That is a beautiful village, my son was doing some work there a few years ago and I had to pick him up, so nice to see it again, it's so peaceful until you get near that road 👍

I used to do the paper round here when I was 16. Still regularly walk through it. You should check out the path past the salvins estate that eventually will take you to shincliffe. Great walk.

@@AllThePiecesMatter_ sounds decent, can you send me an exact location where that starts? Want to check it out!

@@NorthernExposure1 at the end of Sunderland bridge, go left down the winding path past Croxdale mill then right over cattle grid and over a small bridge uphill past Salvins Hall, path leads past an old (Saxon?) church, then take left path past the huge stone arched barn. Follow this path (it doesn't fork off) til you reach a farm (I think it's lower butterby farm). Then you have a choice; straight ahead through the woods will take you eventually to Shincliffe Hall, then Poplar Tree garden centre. Or go right at the farm and this path will take you to the main road between Bowburn and Shincliffe. Go left and a ten minute walk will get you to Shincliffe, walk through past The Avenue pub and then a coffee shop then down a bank (you'll see a bench to your left). This takes you back to the main road. Go right and downhill for a few minutes, you'll see The Seven Stars Inn across the road. Cross here and past the pub takes you into Old Shincliffe. Walking through here also takes you to Poplar Tree. Right at the garden centre sign then left at the main road, past The Rose Tree pub, over a bridge then on past Houghall College. Straight on a few hundred yards brings you into Durham.
