I use either Emsisoft or Eset and I cannot stand Norton or McAfee, both are resource hogs and don't catch anything until you scan using a different utility. Then all of a sudden Norton and McAfee say, "Hey guys, look I found a virus! I'm doing my job now!"....seriously...smh
I have been using Trend Micro Maximum Security since 2018 now shifting to Eset Premium Security on your suggestion. Bit confused between Eset & Kaspersky. The price difference between both of them in my country is huge. Eset Premium costs 1.7 times of Kaspersky Premium
All of the AV evaluations on TH-cam are sponsored by an internet security company being tested so it adds a level of mistrust on my part. also so many reviewers seem to be using the exact same graphics when doing reviews which also raise a flag in my suspicious mind. I know you are running a business, but it lowers the trust worthy score to some degree regardless of who is doing the review. I do think you seem honest but... I have had zero viruses in over a decade because of my mistrust.
Bruh... I get the mistrust part, but that graphics portion... are you talking about the tierlist...? Tierlist is open to anyone, he can grab a template made by someone and form a list he considers to be real to him. This "tierlist" template is used across any theme out there, from hardware rankings, gaming company rankings, car brand rankings, characters in games, you name it. The website usually makes a ranking based on answers given by people, which of course can be manipulated, so those rankings on tierlists should be ignored most of the time. As for what AV is best for you, you do your research and go with your gut feeling. I've been using avast for ages, i had issues with it early on during XP era (wasn't paid) but i've been clean since 2013, 11 years of paid subscription on this thing but i decided to put a stop to it, the price hike is absurd and the competition seems to be offering much better deals. As of right now, my research has led me to pick one of the following three: kaspersky, bitdefender, malwarebytes as these are usually ranked up high by literally 90% of the people rating them. Based on pricing, length, platform accessibility, number of devices, kaspersky has the best deal out of the 3 and it is not even a close match. Which means tommorow, kaspersky is gonna be installed on my rig, the 11 year long reign of avast is no more, 50€/year for premium security, it's not even ultimate package... I get the complete package for the same price with bitdefender, and i get 80€ for 2 years with kaspersky, avast also only supports android/windows. The idea is to share the subscription with a friend, but he is an apple fanboy, which makes kaspersky even more attractive.
Sir did not ESET failed in one of the video-test of PC Security Channnel and he said in his tier list video that ESET is still an improvement over Windows Defender and he placed it in B Tier while Windows Defender was in C Tier.
Yeah but his test was done with most of the features turned off and then blasted the engine with hundreds of samples at the same time. ESET is not designed to use all system resources and possibly crash the system. If you leave ESET features on he wouldnt be able to even run the script that executes the malware.
Kaspersky does allow some pretty granular application and resource control/ monitoring, it's just deeply hidden in the settings menu. Custom firewall rule making could be a little better as well.
What are your thoughts on AV-Comparatives and AV-Test websites? I've been a Norton user since the 1980s, and periodically review other options. It seems to be in a tier with all the other top brands consistently, and all of them miss detection at some point. At the same time, I was interested in ESET from things I've heard recently, but it doesn't seem to be as robust in testing as other top tier brands like Norton, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, etc.
Great question. I like AV test websites when they do realistic test. Most of them test ESET but only it's engine and see how it does post execution. This isn't realistic because ESET takes a pre-execution approach so rather than Ransomeware rollback it intercept the encryption. Rather than locking down part of the post execution it intercepts the task call. It utilizes machine learning, intrusion detection, and features such as live grid to prevent execution. To perform the tests where you execute 200 Malware at the same time the tester must disable 75% of ESET's security to just get the test to run. I'm in a discord group of fellow IT TH-camrs and Malware researchers and the biggest pain in testing ESET was that it stopped the test before we could try to infect it. We also test a ton of network attacks and hacks.... Almost always intercepted by it's IDS system and HIPS.
Didn't know Mcafee ranked that low. I've been using it for several weeks, now I don't know if I can get my money back if I cancel my subscription. By the way, it's true it does have some popups just to advertise their antivirus which is pretty annoying to me. Great video!
Thank you for reviewing and providing this and I agree Trend micro use to be good, and like you say Malwarebytes great for removal. never been a fan of Norton or McAfee the fact it comes pre installed opens you up to Zero day vulnerabilities, and i have worked on many computers that had issues and had the AV programs

It isn't available in the US now so its a moot point.
The author has a question for you, for example, you tried to look up to the products of the United States or Anglo-Saxons, for example, you know very well why 99% of people hate Microsoft Defender, but you are hiding it to the fullest, it shows you are a noble person, in fact, Microsoft Defender is not only for the United States and Anglo-Saxons, but also for them. the secret agent who delivers all the information knows that 99.9% of people know it and therefore download it any way they can. I don't bother with other antiviruses because their prices are too expensive, but I really like Kaspersky, it's so rich in functions that even a new computer user can work with it. You know that Kaspersky Anti-Virus is very good and can do its job without a doubt, but you are afraid to say this because it did not affect any country and was not afraid of the pressure of the United States, the Anglo-Saxons, and did not give people's personal information to anyone. you are politicizing even a simple antivirus and giving wrong information to people. Is it because Kaspersky Antivirus is located in Russia? This work made me hate you so much that I will not watch your video anymore and I will tell others about your fabrication.
