good video, i got a 3 section staff from a friend who trains at the shaolin temple. I basically got strait into it without direction, learned different techniques that came naturally. i hit myself quit a bit lol with experimentation, but you also have a lot of control over it(which is based on howmuch stillness you can cultivate in ur torso area ive learned)
They are as much TKD indeed, but they are however very common in northern kung fu styles which significantly influenced TKD. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Shaolin_(martial_art)
Are you aware that the "Four Cut Pattern" video you made 6 days ago is "unlisted" in TH-cam, and can't be found in the video list of your channel? I can only view it through the notification I got when it went up.
Thanks! I was aware it was unlisted (I actually made a video on the 4 cut pattern before which is back in the playlist) I didn't realize it still showed up in the playlist thanks!!!
Hi quick question.... what is typical length of each section ? I made my own and they are too short. I bought some and seem way too long.... just wondering whats "correct " thank you 👍🏻
The one in this video is 27" or 69cm for the center section and 27.5" or 70cm for the two outer sections. I have used staffs that are just a little bit shorter and they are not too different, so approximate lengths should be okay. What are you using to tie them together? If you want to go the traditional route I suggest ordering a pair of these: kungfudirect.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=71&product_id=1175 it makes a difference, and I prefer the way these work in motion.
@@SifuKuttel wow ! The one I bought was about 27" too and seem too big maybe it's because I'm 5 ' 6" 🤷🏽♂️ the one I made i tied with nunchucks method. It may just be that I am not that experienced yet. And not 100% comfortable with it yet. I would love to buy the connectors but I am in USA 🇺🇸 and the shipping is crazy also the link you provided is out of stock. Thank you for your videos... they are very helpful ...🙏
Hello Shifu Kuttel... I would like to ask, What is the standard size of 3 Section Staff used in a competition? I've made one with 7 link chains out of Arnis sticks and painted it with primers. Isn't the chain is too long? How many chain links should it have? Thank you in advance... :)
There is really no specific size when it comes to the three section staff. So if you're comfortable with the chain length you have then it's no problem. The key is to train consistently with the same weapon to build familiarity, especially with a flexible weapon that could end up injuring you with a slight mistake or adjustment. For reference, my three section staff is 70cm for each section of wood, the chains are 3 links and span 7cm between the sections. I have another staff that I work with slightly shorter sections and slightly longer chains. Hope that helps!
Hello sir, Im familiar with a bo and nunchucks and I plane to get a three section staff. Since Ill buy it online I wont be able to try it, so how can I choose the right size ?
I don't think there is a standard for how long the sections of the staff should be. I think 60cm is a good general length for the sections. The one I am using in this video is 70cm for the sections, I am 182cm tall so it fits me well.
Kung Fu with Sifu Kuttel Gosh... this Sifu is a true gamer too. Why not make a photo shooting vlog. Perhaps this looks cool XD ❤❤ Billy is the best Fatal Fury and KOF character. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Hi Joe, you've got a good point, a pair of swords would work with these movements too. However, they are still part of the techniques available for 3 section staff, and a great way to get acquainted with the range and restrictions of the weapon. There will be more swinging and spinning techniques (that you can't do with a pair of short swords) I'll post sometime soon 😂
@@SifuKuttel You have real ability! You know your stuff and your delivery is very good, aimed at beginners but not patronising or filled with silly mystic crap like some people. I'd love to see you actually fight with this thing. Please could you find Jake Mace and beat the shit out of him? Assuming you can even get him to fight that is :-P
3 section staff, is a really interesting weapon.
Estos turtoriales del bastón de 3 secciones son oro puro. Muchas gracias. Estaré esperando más, saludos
Thank you for these vids! I'm learning the three section and absolutely enjoy your tutorials and break downs of each move. :)

Nicely done! I began training with the 3 section staff about 45 years ago. It is still my favorite flexible weapon.
That's awesome to hear!
That makes you sound like a sage of the mountains, awesome
imagine blocking the middle section and the end just whacks you in the noggin
Love this video :) Your brief combo focused weapon tutorials are really good. :) Your old Fist With A Fauxhawk is no longer active is it?
Yes, for the most part Fist with A Fauxhawk is an archive of older videos. My main focus is this channel now.

Start simple
i made an accidental 3 section staff at home
Accidental? Maybe it was fate, time to move to three section staff 😅
And the best part is that it can extend back and turn into a Bo staff, so it's a multipurpose staff
If you are going to use those particular techniques you might as well throw away that stupid toy and use a pair of short swords.
