      I know that the basics are important, but once you get them down, the flashy “stuff” gives you a better feel for the weapon, and help you control it better. Well, at least that is how it is for me... I might be weird.

    I've been humbled. Been using 3 sect staff for over 20 years, learned from this. Thank you. I honor and thank you. I am 50 now. This self defense device is magnificent to me. Proficiency is key. I was always looking for more input with it. A marine taught me in my early 20's and his teaching was lacking to me. I can't believe I didn't get the semblance of all weapons and never could, as far as hand weapons of defence, see how closely the worked together. Thank you. I made my own and am now practicing like you've shown. I am relearning it! Thank you!

    Coach Li, Congratulations for you brilliant work. It's really important to share and teavh the knowledge about the KungFu weapons, specially the ones which are not so seen around. I could really learn a lot from your video, and these basics surely will help me to teach my students when they need to learn the three section staff. Greetings from Brazil! Best Regards, Laoshi Thiago.

      It hurts like hell. I recommend getting a foam covered practice sectional staff to begin. But given that this comment is 2 years old well you've either hurt yourself enough and continued hurt yourself enough and stopped or maybe you've gotten a three-sectional that's covering foam either way best of luck to you.

    Sifu Li, your instruction is AWESOME!!! I'm in artist development/management in the music business, as well as a martial artist, and I've got to say: your delivery, the way you explain things and the cadence of how you do it, relaxed body language, and even the tone of your voice is EXCELLENT. With VERY LITTLE extra production and maybe a demonstration against another person using a weapon, so that people have a visual on how it will work (as they do when your normally being taught in-person, by the Sifu) or unarmed even, and you could have a hit with your videos. Should you be interested in doing more videos and having someone help market them for you, let me know. Hope I don't sound like I'm trying to tell you how to do your job or how to teach, just thought I would throw some compliments at the excellent job here. Actually came up with an idea for a series martial arts videos, based on some concepts, just watching your inspiring videos . . .

    I like the simple explanation along with emphasis on a few specific points. You explain just enough to make it clear and execute the techniques while maintaining control. I also like that you give mention to movement. I like to use the nunchaku and while many like to imitate others and know a few swings, without movement and transition they don't progress and performance lacks without footwork, change of direction or use of their body in controlling and powering the weapon. I learned a few things watching your video. You are very attarctive and skillful.

    Long chains make a three sectional staffs slow and hard to control. Short chains are faster and easier to control. You don’t have to cut long chains. I use a carabiner to connect the end chain links.

    • @difaertkilldfs9895
      @difaertkilldfs9895 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bamboo is a neat choice for homemade training staves. In china we usuall go for $6 training staves made out of PVC pipes coaded in foamed plastic. Never start with a steel staff, unless you want to claim your insurance.
