I went to the Hall of Fame 2010 induction cerimony along with my family, as grandson of brazilian player Ubiratan Maciel. When leaving the hotel to the Springfield Symphony Hall for the cerimony, me and my mom got into a bus that, besides the driver, the only passenger was Clyde. I was 12 and unfortunately didnt knew who he was, but as soon as I got inside the bus, man, what a humble person and beautiful human being the man proved to be. With such class, he took off his hall of famer ring and did let me see it with my own hands, and when I asked his name he laughed with joy and said “im your friend Clyde the glyde , young man”. Got a picture with him and my mom, and still remember this moment with such happiness.
My favorite player from the first time I saw him play in 1982. Clyde wasn't a showboat or arrogant. His talking was through his performance on the court. Total class act!
Blazer fan going back to the early 80's. DreXler is a great...on the court and off. Humble. Generous. Kind. We could use more guys like him in the NBA today.
One of the most underrated players of all time. I've always seen similarities between Drexler and Dr.J so it's cool to see that they're so linked. I never knew that.
My favorite player of all time!!!!! When Clyde ran down the court and put that head down towards the ground he was goin to the rim.........Miss watching the Glyde!!!!!!
It was such a privilege watching The Glide with his Portland teammates in the early 90s - Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey, Buck Williams, Kevin Duckworth, Cliff Robinson and others with Rick Adelman as their coach. Two NBA finals.
Clyde Drexler has so much class, not necessarily as a sportman but as a human being I mean. He's mysterious, smart, modest and hypnotizing. A real man.
Little known fact.... My hero .... Clyde the Glide Drexler.... Wore # 23 freshman year in college with the Houston Cougars. Never seen anything like him before and watching his highlights always brings joy, even when he was with the Rockets.
Most underated player in his era. Pts rebounds steals and assists. He was a complete player that if played any other time than MJ would have ben considered top ten of all time.
I went to his basketball camp two years in a row when i was in high school. He would talk to all the kids and parents including me and my mom. A few years later my mother and i ran into clyde at a restaurant and immediately said hi to me by my name. He ended up talking to us for about 20 minutes. Hes the nicest person you could ever meet
Classy guy, great player. Went toe to toe with prime Jordan in the NBA finals, no shame in falling short there, but he showed his greatness by holding his own.
when did Clyde Drexler was traded did the Rockets I was very happy to see him playing along with Hakeem Olajuwon and the rest players of the Rockets my favorite team.
one of my all time fav....clyde the glide....he was electrifying!!! very potent and explosive player and a leader of the trailblazer....they just was not able to get pass the bulls...overshadowed by the great, 23, mj.
How fitting that Dr J would introduce Drexler. Perhaps the best above the rim players in NBA history. If anyone outdid Clyde at those heights, Dr J was the only one.
Cass act as always. Clyde Drexler always did his talented best to deliver. He managed to stand out in an era with Kareem, Magic, Bird, MJ, Stockton, Malone...
Thanks for the upload.Clyde Drexler and MJ were the 2 best SG's their entire careers. If only the Blazers didn't run into a Pistons team wanting to repeat in 90' (Dumars father passing in gm 3 for Det to make it 1-2 instead of 0-3) and Jordan (with a breakout Pippen) for his REPEAT in 92', he'd have 2 rings in Portland and one in Houston. 3 rings possibly. Funny that he came to Houston on their 2nd championship. Helping them REPEAT. Something about the 2nd. 2nd best SG of the 80's- mid 90's- but the best in the league in 94' and 95' lol.GO BLAZERS!
Clyde was incredibly quick and smooth as silk. He played above his height inside and was deadly outside. One of an incredible number of Hall of Famers to come out of that era.
@@beanman123 I had to give it up for Clyde the Glide, regardless of how much time had passed. So many great players from that era and playoff games were very physical (not rough, or dirty as in Detroit). The 81 conference finals between the Sixers and Celtics is a must see for NBA fans.

Top 5 SGs of All Time #1 Michael Jordan #2 Clyde Drexler #3 Kobe Bryant #4 Reggie Miller #5 Joe Dumars As a Rockets fan, I was very happy to see Clyde eventually won a ring with the 95 Cinderella 6 seeded Rockets...He's my favourite shooting guard of all time.
My favorite college player EVER. Class, style, grace, greatness...just like his idol. And he DID say Doc was “the greatest ever to play the game,” didn’t he? Ouch...
30 years ago spent hours listening to NATO radio broadcasting the games against the Bulls. Here, it were 1, 2 or 3 A.M., I had to get up esrly, but stood with my ears glued to the radio. Just to listen to Clyde and the hope of senegalesa him winning. Long live this gentleman.
Haha I would say no. But the strange thing is that he actually is young in this video. Unfortunately for him, his hair loss and his very skinny look participate in creating that impression. But I don't doubt the solidity and the vitality of his cerebral capacities.
And now a guard From Wisc.- Stevens Point, Terry Porter, A forward from UCLA kiki Vandeweghe, At forward from somewhere, Kenny Carr, at guard from Houston, number 22 Clyde Drexler......Drexler. and the center, any of three.. I used to love the Blazer games, Clyde is still my favorite player, one of the few who could turn a loss into a win through determination.
one of the very best shooting guard of all time, younger generations will never know but probably better at his best than kobe or dwayne wade, who is my favorite today...
I don't see why everyone was fussing about dwade MJ Kobe and Clyde they were all completely different players, Kobe is just a pure scorer MJ did everything well, dwade is a decent athletic scorer and Clyde is an electrifying athlete but MJ will always be the G.O.A.T. (Even though Clyde is my favorite player)
I would've loved if he told more stories in his speech, it's quite short with 6 minutes video time. I think he gets forgotten too often when people think of the greatest players who ever played this game and with this speech he could've shown more of his view on all those years he was in the NBA.
Listen to Clyde Drexler speak at the Hall of Fame and Listen to MJ speak at the Hall of Fame. contemporaries , though both are a little younger than me I prefer where Clyde is coming from and I would rather have his career if it molded him into the man who was speaking.

Clyde is the ONLY player in NBA History with over 20,000 Points over 6,000 Assists and Rebounds and Over 2,000 Steals--pretty good numbers..
Now, LBJ made it to another level.. I think he's going for 35K pts 10K ast and reb, and 2.5K stls...

He is amazing. He simply had the misfortune of being a sg in michael’s era. Any other era, he would DOMINATE he is that good. 2nd best sg imo
Here here.
Still won a championship with the rockets
It was special that he won it with Hakeem.
I agree 💯
Still got a ring but I think kobe took that second best SG spot he top 5 SG's all time tho
