doesnt have a good or sharp design. I rather drive a Lambo which looks much sexier than a Bugatti.
It makes me laugh that fake people go and buy expensive cars and want to cheap out on repairs. it seems like almost all the expensive car owners are so tight that they squeak because I am a mechanic at a classic hot rod shop and have seen it so many times.
A lot of independent garages around where I live won’t even touch ANY exotic cars, not only will their insurance not cover them in case something goes wrong but (at least from what they told me) you need to be a certified shop to order OEM parts for them. (“Certified” as in e.g. “Ferrari certified”) and the costs of one of those certifications v.s. The amount of exotic cars they get is just not feasible.
People are scared to touch one, due to not only liability, but also cost. Now on the Bugatti Veyron the tires need to be glued onto the rims so that they don’t slip during hard acceleration spurts. That’s why, you can only use the edges three times before you can’t glue anything to them anymore and replacing both the tires and rims costs $120,000. The tires on these are tailor-made for the Veyron to withstand the high speeds this car can reach. Cost $30,000 for the set and can only be changed three times before you also need to swap the rims. Someone that can afford to spend the around 3 million on what he car would cost, can likely afford to service it correctly.

No its not, the Bugatti service requires you to disassemble the top portion of the engine and lube certain pieces by hand and also do an internal inspection. Houston left that part out in the video but all the dealerships tell you just why the prices are so high.
This car was auctioned at Manheim Orlando last year. It didn’t sell, the seller wanted $1.6 million for it. It had different wheels on it and what looked to be correct michelin sport pax tires dated 1012, so the owner must have gotten new ones haha

Think tires are bad, try an oil change. Have to send the car back for a complete tear down and rebuild. Extermely expensive. Top that with only 3 places in the US that deal with bugatti tires
Here I thought $1500 for four tires on my 2013 Shelby was bad.
Can't patch a Bugatti tire, it's a Michelin PAX tire (they come as a single wheel/tire unit and have an internal structure that keeps the tire from going completely flat). In fact I believe it's Honda Odysseys (2007, I believe) that also have PAX tires, I had a customer that was part of a lawsuit class action since the fact that they'd have to replace complete tire and wheel units when they purchased the vehicle. Nonetheless, a plug won't go into a PAX tire, and as far as I'm aware there's no way to remove PAX tires from wheels without destroying at the very least the tire but also the wheel.

You’re right people were pissed when they found out the expense for new tires. Dealers around my area would just bolt on new assemblies. I dismounted a set off a odyssey once for a scrap yard, it took me over 3 hours for a whole set. They are pressed on.

Bugatti is basically show off car for rich people, maybe to drive it like 10-15 miles a month. I am shocked of repair costs. Unbelievable. Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of bugatti no matter how boujee this car is, don’t judge me, that car doesnt have a good or sharp design. I rather drive a Lambo which looks much sexier than a Bugatti.

It makes me laugh that fake people go and buy expensive cars and want to cheap out on repairs. it seems like almost all the expensive car owners are so tight that they squeak because I am a mechanic at a classic hot rod shop and have seen it so many times.
A lot of independent garages around where I live won’t even touch ANY exotic cars, not only will their insurance not cover them in case something goes wrong but (at least from what they told me) you need to be a certified shop to order OEM parts for them. (“Certified” as in e.g. “Ferrari certified”) and the costs of one of those certifications v.s. The amount of exotic cars they get is just not feasible.

People are scared to touch one, due to not only liability, but also cost. Now on the Bugatti Veyron the tires need to be glued onto the rims so that they don’t slip during hard acceleration spurts. That’s why, you can only use the edges three times before you can’t glue anything to them anymore and replacing both the tires and rims costs $120,000. The tires on these are tailor-made for the Veyron to withstand the high speeds this car can reach. Cost $30,000 for the set and can only be changed three times before you also need to swap the rims. Someone that can afford to spend the around 3 million on what he car would cost, can likely afford to service it correctly.
Just a small punch in his tyre... Just repair it for the day and say to the Guy to take it easy and take it to the specialist after that.. who cares... i don’t see the problem, Just helping a Guy out. Maybe he will take the car for his grocery to his garage too, it just takes a couple of minutes..
Plug the tire, dont even need to dismount it wheel, have them sign a waiver....
Talked to the local (and only) bugatti tech, a set of spark plugs is a 40hr job, not surprised by the costs

These Supercar owners can't do their own simple service? WTF it's basic and cheap and easy with simple tools and efforts... ISMH!
No its not, the Bugatti service requires you to disassemble the top portion of the engine and lube certain pieces by hand and also do an internal inspection. Houston left that part out in the video but all the dealerships tell you just why the prices are so high.

This car was auctioned at Manheim Orlando last year. It didn’t sell, the seller wanted $1.6 million for it. It had different wheels on it and what looked to be correct michelin sport pax tires dated 1012, so the owner must have gotten new ones haha
