I jumped on this video because I had a major bird nest yesterday. Ironically while doing a tension test because I knew I was having issues. Turned out it was a dirty bobbin housing. Keep these videos coming. Thank you!

Great video!! I didn't even think about using a scalpel (and I'm a nurse 😐). I used a small pair of scissors that were from a suture removal kit and it worked okay but not as well as the scalpel would. Will try to find it at Floriani. Thanks for these helpful hints!! Really enjoy all of your teaching and support👏

Thank you so much for your comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and found the tips helpful. It's amazing how a small tool like a scalpel can make a big difference in embroidery work. I hope you're able to find one at Floriani! Your support and kind words mean a lot. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out. Keep up the great work!

I have been embroidering for over 40 years and had my first bird's nest today. My hoop was properly seated and I was not stitching a design which could have caused it because I have stitched the same design twice before. I was able to clean up the bird's nest without any problems before finding your video. I usually use a tubular hoop support and did not have that hooked up so maybe that's what the problem was. I will make sure I take caution in hooping my mighty hoop along with the tubular support so that this doesn't happen again. At least I am now aware of what may have caused the problem. Thank you.

thank you for that, I have a dental tool that would substitute for the hook if that's a helpful hint for anyone. The scalpel is a harder find!

This very same issue happened to me yesterday. The hoop wasn't locked in fully.

I wouldn't use that large hook on my machine, I'm not damaging my rotary hook

It doesn’t go near your hook. You hook it around the jammed area to help you lift the fabric and cut away the threads. Or pull threads on top of the bobbin.

Agreed do not use hook, poking around like that will cause damage, remove base plate and blow out and pick threads with tweasers and lube up, takes a few mins to do it right, main cause of nesting on commercial machines is tensions, but a lot of good advice in this viideo

I have a birds nest happening on my brother luminaire XP3. Sewed several appliqués and a 2 towels w/o any problems… now it seems like the bobbin thread is not working…I have rethreaded, new needle, cleaned under needle plate….still not working….
