      @@pierrebahl4423 You're just making ignorant sweeping generalizations about entire groups of people that you disagree with, and then working backwards from that biased assumption. I joined the Army at 19 years old in 2001. 1st time I had healthcare was because I was active duty military. I'm a veteran now, and a large chunk of my family's income goes to shitty health insurance. My 2 year old daughter had a fever and ear infection a few months ago when we took her to the doctor. They refused to treat her until we made over a 100 payment, despite our monthly insurance payments.
      Have you ever gotten a $1000 bill for being treated in an ambulance? I have, and so has my wife who has asthma and can't afford to pay for the medication. We both work full time, she has a Associate's degree and huge student loan debt despite not working in the field of her degree, and I have an Bachelor's degree paid for with the post 911 GI bill, but not working in my degree field as a 3D artist.
      This is the America we live in today, and has been this way for quite some time now. This is why people like myself and these young adults you just saw are voting for Bernie Sanders. It's not because we are lazy entitled doochbags, it's because the current system is crap and benefits those 1 percent at the very top at the expense of everyone else.
      And while you're talking shit about these young adults who simply want to vote for someone who insists on making drastic changes to better their lives, a habitually lying, entitled 70 year old moron is in office as president; a 5 time draft dodger with multiple bankruptcies, a pussy grabbing, cheating scoundrel who happens to be rich because he inherited his wealth from his racist daddy and his own unsavory business practices.

    I agree free healthcare is a right (I’m British) but that’s not necessarily socialism. Socialism is communism, anti capitalist and free market ideologies. A welfare state is simply a capitalist free market system which places a greater emphasis upon redistribution, but the basis is still the same, perhaps a bit more distortion of incentives so smaller pie, but more equally distributed. Still.. it’s not quite socialism.

      I honestly don’t know how it would work in reality, but the framework for Medicare for All/Single payer exist already. It’s far from perfect, at least from what I’ve seen in my albeit limited exposure to Medicare (I have family members who are on it) with copay’s/cost sharing/buying a supplemental plan to fill in coverage gaps but at the same time, they also swear that they’d be broke and homeless without Medicare . My mom has had at least 2 MRIs this year alone on her pituitary gland monitoring a benign cyst that’s causing her some double vision, plus visits to her orthopedist to deal with a neuroma on her big toe and a rash of other foot problems (she works in retail like I do and is on her feet for several hours at a time with just a meal break and it’s killer on her feet and knees) plus consultations with her PCP to monitor her blood pressure medication and neuropathy (she’s on gabapentin for the neuropathy and has to be monitored for side effects, as it’s a controlled substance). All of which have been paid for by Medicare! I myself have been on Medicaid since the start of the pandemic and have loved not having to worry about how I was going to afford to see my doctor or pay for my prescriptions because Medicaid covered them 100%.

    There is no such thing as “free”, whenever the government says they’ll give people something for free, all this means is that everyone else pays for it later on, either in the form of higher taxes, higher interest rates or most likely in the form of inflation.

    • @Abc-fd5jw
      @Abc-fd5jw ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the end, "free" things are paid for through taxes. Of course. But that way you can make the strong mass back a weight that might be too heavy for the indivual people. By sharing the cost for healthcare for example, you can make a more efficient, overall cheaper and higher quality healthcare system while at the same time taking away people's fear to not be able to afford an ambulance.
      Solidarity makes us strong. It ultimately benefits the masses.

      Same argument could be made for you. People who haven't lived through the worst parts of capitalism wont understand the issues of capitalism.
      Is your argument the government? America has throughput history shown its willing to become authoritarian to protect its precious economic system.
      The method which socialism is achieved can be something you have a gripe with. That is fine. However you must acknowledge there are many different ways to achieve it.
      You must also acknowledge socialism in itself is an economic system. So what exactly is the issue of wanting all businesses to be own by the people who know and work for the business. As it stands now we have an over reliance on big corporations to keep the economy running.
      We also have access to the ability to end world hunger. We have access to affordable housing. We would also greatly benefit to expanding the education available to people to get better jobs.
      The main issue of capitalism is it requires a poverty class to maintain its competitive free market to prevent people from speaking for better treatment.
