I wanted to get into gaming (I’m 50 yrs old at the time of commenting) but everything seemed to have such a steep learning curve. The last time I played video games it was on an Atari 😬. Controllers and mechanics were overwhelming. I had issues. Then my best friend told me to buy BOTW and thank him later. That game changed my relationship with gaming. I was hooked. It hand held me through learning gameplay and provided me with a foundation to build on. Love that game for opening my eyes and acting as a gateway to a whole new world of entertainment.
Any Zelda game is a good start, u should try Links Awakening too. I’ve been gaming since i was 12 but i find a lot of online games like COD ect to intense and a lot if guys take it way to seriously. I prefer my Switch to my Xbox and BOTW has just the right pace, oh i would also recommend “Fenyx Rising” which is pretty much the same although BOTW2 is out next year so…. I’m 51 now, take care and enjoy ✌️❤️🇬🇧
animal crossing is an obvious one! i just got into gaming (i’m 23) and i’ve had no clue where to start, or what my skill level is! that’s so normal and watching videos is the best way to see what game genres are good and also what’s worth the money (because games now can be expensive!!!). just stick with a couple of games you like and then expand from there! good luck with your future gaming!!!

Animal Crossing kept me and my long distance best friend connected during lockdown. Even to this day we still play together and visit each other's islands. It really came out when the world needed it most and it'll always be remembered for helping so many of us through such a dark time. ❤

I've never considered myself a gamer until I got my own console. It was at the beggining of the pandemic and the first game I got was ACNH, it kept me sane; i met new people on the internet who were so helpful and happy of sharing info and tips. My mom asked me every day how my island was doing and it felt so fun. Currently I have many other games of different genres and I could say my favorite until now is Oxenfree. When I started it was so scary but it's just so enjoyable specially because every decision can change the outcome.
I think everybody has an animal crossing pandemic story. for me, it kept me connected to my friends in new york while I went back to my parents' home for lockdown since I didn't want to spend it alone in my apartment. we used to get together on each others' islands while on zoom calls, trading items and touring each others' builds and houses as we decorated them. we used it for holidays too- we spent easter, the fourth of july, and halloween 2020 on our islands since we couldn't get together in real life for the holidays. it was such a life saver, honestly, and it gave me something to look forward to every day when there just wasn't much else.
Me and my nephew (who was 19 then) were hooked on ACNH throughout the whole first lockdown. We were playing for like 16+ hours every day and it really did save us and bring us closer 🥺
Puddles :) The way that you described Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is EXACTLY how I feel about Dragon Quest 11. That game was my *entire* life for a solid 3 weeks lol. From the games you mentioned, I think you would enjoy it too!
Animal Crossing helped me through the pandemic too. I was furloughed from work and we were all stuck inside. We played AC nonstop, and I remember being in so many sub reddits for turnip prices, trading, and treasure islands. It was the only thing on all my social media feeds. It's sad though because I played nonstop I basically rushed through the game and then got sick of it come 2021. I restarted a couple times hoping to get back into it, and I just can't. Even though I look back on it with nostalgia, I almost wish it didn't come out then so I could have slowly enjoyed the game for years, like I did with the earlier games.

Puddles. I’m a 57 yr old mom of 4, 1 in heaven 3 I raised. My Nintendo experience was 64 and Cube, playing Kart and Party with the kids when they were younger and that’s it. Flash forward to April or May of 2020 and my now adult daughter and her husband encouraged me to get a Switch lite and ACNH and I spent the next two years + glued to that screen on a daily basis, my lifeline. We still enjoy playing Golf, Kart and Party as a family on the rare occasions when we find time to all come together at the same time (typically once a year at holiday time). I went on to try ACGC and ACNL as well as some SOS games. Thinking about trying Stardew next. LOVE your videos, this one especially.
Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Switch Sports, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon, Two Point Campus and Two Point Hospital have been my favorites for my Switch since I got my first Switch 5 years ago.
puddles! it’s been so long since i’ve seen someone talking about octopath traveler! that game is one of my favorites despite the fact that i managed to under level half my party and now officially can’t beat the final final boss without grinding for hours. also totally agree with animal crossing and splatoon 2. such good games that i’ve put so many hours into both by myself and with friends. great list!

