    Look like a lot of fun!
    Maybe have another look at the lift motors, getting volume in is more important than the speed. Also the skirt is a bit off, and this is essential for optimal performance.
    You can have a look at our "model hovercraft association" page and look for the video: "How to design model hovercraft bag skirt". Maintain a ride height of 1/8 of the width of the model.
    If you need help I'm willing to make the patterns if you like, I just need the dimensions of your model.
    Also the center of gravity is very important, try to keep it centered and a bit to the back when on water.
    Cheers mate!

    Would work even better with a properly designed bag skirt and lighter weight materials I would think. Also you really don't need EDFs for lift - something like a squirrel cage fan would give plenty of pressure.

      Thanks. 4oz neoprene and nylon blended material, it’s what they use on small hovercraft’s. 👍

    So, I had this really weird obsession with hovercrafts when I was about 9 or 10. I even built a simple one for my science fair project one year. It was just a piece of round particle board with a skirt I made from a shower curtain and an electric leaf blower for lift. I'd still love to own a manufactured one someday, but this may be my next weekend project. What kind and thickness of material did you use for the base?

    How much do you and the hovercraft weigh? I'm trying to design a hovercraft like this one and I need to figure out the kg of thrust per kilogram because I'm looking at different ducted fans and I want to use a much larger and heavier li ion battery pack for more endurance.

    • @majorhavoc
      @majorhavoc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi 👋
      I weigh 95kg and the hovercraft is almost 40kg. I’m interested in your project, will it be on TH-cam or instagram maybe?

      @@majorhavoc I'm thinking about what I want to do for my senior high school engineering project. I'm in 11th grade right now and the next school year starts in August so I have plenty of time to think about what I'm going to do. Right now I'm thinking about 2 things, a solar powered autonomous boat, or a hovercraft. When I first commented on the video I wanted to copy what you did but I started looking at the numbers and seeing how expensive it would be but I could definitely do an autonomous rc hovercraft. If I were to do the hovercraft it would mostly be for going over water though. I will post videos on TH-cam and pictures on Instagram of whatever project I do.

    Are you tested single v3 ejets? Is enough? Or I need two ejets for lift?

    • @majorhavoc
      @majorhavoc  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi it might work on a single EDF but would have to be a larger surface area. I will do another video with some extra testing soon 👍

      @@Okiem.dyslektyka possibly, did you watch part 2? The combined weight with me and the hovercraft was 130kg it would hover on about half power but needed full power to get on the hover plane.

      @@majorhavoc i know, because you need pressure. So i think one engine(have enough air and the same pressure) and full throttle is similar than 2 engine and full throttle. But 2 engine is awesome 😎 if you can check it, let me know, will be great. But you must close hole the other engine.

    How much horse power do the engines have?

    • @majorhavoc
      @majorhavoc  ปีที่แล้ว

      The two fans have 7hp each (5.5kw) the big fan has 20hp (15kw) assuming there all on full power - total 34hp 😁

    nice project! can we get the dimensions for the skirt and body of the hovercraft?

    • @majorhavoc
      @majorhavoc  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi 👋,
      The hovercraft is 1.4m long & 1m wide. The skirt the 4oz nylon neoprene material 600mm wide strip forming semicircular tube around the perimeter with lots of air holes underneath (open plenum design). The hovercraft is best suited to a driver up to 60kgs, it’s operating on the limit with me at 100kgs. It would carry weight easier if the surface area was larger. I have another video (coming soon) explaining all this in detail and some upgrades to the hovercraft. Thanks 🙏🏼

    I don’t get it how does two EDF’s lift a person’s weight? The EDF’s make like 12kg trust max right? 🤷‍♂️🤯

    • @PhoneVidoes
      @PhoneVidoes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its because its over the whole physical area, it a bit like the fact you cant knock a ruler off a table with a ball if you place a normal A4 bit of paper on top of the ruler , try it 😉

    • @nythawkfpv
      @nythawkfpv ปีที่แล้ว +1

      as long as air is being pumped into the skirt faster than it escapes, any motor can lift anything up

    • @Okiem.dyslektyka
      @Okiem.dyslektyka ปีที่แล้ว

      Because it is different thrust. Like hydraulic press. In one side you have 6kg in 0.01meter square And in other side you have about 0.5 meter square so you can lift about 300kg.