My all-time favorite Switch game is for sure Kirby and the Forgotten Land. As a massive Kirby fan, that game gave me so much joy. The library as a whole though is some of the best out of any console. Also the Switch is 5 years old now. Btw you and I must've got our Switches at the exact same time. I too also got mine two months later after the launch.

FE:3H is the game I bought a Switch for. Right at start of pandemic lockdown in March 2020. As an ADHD gamer it’s rarely a game grabs me for long but 640 hours later I broke free from its spell, to play TMS#fe Awesome video again ☺️
4:27 flashbacks to when i was obsessed with three houses, until i realised all my bad decisions on my second last fight that was IMPOSSIBLE because my characters were extremely under leveled. Took me HOURS to solve that, HOURS. and by solve i mean delete and restart
Puddles. So agree with Animal Crossing - here in America I was sent home from work for a few weeks on St Patrick's Day (3/17). I saw the tv ad for Animal Crossing and had to have it. I had played on the original Wii (3 copies) and bought the WiiU with the promise of a new AC. I got the last console available in SW Fla and waited for the download. AC became my life, and I found a creator (Bobby the NintendoGuru) and his community. He made everyone feel welcome and made games like Nook or No Nook which we played a few nights a week. He also organized Mario Kart Tournaments and Splatoon events. Until he became ill and passed from covid. I owe him and his kindness for getting me thru that terrible time.

Agree with ACNH game, I picked up the game from the game shop Friday morning and we went into lockdown. My daughter and I played together but it kept me from getting anxious.
Puddles!! I’m a 49 y/o gamer and have been my entire life! I got my first console, Odyssey, when I was in 3rd grade (1982?). I also LOVED the arcade and would beg to go all the time. Now, as a mom to three gamers (ages 13-22), I’m STILL a diehard gamer! I LOVED the Wii when it came out because the games were completely different…more family oriented. My son is an X-box player, while my girls play on the computer. Animal Crossing of each kind is my favorite game of all time over all consoles. Nothing has come close yet, but I do have the new Disney game downloaded and can’t wait to try it!
Puddles! I love ACNH as well. Other games I played during lockdown were Gris, Kittaria Fables, Stardew & My Time at Portia. I can’t wait for My Time at Sandrock to make it out on consoles.
Puddles! On the day animal crossing released, I had to move out of the home I was born and raised in (for 22 years). It was an incredibly painful day for me and it was also I think the first day of lockdown. We moved to a tiny house on a holiday park, but there was nothing to do there - restaurant, bowling, swimming pool, all closed. What should have been a super fun 3 months was just frustration in a couple of square meters. Animal Crossing really helped me destress in this period, even if it didn't end up being my favorite animal crossing. I'm still so happy it came out in this difficult time.
Puddles! I love Rayman Legends, it has a special place in my heart. I got it for cheap on a whim for the WiiU and had an absolute blast playing through it with my boyfriend. I've since bought it for the switch and on steam. Such an incredible game, it doesn't get enough love for how good it is.
Puddles! I am getting a switch for Christmas. I am 38 and this will be the first console I've ever owned. I grew up watching my brother play countless games on countless systems. We would play a lot of multi-player games but he would usually kick my ass. I've never been very good at video games but the Switch seems like it has a lot of games that would be suited for me. PUDDLES! I'm 970+ hours into Animal Crossing and I'm still playing! Just this past week I dug up 766 out of season bushes and replaced them with in season bushes...lol took me a couple of hours (omg only being able to buy 5 bushes at a time drives me nuts! haha)...but I loved it. This game gets me at a soulful level! lol

I played games for years before this, but I finally considered myself a true gamer when I bought a used GameCube and a copy of Tales of Symphonia based on a recommendation from a GameStop employee. To this day, it’s still one of my favorite games and I love the whole “Tales” series.
Puddles😊 I’m pretty new to the Switch world, I’ve had it a year and am STILL learning. Never owned a gaming system other then Nintendo systems, mostly because my undying love of every version of Mario Kart. And I totally get it, it’s my go to game to just zen out. I love I can play people online, I don’t have anyone to play in person. It was nice to watch your cheeky video, made my giggle. But it was nice to see other games. I’m so far below a novice, I’m still learning. From games that fit my kind of gaming, to awesome switch covers to personalize my system itself, to pro controllers and what their point is (I do love mine cuz it friggin lights up into different light modes). And I just bought the Street Fighter 30th Anni and am so confused. I remember playing it as a kid but this version I can’t figure out and don’t know how to work it. If you or any friends play it we need to talk and help me. I thought it was multi version releases into one, which it is, but I don’t get how to get it to be a cpu player I can fight against. All I can get it to do is play videos of fighting but I’m not one of the fighters. I can’t even fight a real person online. I’m so confused. One game I stumbled on is Ori Will of The Wisps and I really think it’s beautiful and fun. But because this is the first time it’s on Nintendo switch and it’s always been on another game systems that I’ve never owned I find that it’s something I have to watch cheat videos of to get through, but even going step-by-step through cheat videos so I can get through it I’m still having fun, but I find it disappointing that I can’t figure it out because I’ve never played a past version of it so that parts disappointing. But otherwise I absolutely love the game because it’s so pretty and relaxing yet at the same time completely frustrating because I’ve never really played games like it and the controls are so tricky and they’re way beyond my capability, so far. I hope to get better. I don’t even know some of the terms you or other game reviewer use in the review videos. Don’t know what RPG is. Basically with every Nintendo I’ve owned I’ve played a Mario Kart, Mario Party, and maybe Rampage or Wii Sports. I’m in my 30’s and gaming ignorant. I don’t even play much on my phone🙄🤣 Happy New Year

My favourite games on the Switch are Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2 and Starlink. I also love playing Go Vacation and Overcooked with my two siblings. However, I really want to get into Fire Emblem 3 Houses, the entire Xenoblade Chronicles franchise and one or two others. I agree with what you said about Mario Kart being a port.

Xenoblade chronicles 2 is such an awesome game! I have 200+ hours in it just meandering along and finishing every quest possible. The plot is smashingly good too :) What do you think about the new Xenoblade 3? Also have you tried Dragon's quest XI ? Just subbed you, you have great energy/enthusiasm. Octopath is criminally underrated! I’m yet to do a boss battle that has as hype music as octopath did

Agree with ACNH game, I picked up the game from the game shop Friday morning and we went into lockdown. My daughter and I played together but it kept me from getting anxious.

Puddles!! I’m a 49 y/o gamer and have been my entire life! I got my first console, Odyssey, when I was in 3rd grade (1982?). I also LOVED the arcade and would beg to go all the time. Now, as a mom to three gamers (ages 13-22), I’m STILL a diehard gamer! I LOVED the Wii when it came out because the games were completely different…more family oriented. My son is an X-box player, while my girls play on the computer. Animal Crossing of each kind is my favorite game of all time over all consoles. Nothing has come close yet, but I do have the new Disney game downloaded and can’t wait to try it!
Puddles! I love ACNH as well. Other games I played during lockdown were Gris, Kittaria Fables, Stardew & My Time at Portia. I can’t wait for My Time at Sandrock to make it out on consoles.
Puddles! On the day animal crossing released, I had to move out of the home I was born and raised in (for 22 years). It was an incredibly painful day for me and it was also I think the first day of lockdown. We moved to a tiny house on a holiday park, but there was nothing to do there - restaurant, bowling, swimming pool, all closed. What should have been a super fun 3 months was just frustration in a couple of square meters. Animal Crossing really helped me destress in this period, even if it didn't end up being my favorite animal crossing. I'm still so happy it came out in this difficult time.
Puddles! I love Rayman Legends, it has a special place in my heart. I got it for cheap on a whim for the WiiU and had an absolute blast playing through it with my boyfriend. I've since bought it for the switch and on steam. Such an incredible game, it doesn't get enough love for how good it is.
Puddles! I am getting a switch for Christmas. I am 38 and this will be the first console I've ever owned. I grew up watching my brother play countless games on countless systems. We would play a lot of multi-player games but he would usually kick my ass. I've never been very good at video games but the Switch seems like it has a lot of games that would be suited for me. I'm very excited :)
RAYMAN!! Man, I was OBSESSED with that game back when I was playing on an Xbox 360. I played it on the switch and it’s still so good. Great game

I'm 970+ hours into Animal Crossing and I'm still playing! Just this past week I dug up 766 out of season bushes and replaced them with in season bushes...lol took me a couple of hours (omg only being able to buy 5 bushes at a time drives me nuts! haha)...but I loved it.
This game gets me at a soulful level! lol
Lol I feel your pain! I do the same thing regularly, thankfully I don’t have anywhere near as many bushes on my island but it’s still a mammoth job! I’d love to see your island if you’re willing to befriend? X

I played games for years before this, but I finally considered myself a true gamer when I bought a used GameCube and a copy of Tales of Symphonia based on a recommendation from a GameStop employee. To this day, it’s still one of my favorite games and I love the whole “Tales” series.

Puddles😊 I’m pretty new to the Switch world, I’ve had it a year and am STILL learning. Never owned a gaming system other then Nintendo systems, mostly because my undying love of every version of Mario Kart. And I totally get it, it’s my go to game to just zen out. I love I can play people online, I don’t have anyone to play in person. It was nice to watch your cheeky video, made my giggle. But it was nice to see other games. I’m so far below a novice, I’m still learning. From games that fit my kind of gaming, to awesome switch covers to personalize my system itself, to pro controllers and what their point is (I do love mine cuz it friggin lights up into different light modes). And I just bought the Street Fighter 30th Anni and am so confused. I remember playing it as a kid but this version I can’t figure out and don’t know how to work it. If you or any friends play it we need to talk and help me. I thought it was multi version releases into one, which it is, but I don’t get how to get it to be a cpu player I can fight against. All I can get it to do is play videos of fighting but I’m not one of the fighters. I can’t even fight a real person online. I’m so confused. One game I stumbled on is Ori Will of The Wisps and I really think it’s beautiful and fun. But because this is the first time it’s on Nintendo switch and it’s always been on another game systems that I’ve never owned I find that it’s something I have to watch cheat videos of to get through, but even going step-by-step through cheat videos so I can get through it I’m still having fun, but I find it disappointing that I can’t figure it out because I’ve never played a past version of it so that parts disappointing. But otherwise I absolutely love the game because it’s so pretty and relaxing yet at the same time completely frustrating because I’ve never really played games like it and the controls are so tricky and they’re way beyond my capability, so far. I hope to get better. I don’t even know some of the terms you or other game reviewer use in the review videos. Don’t know what RPG is. Basically with every Nintendo I’ve owned I’ve played a Mario Kart, Mario Party, and maybe Rampage or Wii Sports. I’m in my 30’s and gaming ignorant. I don’t even play much on my phone🙄🤣

Puddles! I've only just discovered your channel and I really enjoy that you put out your opinions out there in a way that is respectful and reasonable! New subscriber! My favourite games on the Switch are Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2 and Starlink. I also love playing Go Vacation and Overcooked with my two siblings. However, I really want to get into Fire Emblem 3 Houses, the entire Xenoblade Chronicles franchise and one or two others. I agree with what you said about Mario Kart being a port.

puddles. I have never been big on video games but then i started playing animal crossing and i can not get enough of it. I have put in so many hours its insane :) I also love mario + rabbids kingdom battle.

what games and console would you recommend for someone who is new to the switch consoles? I am undecided between the switch lite, the LED switch or the normal switch....(the last console I played was gameboy colour and ps2 lol i'm more of a PC gamer)

Puddles. I sold my switch to a friend a year or so ago because I hadn’t been playing it but I always wished I’d kept it. Recently got a great deal on an oled and made sure to get Mario kart, Zelda, and animal crossing.

Xenoblade chronicles 2 is such an awesome game! I have 200+ hours in it just meandering along and finishing every quest possible. The plot is smashingly good too :) What do you think about the new Xenoblade 3? Also have you tried Dragon's quest XI ? Just subbed you, you have great energy/enthusiasm.
